  1. Just went thru the time and trouble of swapping a nicer dash into my '83 Brat. It's crack free but very brittle. Any suggestions on chemical products that will help keep it crackless? I already have a fitted dash mat to keep the sun off it. Thanks.
  2. 2nd vote for Chevron 15w-40. I'm running it in my '86 carby wagon with no problems. I like Wix oil filters as well.
  3. Will the dash from a '83 wagon bolt into a '83 brat? Both are analog.
  4. Here is a link to a guy that has built a few adapters...good info. http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~camncath/weber_to_subaru.htm
  5. FSM confirms Alltalk is on the money. To get back on topic... Since Caleb's gl-10 probably has AC:
  6. I'm pretty sure the vac can is for the heater controls. Let me bust out the FSM again to double check.
  7. '87 FSM: Here's a diagram from Skip. I wired up a second fan this way.
  8. I'm trying to work a deal for some 15" aluminum pugs. They're free as long as I can replace them so the car can roll. Will stock sube wheels bolt up to a peugeot and clear the calipers ect?
  9. Light coat of permatex copper spray... CCR does this to their HG's as well.
  10. Nothing "bigger" will bolt right up to your tranny and be an easy swap and cost only 110$. I'd go with the ea-82. Clean it up and give it new seals, oil pump, water pump, timing belts and idlers while it's out. Drop it in and drive it. What kind of car do you have?
  11. Sweet! What are your plans for the powerlant? Ever kick around the idea of building an offroad cart? Knobbys, some clearance maybe even 4WD. Might be able to reconfigure a 4 wheeler into kind of a "mini me" for the big blue beast. A Brat cart that flat out hauls would be cool too. Keep us posted!
  12. On my '86 there is a strap attached to a latch in the center of the seat cushion. I usually have to fish it out from where the seatbacks meet the cushion. Pull the latch and the bottom seat cushion folds forward so that the seatbacks will fold down flat. Don't know if this is different for the loyales.
  13. Impact screwdriver? The kind you hit with a hammer. You can rent them pretty cheaply. Otherwise the dremel is a good idea. I use mine more than I ever thought I would. Good luck and when ever you get pics of the Legacy seats send 'em over. Dustindflowers@yahoo.com
  14. Great info. I haven't torn into mine yet but now I soon will. I couldn't stand to look at mine either and put in a mechanical guage after swapping the electrical sending unit 3 times. Thanks fellas.
  15. There is a pin on the end of the camshafts so the pulleys can only go on one way. I'd line up everything at TDC and see if your rotor is pointing at the #1 plug wire to check the disty.
  16. Pretty sure that the cubby between the seats isn't deep enought to accept a an aftermarket cd player even if you cut the bottom out. You might be able to make it fit but you'll probably have to modify the tranny tunnel. The easiest and cleanest install would be to use this dash kit: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14306&highlight=camo+dash You don't have to go the camo route tho, if you don't want to. You can find them for sale here: http://www.spysupply007.com/Car_Stereo/Install_kits/subaru/ or http://www.crutchfield.com/S-X2nNZO8o95z/cgi-bin/ProdGroup.asp?c=11&g=112200&s=0&cc=01&avf=Y&search Here's how mine turned out: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14957 Good luck!
  17. I think his board name is Subusolo2nut. Here is his website: http://performancebydesign.netfirms.com Check out the project page. Hope that helps out.
  18. Good Job. Thanks for posting your results as it may help others down the road.
  19. This pic is of an "A" bar for a EA-81 that I used as a model for the one I built for my EA-82. Mine is a total custom job as I had some front end damage that pushed the lower radiator support around. Had to "eyeball" everything but it came out all right. Building it yourself give you lots of freedom. I built in a beefy skidplate as well. Good luck!
