  1. I do have a good used compressor. Clutch looks and spins ok but I’d like to feel as secure as possible , so I’d be willing to spend for a new clutch.
  2. Any experiences you can share would be much appreciated. Are there any kits that are specific and actually fit correctly ? I am not going to buy any general assortment type of deal and have a thousand O rings I don’t need. The car is a 94 so it’s all set with 134a , got that going for us. It’s still fairly low miles with just over 135k I think. Wife’s car. She has suffered these past two summers with crappy a/c or non at all. We love these classics so pardon me. Also , I’ve wanted to do my own compressor clutch swap. Are there reliable clutches out there you have used with success ? Being the car is so old and we still want to keep it going , should I invest in a new core ? And how much of a pain is that job ? I have already had a 92-94 dashboard out so I’m not afraid. If I go this deep I’m thinking I’ll do the heater core too. Anything else you can think of ? The hard lines look pretty good but this is salty New England and pitting sure does happen. Any cheap easy coating or replace only with those ? I’m not sure how any coating would affect the sweating/condensation. If that matters. I’ve got until next May to do this now. Thank you September !
  3. Probably not the Pedal Box Issue but sounds like you should check it off the list anyways. Get down there and depress the clutch pedal as you look closely at the clutch side of the pedal box. On the first Gen cars this is super common. The pivot of the clutch pedal tends to bind over time and cause the sheet metal of the pedal box to flex and crack. Look close and then check it off the list if I’m wrong.
  4. Tony , welcome and let’s see your new skid plate.
  5. Yeah but you know all those cool little buttons n stuff and you’ve got a drone ... my posts are stale by comparison. Post counts lol yeehaa
  6. That’s going to have the side starter. Lots of options if you care to search. Most folks are going to upgrade to a 90-95 EJ22 , but you’ll have to go by budget , availability , time you’re willing to devote , space to work , etc. Not experienced but I think the EA82 will fit but be very tight as I recall. Archives will tell you. Did meet a guy who drove a long way to off-road / meet with other USMB member and his Gen II Brat has the XT6 engine stuffed into it.
  7. Wow !!! In 2019 you scored that well on a gen one vehicle ! You did the right thing! Congrats on the score. And the Peugeot looks bitchin to me. Surf wagon.
  8. Not insulting you or anyone else so why make that comment ? Relax. It’s the timing and that’s that. Best of luck with it. Check it all again.
  9. Yup read it all. Had too many of these cars. Is this your first ?
  10. I’m doing ok , thanks for asking. Welcome aboard. Which dessert ? Nice to have machinist / tool maker friends !!
  11. I sure do understand the excitement of such a road trip. But 7 hours of fuel times two has to be way more $ than just having one sent to you. But again , it’s the excitement factor and the mystery of what else might be there. Take pic please ! Share the thrill.
  12. I don’t know if we are talking about the same thing. Only now do I see you mention “real” which I assume you mean to be rear. When I replied to your message I thought you meant the air dam “spoiler” I just sold. If you mean the dust/snow deflector , I might have one but can’t promise. Haven’t seen one in my stuff in a decade. Time will tell if one still exists in my stash.
  13. First gen only. And I’m pretty sure I have one. Lately I’ve got a lot going on that has kept me from storage , but this coming week things open up. I’ll check later in the coming week.
  14. Does the engine stamp have an “M” at the front of the ID number ?
  15. Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM EDT Westport Town Hall 110 Myrtle Ave Westport, Ct 06880 Air cooled show Hoping to see you and the 360 there.
  16. ATK rebuilds most likely. I have one in a crate like yours. Have had a couple come through and passed one along. Nobody else has them so it’s hard to place a price. A board member who lives near SOA headquarters managed to get some new - not rebuilt - blocks , transmissions , and I think heads too out of their main warehouse when SOA was doing some cleaning in the early 2000’s. Todd (Subaru3) got at least one and I managed to get a fresh block. When I just sold my 78 this past year I would not budge on $1800 because of the NEW block from SOA with fresh heads. The car was probably a $500 car so looking at it this way I got $1300 for my engine after putting about 1100 miles on it. But that’s showing the next owner that it runs and needs nothing.
  17. Don’t sweat the comment. He means well. The 2.2 aqua bleed has been talked about a lot , but I’m like you and often just post before researching. Or my searches seem to produce less of a solution than desired. And if you’re like me you don’t have time to read every post like an obsessive , so you also miss a lot of info... therefore you post. I do the same and if somebody needs to waste more time calling me out on it let them waste their time. It’s always been a great board and always cool , just some folks get annoyed with other people’s posts being what they feel is redundant. I’d rather converse here than the book of face anytime. I must be lucky because we own 3 1992-4 EJ22 cars and I’ve done engine swaps , radiators , intake , etc. and never did I need to remove the upper hose and also never needed any extreme nose lift. My method - fill the radiator as old school , run the engine , heat on is best , cap off and little filler open you slowly fill the bleeder and watch the radiator , it’ll balance out just stay on top of it. I’m sure I’m a hack but with several of these under my belt I’m still cruising. Just up the road from you but I’m busy like crazy lately. If I can get some time I’ll run down there.
  18. Yeah I’ve been watching it. CT is weird these days. I can’t believe they haven’t sold. This new millennium is bs.
  19. And they will rub on turns only so be aware of that if you fit them up and all looks great. Turn the steering wheel and look again. Just sayin’ Incase you can’t resist these. People are always asking me for those wheels. If cheap enough they might work for you or you can pass them along easily.
  20. Spacers behind the wheel. I was at an old dealer and they had a pile of them for the 4x140 wheels but I wouldn’t expect to find them easily now. Those wagons did have wagon wheel options but they are third generation of those wheels and the setback isn’t so severe. If those wheel you’re showing are from the 80-84 era they will rub on your outer tie rod. You can grind the rod end if no spacers. But I don’t really go for that method , even though others have done it. Probably something in archives about it.
