  1. That’s yours down in New Canaan ? I saw that and another cheap one in Stamford I think still up on Craigslist. Tempted but have my hands full now. GD - glad to hear that. I’m running a family on 92-94 Legacys (3). And in the above mentioned affluent Fairfield County.
  2. Early Coupes had disk brakes from 72 onward. Standard line didn’t get disks until 1976 I think. So only 76 and 77 stage one which are nothing different than stage two 77-79.
  3. I think you have a stage two , not that it matters. Stage one is the same at the wheels. Whats the mfg tag say on your car ? Look on the drivers door. Just curious.
  4. My apologies if this has been previously submitted. We would often ask about Skip up to just what seems like right up to his passing. Yes , it looks like our dear friend and great member of our community passed away last August. Something made me look up Skip today. First I looked up Rolling Rock Beer , because that was Skip’s brand. Yes , the did bring it back and it’s still on the market. Skip , Godspeed brother ! Green number 33 I will surely raise to you next chance I get. The obituary: Skip” Gary Dankmyer, 66 of Bradenton, FL passed away August 13, 2018. Born in Pittsburgh, PA and became a snow bird from 2004 to 2011 when he permanently moved to Bradenton from New Alexandria, PA. Skip was a member of the Triumph Club of Western Pennsylvania, Attended Thiel College in Greenville, PA and earned a Masters at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. He was an avid car collector, Harley Davidson Enthusiast, a loving master to his black lab Watson and best friend of Tom and Alice Proffer. Predeceased by his Parents, William Frederick Dankmyer and Mary Louise Dankmyer; wife, Georgean F. Dankmyer. Survived by his sister, Sheila Louise Mangeno. There will be no Services. Brown & Sons Funeral homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel 604 43rd Street West Bradenton, Florida 34209 in charge of arrangements. Condolences to: www.brownandsonsfuneral.com
  5. Not truly but there are indicators which would tell you it’s not rolled over yet. How do the pedals look ? Is the “Caution” decal still in the drivers door ?
  6. Easy enough in the end. Went to Autopart International as they’ve been very reliable with having items in stock. Pay a little more but I never have any problems. Hillbilly bleed of the brakes using a 2x2 of a particular length and the drivers seat. Works , done it several times. When you’re alone and don’t have the bleeder tool you improvise. Nice parking brake once again. Good pedal action , all back to normal.
  7. Rain delay. Should be back at it later today. I took the whole bracket off. Had to relocate the car so I clamped the piston and didn’t hit the brakes anyways - blessed are the manual shifts in times like this!! First order will be disconnecting the line and getting the unit to a workable place , and maybe heat and beat. Although when I saw what I’d done already in daylight I’ve peen’d the casting over at the stud trying to beat it back on. So I’ll be shopping for a caliper and stud.
  8. 92 front wheel drive Legacy right rear caliper top stud is moving , as in its loose but I can’t seem to get a good enough grip on the stud to then try to loosen the caliper off of it. So when I pivoted the caliper upward the stud was turning itself out and no matter what I did I couldn’t get the caliper to slide off the stud. It was getting dark and I just had to leave it. I’m sure I’ll get it freed up but just had to vent and see who says what for advice. I used propane flame and a 2 lb hammer but I’m afraid I’m going to destroy the caliper casting. Its at a point that I can’t slide it off nor can I return it to a position that allows the caliper to seat back down with new pads. I really just want it off entirely now so I can remove the rust , get a new stud , and who knows what else. The whole job went up and down but success was had and it was wrap up time. Don’t you know this had to happen. Replaced bearing and parking shoes firstly the saw I had fresh pads in stock. I did soak it with PB Blaster before I left it for the night.
  9. The Alloy pile , we want to see the alloy pile !!! And the shed with the uncracked dashboards. Go man !
  10. And I want to say New England really has or had these characters , but modern times and jackass power happy zoning people and lawyers and more have made life impossible for these types going forward. In my mind there’s still some old bugger up in VT with a motherload to blow our minds. Maine or N.H. I could also picture similar. Those adventures are the best ! The thrill of the find , screw the chase LOL !! And Charlie , we miss you , brother !!!! RIP
  11. Lol , yeah I’ve witnessed these types of properties. Our buddy Charlie was a King with his hoarding. Go for the motorcycle engine. Snowmobile engine would really rip. Lol Be smart now young fellow ! Don’t forget brakes !! Not sure how you upgrade those. Edit - I read again and yes bigger wheels so you’re obviously upgrading brakes. And Congratulations ! That sounds like the absolute ONLY way I would let the 360 Bug bite me. Great find !
  12. Note to all: When shipping any Media Mail I advise you to add insurance. It’s cheap and the person on the other end will appreciate it as much as you. Un-insured Media Mail is gone forever and you are beat. The buyer may get their refund but you the shipper are out of luck. So , going forward I will only ship Media Mail with insurance. The cost is typically just a few dollars , like $2-3 that’s it. Protection is priceless. Typical media mail price on an average size thick service manual is usually around $2.xx to $4.xx and adding insurance brings that up to around $5-6 just so it’s clearly stated. No more getting Media shipped from me at the bottom line. It’s not worth the aggravations when they lose your item. Cheers!
  13. Two manuals sold and another I donated to the new owner of my old 1978 4WD wagon. I’ll edit the first post soon. Help float the USMB !!!!
  14. One sold and money donated. Another spoken for awaiting payment. Check original post for edits. Shawn , take some money and get yourself something on me , please. Thanks for two decades of USMB.
  15. Bump , and One manual has been sold. You guys who spoke up about manuals , I would appreciate a follow through. Just donated $20 from the sale of one manual. The Ultimate Goal is for me to sell all five manuals (original listing) and donate it to the USMB. Make it so !
  16. There’s another issue that applies as well. The black plastic flying saucer/hat looking part upstream of the carburetor breaks apart and small pieces of the plastic end up in the carb. This caused one longtime board member to have a wide open throttle driving my former 86 Brat back after I sold it to him. It really happened. Good luck , let us know what you found.
  17. Ya know , I’m going through storage now and I suddenly don’t see any. I know I sold at least one set and that I once had three sets. So the sad answer is not at this time. But I sure do hope to rediscover a set that should be buried in the one corner I haven’t gotten to yet. One of my sets was super low miles set from a Subaru of America exec I came to know who sold me his 79k mike Brat. Just had his info and bill of sale in my hands yesterday. If that set shows up I’ll let you know.
  18. Oh , and we had a guy from Maine drive all the way down to south Jersey to meet up with a bunch of knuckleheads from this board for some trail riding. He had a Brat with an XT engine in it , lifted and Kawasaki green. I am pretty sure his board name was ZXBrat denoting his Kawi afflictions. Man that was 2001 just after the 9/11 tragedy. You saw the smoke/dust still pouring into the sky from the WTC as you crossed the GWB. Huge American flag hanging on the bridge. Memories.
  19. Ahh , just read your profile , pardon my ignorance. Ever been in contact with Junkyard Gabe ? He was down around Freeport along the shore. Good yard , good guy.
  20. North Salem NY is Hayfields , but I didn’t see any events happening with a quick glance. The big one that you want to catch for sure , eventually is Caffeine and Carbs in New Canaan CT - check them online. They sometimes are downtown and sometimes at Waveny Park. Can’t go wrong with this meet. You’ll see it all from Paganis to unrestored funky classics.
