Rims painted and complete (sorry 56k's)
I gotta say it. You guys were ready to ban me when I showed a couple of pics of my car with its 17s, so where's your mud that would make this an off road topic? But while we're on the subject, you are gonna want to paint the outter rings better, they will show up after you put on your tires.

impromptu cabin wheeling trip?
I'm headed out there tomorrow a.m. till Sunday a.m. Anybody who cares to drop in and get a little wheeling under their belt is welcome. We have some pretty sweet trails right on the property. Chimacum, on the Olympic Penninsula. Lemme know. PM me for a map.

Twin A arm suspension...
Yeah yeah. We've been thru that already. Starts with pug wheels. Ends with nissan transfer case and solid axle. Still a Subaru, still welcome in the comunity. I just get tired of these fantasy posts. ("what if. . .") How about more posts saying "Look what I did!"

Evans Creek Off ROad Vehicle Park 4X4 run July 8-9?
Everybody busy? Not sure their Soobie is up to it? Too far? What's up? The first time I ever went thru, it was in a group of 5 stock Soobs. Plenty of fun to be had.

Old School Video, wheelin with the Hatch Patrol.
I found the cd of the videos you made. It's got all of us going in and then out. There's 2 others that I couldn't open for some reason, codec or some crap. Send me a pm with your snail mail addy, I'll throw a copy in an envelope and send it off. You guys have a copy of the "EZ's Favorites", go for it. Sweet! I'd love to see what you can do. Send me a PM with your US addy, I'll make some copies to send.

Old School Video, wheelin with the Hatch Patrol.
Bummer. Kinda says something about the spotters. I spotted Ken, who was spotting me. But really. I took a long time cuz I was taking the line up the side rather than just going thru. Ken had a welded diff. . . I was open still. Lemme know, we'll whip out an hour's worth of DVD, I've got a tape ready to go.

Roll call for lifted Imprezas
The attachments you added show exactly the problem I had putting in the WRX struts and springs. The top hats are completely different.

Lifting my 90 legacy wgn
Gotcha. This is what I'm talking about. I assumed the leg and imp struts were the same in a wagon. . . Who can say? The OB spring has more coils, they are wider and thicker as well.

TAHUYA! pics and video of a perfect day to wheel!
Coolest stump pose yet! Jump in that thing with him and join us at Evans Creek on July 8 and 9. Make it happen man!

Roll call for lifted Imprezas
I used 96 legacy outback (kyb) struts and (stock) springs. I had some initial problems with clunking in the rear. It was because the bottom spring perch was rubbing against the inner wall. So I pulled them off and hit it plenty with the bfh on both sides and got rid of the clunking. It's good and raked in the back. I like it. I'm old school, you shoulda seen my 69 mustang when I was 18.

Mark your calendars: SubieFest 06
I don't mind dinging up the OBS.

Lifting my 90 legacy wgn
Yeah, I undstood. I initially put my OBS springs onto the OB struts when I put them on. The springs were so much shorter that I could put the tops back on by hand. The rump roast end was a little taller, but the springs clunked because the struts had more travel than the springs. So when I added the OB springs, it got waaaay taller and much stiffer. With a tank of gas and fully loaded it rides like a cadilac. But the legacy is probably closer to the weight of an Outback than an OBS so maybe the legacy (wagon) spring is stiffer than one on an OBS. But I think the OB strut is taller, so the OB spring should be taller to fill the extra travel.

Lifting my 90 legacy wgn
About an inch and a half taller I think. A little stiffer. The OB strut has a longer travel by 1 and 1/2 inches.

Impreza springs with Forester struts?
The only difference between the OBS and (plain) imp is paint and a couple of stickers. I had clunking issues when I tried to add WRX struts and springs to the blue one. The shoulder at the top of the strut requires a washer about 1/4-1/2 inch thick. So I removed them untill I get some.

Lifting my 90 legacy wgn
Disregard most of what Tubo Brat just said. No disrespect Turbo Brat. But. The 90-94 legacys are exactly the same when it comes to suspension. If you would have used the tops from the OB that the springs came from, you woulda been doing it right. And. Yes, they hit at the bottom, but if you install them right and beat back the inner wall a little where they're rubbing, you'll be fine. Curious where you read it? And yes you can. I believe there's a write-up in the FAQ just above this thread.

Impreza springs with Forester struts?
Here's a different before and after. I've done some trimming on the green car, doesn't look too "hacked" to me. Still looks close, but they would rub severely on a stock OBS.
-
Impreza springs with Forester struts?
My car does the same thing, but I like it. Before I got the OB springs to go with the OB struts, I had to use my stock OBS springs. I wasnt' happy. Without spring compressors, I was able to install the springs on teh struts and tighten the nut on top by hand. Yeah, that loose. The OB strut has an inch and a half more up travel. I would recommend looking into a regular legacy wagon rear spring. Might be a happy medium. EZ

bored, took a couple flex pics
That's the first thing I saw, but I figure'd I'd at least read the whole thread before saying something. If you pull off some flex like that while on it a little off road. . . You'll be changing out some axles. I'd recommend limiting straps. Looks very cool though. (that would be me who went thru and got rid of the PBR BS. Please take that stuff to OT. ) Say, did you every finish the video?
