  1. i took an anus load of pix today with the mavica. I got a lot of the needed pics of soob parts. i will have them up later to view, until they are worked into the tech pages
  2. tim, i found some got photos that would be valuable for my tech pages. Your page is also linked to in USMB members links on my links page
  3. the alt bracket from the ea81 will swap pber. you may need a different belt
  4. i had the idea of usint the ea81 rear suspension in the gen1 brat on the front, the ea81 crossmember will bolt up, so wouldnt that mean an ea81 lift will work in the front? and a lift in the rear can adapt the mounts for the suspenion frame, you might be able to use ea81 gas tank the diff bar hanger will bolt up the same as an ea81
  5. my carbureted spfi motor in the 87 turbo wagon does the same thing. i can get on it, but at higher speeds it will dook out aroud3-4000 rpm,and it wouls stall. but sometimes it ran fine, off and on it was a hitachi carb from an ea82 on an spfi block, all stripped down.
  6. that legacy is pimp! 1ABAJA will taking pics of his legacy, hos o3 legacy, and the 93 impreza. the impreza will be getting a clutch and an EJ22 from a legacy. it has 15's on it, and nwr axles. THANX AKIRA i will be using the rust repair in sequence, a few others.
  7. what about a 4wd automatic ea82 driveshaft. because its shorter than the 5spds, snd the spd fits in an ea81 wagon(w/ 5spd) so if the autos is shorter, would it be the right length for a hatch( if doing a 5spd swap)? you could also look for 4wd hatch driveshafts
  8. i would say restore it in the sense of getting it mechanically sond, new seals, axles, turbo brats are kinda rare, only 83 and 84 it has the EA81 motor, the pushrod version of the 1800. later 85 and up have EA82 timing belt motors but since its starting to rust, that make it grounds for a project! make it a good running off roader.
  9. YES pictures would be very useful. i am dping write ups and need pics. take all the pics that you can, i will put them on my website. i have swapped both ea81 and ea82 into ea81 cars, and both with 5spds from 2wd to 4wd, and 2wd auto to 4wd 5spd d/r TrashWagon5 has ea82 front suspension, motor, tranny, and reasr suspension, in an 83 wagon. pictures of the motor out of the car and ea82's going in, this would be a great opportunity take pics of the distributor clearance, take it out to install the motor, you will have to relocate the hill holder, though i used the ea82 flywheel. but we put an ea82 behind an ea81 2wd 5spd, we drilled the holes out of the flywheel to be bigger to use ea82 bolts. the pattern is the same. did it on a drill press. but the 4wd 4spd ea81's pressure plate will fit on the ea82 flywheel, use the 4spd clutch from the transmission get shots of the crossmember from several angles when the motor is out....
  10. i believe the driveshaft will swap, if you use the same transmission you will want 4 inches, i had 6 on mine, had LOTS of room under there for even a spare auxilary fuel tank... i took the lift out, it was home-made
  11. no matter what motor its on, the pulley with the BOLT-ON pulley is the short one 100mm the ones that have the pulley go over the studs on the water pump itself, it is the long one 110mm:wave:
  12. jerry's wpuld make you an excellent shifter. but send him the one from the transmission you are using, and your ea81 4wd handle
  13. weld a nut to the plug, use your favorite size. that will get it off if its stripped out. the plug is steel. behind the plug is the water jacket.
  14. on the front there should be a height adjust ment oder the strut for 4wd and 1984 turn the nuts to tighten the spring and adjust in a renge of 1 1/2 inches the rear is especially east with an impact socket are you talkin about the front tire or the rear what size are the tires?
  15. its like his own version of TrashWagon, but without knowing about trashwagon. funnt thing too because the first trashwagon was a flying crapalier trashwagon
  16. what year were the ones you talking about from. i thougth i remembered seeing one. i would assume 85 or 86
  17. there are posts about using honda springs in the rear, and ea82 springs. people have made soem interesting unconventional desighns with their suspensiions.. there should be a tightening nut for the rear suspension, located on the top of the torsion tube. there is an access panel under the carpet behind the seat. is yours 4wd?
  18. cool. i will be browsing and saving pics. thanx for the permissions.
  19. good! i just claened out my yahoo. i can take 6 megs there can you make a zip file? or you can send it to me thru yahoomessenger: milesfox i can really get started with a forst batch of pics
  20. start paying axtra attention to the temp gauge nad the coolant level to monitor the condition. catch the signs of head gasket failute early should they occur would a re-tourqe solve the problem if the gasket is barely starting to let go?
  21. the brakes are applied depending on how hard you press the brake pedal with the cluch pressed pressing the clutch will pull the hill holder cable this closing a valve. when you hit the brake, the valve acts like a one way valve. it allows the brake pressure to go to the back wheels. how much pressure applied is how much you press the brake pedal when you release the clutch, the valve releases the pressure when pressing the clutch while driving, the hill holder does not interfere with braking, for the simple matter you are not hitting the brake pedal at the same time when pulling the motor, you can leave it hooked iup the cable will go over the motor and behind the manifold. it can be held out of the way when you disconnect all the wires and hoses fom the motor, and you can pull the motor out withthe hill holder still connected. you will want to put the new motor in with the clutch. adjust the clutch cable before you adjust the hill holder. the hill holder can be adjusted bt hand if the nut is not rusted with the ea82 motor, i suggest using the ea82 battery cables, and relocating the battery onto the other side, and relocate the coil, just run longer wires along the firewall from the original location. but you will have to cut out the jack carrier. anyway that is how i did mine
  22. no legacy, no impreza? yer the one with the camera, how about some disks? hey, get some pictures of the brat and GLF, take pics of parts and stuff, i need them for my website bring me some discs tomorrow, and bring my ms office 2000 by the subaru wall danbob: i am looking for things taken apart, individual components, engines in different stages of disassembly axle jobs, brake calipers off the car, axles off the car, anything you can see when a subaru is being worked on i especially need GOOD pics of the tierod, lower control arm where it mounts to the fame(from behind) go hog wild with the camera. get some pics of turbos and exhaust pipes out of the car. i need a shot of an spfi motor, and a carb motor. i will be using the shot of your turbo motor
