  1. THe big problem is that when the reed valves break apart on the tips they allow too much heat through. That heat goes into the black plastic flying saucer (silencer) and melts it to poop. The poop ends up in your carb and when the molten poop cools it hardens and you see hard little doo doos in your carbie. You may also find some deposits inside you valve/rocker covers if you have some misfires.
  2. Tim,don't sweat it.You don't have to committ to the Brat.I'm a little disappointed but I'll get over it.The real pain will be where I'll have to park it now.Somehow,I will find somebody to hold it for me.Maybe this is a sign that I should tuck it away for a couple of months and just hold onto it and the plow. OK,and now back to our show...... RAIN OR SHINE. Please feel free to email me for my number if you don't have it already. I'll be there both days.If someone wants to bring children let me know and I'll try to have my family there when you're here.My son is 7 1/2 and my daughter is almost 4.
  3. Well,at least the reed valve in there won't burn out if it's sucking cold air. ASV? Air Suction Valve?
  4. Yes,that's where it belongs. Now for punishment for not knowing that, you must drive southwesterly for around 150 miles on Saturday. Hope you can make it. Wish Skip could too.
  5. I've got a stage I that doesn't do you too much good unless you get desperate.I shall dig deep within all sources. One guy stopping by tomorrow has a serious collection, and he's not a board member.I'll see what he has for you. Hey,if you have my number still please call me tomorrow.....preferably while I'm at the workshop late in the AM or in the afternoon.
  6. cooooooooool  Calls will be made later....life looking better....thanks!!!
  7. Bump for the rain on Saturday......NO PROBLEM!! we now have some room!! Sunday will be show day!! The fat lady is tuning up.......
  8. trailer??.....that's right!!!!!!!!! Dave,you're hired!!!
  9. Congrats! Welcome fellow diosaur jockey. Let me know what you need fast.I have a little bit of tan/brown interior goodies for other EA71's and maybe some Brat specific. Cheers
  10. OK,I hope you all bring some empty space!! THere's a heap of EA81 misc. parts, lots of EA82 stuff, some mid-to-late 70's items too. This is it folks, last call of last calls. After this,no more last calls.:-p If someone can bring a truck on either Satruday or Sundat it'll help.Sunday would be better. If you can stick around a while on Saturday,a truch would help later in the afternoon and into the early evening. Things that I'll be getting rid of besdies the parts are listed in a post somewhere...I think in the off topic forum. But I'll list some here. FREE: storage cabinets-I have a few and will let some go.There's some metal, some wood. metal cart with wheels/casters some wood/lumber and construction materials like gypsum, masonite,MDF pieces, plywood pieces-might be a whole sheet of at least one size (1/2",or 3/8",etc.) We might give away our washer and dryer too. There's a nearly new hot water tank (electric) is someone wants it for $75 let me know ASAP.
  11. I'll be up there early so show up as early as you want to. ...the car in NY is for Connie.Should be an interesting event bringing it back.
  12. No,it's not registered.I guess you have more sense than I did when I was 21. I can toss you an old plate that might fool mom.
  13. Hang on,Matt forgot about the toll on the Tappan Zee Bridge (rt. 287). You pay coming this way but don't pay going home. But otherwise that's the recommended route.I think the toll is $4.They just went up again. The Brat is plenty driveable, just loud. It'll make MD for sure. It'd be really cool if you can bring a battery so I can keep this one. Saturday is going to be busy at the shop,no moving things since I have invited people to come up and browse,pick,etc....When the smoke clears maybe I'll make a run later at night,we'll see.I wish I had more time for all this stuff. And now the coupe I won.....oh boy,why do I do this to myself?
  14. hmmmm, was the same time of year, last year..... Brian, wake up! Winter is over, come out of the cave.... I can't say much,I'm a little behind on some items too.
  15. I know you can still strip it down at my place. We can leave it there for the landlord to steam over. Seriously,I can probably help you out depending on the situation. I might/should have an engine. What,no phone call??
  16. I sure will.A local guy who unfortunately is not on the board yet,and has a collection I think we'd all love to have,is going to take what '75 4WD wagon parts I have that I won't be needing.I'll try to set some smaller parts aside for you.Stuff that ships easily enough. Talk to you soon, Paul
  17. I need one or two of those style centercaps.Any extras of those anywhere?....anybody else out there see/have any?
  18. Yup,I've seen light blue sedans around that were definitely RX's
