  1. Most of the gang has gone to face dook. I kind of hate it but also participate on occasion. Tried selling parts there but kind of annoying and getting people to follow up is often a chore. Theres an Ultimate Subaru Message Board group. Then a couple old school groups I take part in. Good luck. Of course I’m assuming you didn’t know those so pardon me if you’ve already been there.
  2. Enjoy that ride !!! Keep the mice out. Mothballs work. Just don’t let them sit directly on carpet or plastic.
  3. Hey guys - anyone left here ??! - as many of you know I am cleaning storage out big time. For those new or who didn’t know , I have a lot of vintage Subaru parts mostly from 1972-1979 and Gen I Brat. Still have lots of New Old Stock items and plenty of great used items. If you saw this and still have an early Subaru please bump this thread up and correct any list you may have made in the past and please bump it up into a revised post. Gettng cold fast but I see better weather coming next week. Trying to get parts out and make some deals. Check eBay as I’ve sadly become an active seller these days. I don’t like it , so make contact here. Save us both.
  4. Andrew Parker now in MA foremerly and sometimes still from CT. His would be closest to you , Jack. He’s not on here so much anymore but you can find him on face dook. Andrew Clavie-Parker is the name he uses. He would have plenty of info and advice.
  5. 77 Stage one or Stage two ? Subafreak has my 76 GF maroon fenders with 56k on them. Being 76 they are Stage one. i also have at least one New Old Stock 77 Stage two thru 79. I’m in CT and use Greyhound for large items like these. And there’s a drivers side Stage two fender in Fiberglass on eBay right now.
  6. That's what I’m talking about ! Nice job. Not a USMB posting but who cares. Still do some research here if you have further questions. It was a hot topic a decade ago or so.
  7. I’m dead positive all that info is back there in archives. Extracting it shouldn’t be too challenging. Search that 80’s forum and the expected keywords. Not fair for a non mod guy to offer any advice so I’m not of much help other than what I think I’ve seen presented here. There were adapter plates made for the 1800’s bellhousing to EJ’s. This is one thing going forward that I hope people appreciate about “old” message boards. The info you want is here in archives. Face Dook your inquiry would get mostly smart rump roast remarks and fade off into oblivion. Decades of knowledge here ! Wisdom around every corner. Good luck.
  8. You’re in a very fortunate area for elder Subarus. Enjoy !
  9. I see your location as Lebanon but that could mean the Middle East , Connecticut , or probably a handful of states. If you were up here in CT or any state where rust is a problem I would treat the wheel aprons with tar or whatever you choose. Especially around the horizontal seam near the top. Clean and inspect the fuel filler tube. Check wheel bearings. You already mentioned the rest. Good luck.
  10. You’re special , Jim. The young fellow at the counter made me use my phone and buy online for my discount. But if John was there I’m sure it’d be different. Anthony has waived the magic wand at the counter at least once for me. Second vote for our local subarupartsforyou.com
  11. Apache Junction as in east of Phoenix ? I’ve got fenders here in CT. My son is in Tempe and either he or I might be driving out there sometime between late October thru the winter if you can wait. Shipping like that I normally use Greyhound. From my experience I’d guess that fender would ship for around $60-70 I have one New Old Stock and a couple used. Send a private message here or email me at moosens@yahoo com if interested. *** check car-part.com and see if there’s anything closer. Good luck. @@@@ mine are solid. Forget about this being New England and rust. The used ones might show a hint of light rust like even the West gets over time but I assure you mine are not rotted and not pitted. And I can get pics soon.
  12. Cool car and nice intro. Glad you found help here over other sources. White wagons like that were my life for a decade or so. Enjoy ! Dual range five speed swapped in or did you retain the single range ? Cheers!
  13. Get the kit as mentioned but also inspect really well the entire body (reservoir) for cracks especially around the line fittings. Kits are abundant.
  14. Pardon me for looking at your profile but if it’s with minimal rust it’ll be fun for a good while. Romance it , play with it , just don’t hold great long term expectations as mentioned above. Given what was said keep in mind there are hoarders out there with parts and they will show up. Some yards , you’re in CO so not far from occassional action. You can string it along a few years and get your kicks-per-dollar value as I like to say. Good second , third car. You know he deal , treat it right and it’ll give you plenty of miles and fun in return. Good luck with the adventure. Enjoy!
  15. Mix both ? Dual range from the 85-89 mated to the coolness of the more vintage and lighter 80-84 Good luck. Post pics. I don’t recall a 2.5 in that old body style but they’re probably out there.
  16. Grounding points for starters. Pretty sure under one of the seats or carpet you’ll find the relays and quite often there’s corrosion going on. Other folks will help more.
  17. Don’t park it next to the garbage for a better picture. Lol Just teasing. We few old school people here are going to appreciate your taking on one of ours. Being an 88 should be SPFI in the USA. Been a while since I’ve run a Loyale body or EA82 engine. Random info which may help: Be sure the air duct system is tight. Your fuel pump is under the car passenger side rear and sits on a little shelf. Fresh fuel filter ??
  18. East coast married won’t retire till I’m 80 as well. welcome , what’s it doing ? I’ll check to see if you posted about it. Cheers!
  19. Marketplace forum. Slap some details on it there. Sounds like a decent enough ride for someone. Good luck.
  20. I’m sorry , you are talking rubber and not plastic. Pardon me for not focusing. Lol Those are just about impossible to fix as mentioned. Find them now because they’re already not being made anymore and shelf stock is depleting.
  21. Seems all remedies are short term. There is a black trim paint that I’ve used in my dad’s old Ranger and it looks really great almost two years later. I’ve also fudged with shoe polish and it also looks good but doesn’t hold up more than a few months before it fades some. If it’s true rubber - which I don’t think it is - there was a recommendation from a member who used Rubber Rejuvenator as she did in the printing industry. I never heard of anyone else trying it but she felt it was the deal.
  22. To me your wheel looks like a chromed Calmaster. But I’m not very knowledgeable on those.
  23. http://www.indysworld.com/subaru/gallery/wheels/wheels.html try that
  24. Welcome back. Better days to you! But wait , there’s another superstorm coming .... just kidding. :) Good luck.
  25. Welcome ! Sounds like it’ll be a truly refreshed vehicle ready for a long second life. I make composite blades at Sikorsky. Currently in tail rotors for Blackhawks. Enjoy !
