  1. Dashboard at the far left (drivers USA ) right up by the windshield. Also stamped into the unibody in the engine bay on the firewall. Its a gen one so you can’t go wrong. 78 , 79 not a big deal. 78 will have black lower panels on the seats.
  2. Enjoy !!! Just sold a hood release cable. Might have another buried away. I have tons of parts for those. New and used. My guess is you’ll love this one more than your second gen as soon as you get it looking pretty again. 78 will have points , 79 electronic disty. You’re a smart guy , you’ll figure it all out. Plenty of factory service manuals out there.
  3. Subaru3 - Todd , likely has a nice one from back in the day well preserved. My stock might hold one that would give you a good idea to match but I’m not sure how soon I’ll come up with one. Sorry , hope Todd or someone has a nice example for you. As for a color number - that’s something I don’t ever recall hearing about.
  4. I just put some on eBay. I don’t have much 80’s stuff , only a very few random items. i know I listed an ashtray , a grab handle for rear right door with a couple cargo cover catches , couple other items or so I am too tired to think of at the moment. Look me up - cashingmystuffin on eBay. My items (Subaru) are mostly 1970’s. Bailed out of the 80’s cars long ago. Random stuff pops up now and then. Enjoy !
  5. Front valance or “lower skirt” as some refer to it. Pretty sure those and the 4WD wagon are the same. They all get banged up but if your wagon has one that’s at least workable it could be a smile on your face one day to at least have one.
  6. Like Bennie said. basics like fuel pump , components , front struts - save your top mounts unless they’re hopeless , 4WD related items , front end steering / suspension , engine , tranny , linkage , radiator , consider cutting the front radiator support Incase of a front end accident , windshield ( nice n careful and yes you can ) , dashboard , shifters , heaterbox (or at least salvage the parts that break - look for white plastic etc. , dome lights , wiper motor , steering wheel complete. That’ll keep you for most of your lifetime and maybe help the next guy too.
  7. Danny Williams in Johnson City or near there these days , he is/was a junkie for those 80-84 Coupes and in general a Gen Two guy. If you’re local or find Danny on the Internet he may be helpful down the line. I’m pretty sure he had parts yet to unload and maybe a Brat or Hatchback to help you out. “dannybreadman” - definitely on eBay , and maybe here too. Not that your Brat needs anything , looks great. But I don’t have to tell you about being on the east side of the USA and how rare these are becoming. Enjoy !
  8. Not sure where you’re at with your diagnosis but I’d just like to say that if you’re tracing and can’t find what’s wrong go to the pump , and check the connector that feeds through the cover. Mine toasted out and I spent way too much time hunting the relay and all that. Good luck.
  9. There’s a lot of copy parts out there. They copy the box , label , everything. Just saying. I can’t imagine real genuine Subaru wires doing that.
  10. Have some fun with what you’re doing but don’t throw those 2.2’s out. There are plenty of negatives involved but you seem to have a handle on things. Go for it Post back with results. But all that said , gee those kits for the 2.2 and vast amount of knowledge makes it a tough choice to go 2.7 Any references out these on this project ?
  11. Precision Replacement Parts contracted the mold maker in Thailand for our Gen One cars - and Brat of course. We made two group purchases with members here. We ended up getting ours for around $38 before shipping.
  12. Was the strip of foam still on the fender ? Subaru used a sealant foam as a squeak reducer and that over time caused countless fenders to develop that same rust. Good luck with it. Not much to worry about on yours.
  13. Do the EA65’s have quad exhausted and sleeve cylinders ? Nice cars ! , Ricardo. Enjoy!
  14. 89 is Injection not carb. Likely SPFI which was always good to me back when I had too many of those cars. What happened to Walbro ? Do they still have pumps for the old EA82? They sure used to. See if any if this nonsense helps you. https://www.google.com/search?q=walbro+fuel+pump+subaru+loyale&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari
  15. Not a real update but I did move the car under its own power. Just let the clutch out and it crept forward on flat ground and made little metal noise. Went about 50 ft into another parking space. Condo life. Have to keep it moving. No time for it at all. Continue soon. I hope.
  16. Your rear brakes and drums are the same as the later 1980-84 and I think maybe same as Loyale 85-95 too.
  17. There were never any first generation automatic Brats. Not sure what you saw. Maybe second generation. There were a few auto’s
  18. For that money just get it and live out the experience. GD paints a dark picture but guys like myself still exist and have parts to unload. In fact most of us agree there are sometimes more parts than there are cars. GD is somewhat correct due to the passing of time. But for the amount of items you’ll likely need I’m confident you’ll do well to support your ride for a good twenty years if you score some important parts and care for it as best as you can. You can find my new old stock and great used 1970’s and gen one Brat parts on eBay currently. I don’t like being there but the exposure can’t be beat and I’ve made contacts around the globe. Flippers (resellers) are buying my items and listing sometimes 10x my price. That’s a fact , not a scare tactic. Theres at least a few other guys out there still hoarding their new old stock and also piles of used parts. Enjoy while you can. You like that Brat , it’s tours , show it and enjoy the smiles and waves. Ebay name - cashingmystuffin not shown are items like engines fenders valance glass transmissions , etc etc etc and all 1972-79 and Brat 80-81
  19. Holy crap , this sounds very familiar. Like you I have a 2003 manual and had a very similar if not the same issue. Like you I have had no time to review , but I did smell gear oil. Thanks for the advice. I was already looking at used trannies and considering rebuilding since they all seem to have issues. Keep posting please , especially with your repair. Thanks
