  1. does the parts you are getton the axles too. if the axles are there, you can swap the whole mess on as one piece. do you have the struts with your parts? the axle on the outer end will fit, and the splines are tha same for the rotor mo matter what the axle however your pars come, thet ca be installed as an assembly.
  2. does the pulley fit over studs on the water pump? or does it bolt to the pulley? if it slides over studs, its the long one. if the pulley bolts to the water pump, studs in pulley, its the short one
  3. well, if your transmission is a turbo full-time, it will have 25 splines the rx has 24 splines also, in its turbo dual range full-time http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/subaru/service/Strut.htm
  4. yes, pictures are great. i had not many pictures of all i have done because i dont have ready access to a camera. i want to colloct pictures i can throw in with my technical explinations. when taking pictures, read the technical info outline, and take pics accordingly. you get the idea. i will make a few ms paint diagrams myself. real pictures will be super beneficial at this point.
  5. i'll try to have more tonight.................. i have a LOT of catching up to do on my website, being only about 20% done as you see it! i want to make some smilies for the board if they will let me. i already made a fox smiley, its pimp :fox:
  6. i find it easiert ti discinnect the ps lines than remove the pump itself, as the pump will stay with the motor. tha alternator mount and ac pump can swing up and out of the way. i need to write up for panasonic, inboard, and outboaurd hitachi, all having different belt systems i like to remove the hood. TRASHWAGON6 had the motor in, out, in out, on with a comealong tied to the rafters.. i try to be general with my explination, keping the small guy in his garage in mind. like on the front cliper, i mention to use a special tool, but i also describe my method with pliers and i describe my method for ball joints, i have demonstraed it to people. i should mention a pickle fork, forgot to. i like to leave the reader with a few open options to make a choice keep in mind what i have writen so far is just from memory. i need to get my haynes book to "paraphrase" some of the more complex issues i also need to obtain pictures that can be used in the write-up although i am writing these on my site, i sent some of it to the USRM also
  7. the picture gallery and art gallery pages are now working. so is the messge board link. i am currently working on the links page, i will be collecting urls for subaru related content and websites. i am assuming permission to link to members' site (like you would mind) so if you DONT want YOUR sites linked to, speak up now
  8. hello. i have an 87 gl-10 turbo wagon 5speed too. but it has a carbbed spfi motor because the turbo motor came in the trunk. i put ti back together, it was junk. so driving around with a carb, and just replaced an axle after driving some 2000 miles with a broken/missing axle! hopefully i can find another motor (or at least a head) to go with my xt6 suspension and full-time 5speed!!! oh yeah, my first soob was an 84 4x4 dual range, too. i chopped the fenders out and had a grand am radio mounted to the door as there was no room on the dash! read about it in my webpage! check the link in my sig.
  9. are you talking about surface rust, or rusting thru.
  10. I have seen a lot of subarus with Iterstate batteries. i like them, i think they are OE for older soobs myoss feece's 87 RX had a side post delco. what? chevy guys must have worked on it. like when the car was sold for 200 bucks because it has a list of head repair needed to be done. turns out the plug wires were on backward......................
  11. I wrote some more. all of the other links that are not activated are being worked on, its what i will have i will be working on a page about the road trip, with a draft of the 50 pages i wrote in idaho, pics of wcss5, and quotes from the message board. nothing bad or to incite flames. but hey, its my website http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/Message Board
  12. Gl 10 seats can be swapped into a sedan. remove the corrugated cardboard and swap mount for the flip-down seats I was pondering XT rear seats into a sedan, the top part folds down the whole thing like a wagon, but one piece. What would have to be accomplished is the bottom swing down hinge, the mount could brobably be drilled out by tack welds(my speculation) or maybe it bolts up to something similar to a sedan rear decklid, but in the xt. the bottom part of xt seat is just like a sedan the way it mounts when i parted the xt, it reminded me of a blend of 3-door and sedan, according to my ponderings of a fastback wagon ir a e-door brat. more so much than it had to do with new gen soobs
  13. Tecnical Write-ups http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/subaru/service/SubaruService.htm the ones with links are complete. some of the information interlinks with the other pages How is it? does it make sense to you. could you fix a soob with what is written? if i left anything out, let me know, i had to go from memory with no available reference other than my own experience
  14. I'll save this topic for my website in the "subaru Mods" page maybe the xisting cruise will work with te ea82, the cruises i have seen have a vacuum diaphragm at the oedal itself, if you keep your existing speed sensor and cruise circuitry, maybe you can get it to work at the throttle end, regardless of your engine congiguration
  15. hey _Bard, if you juat wanted to swap instrument clusters for the mileage, all you need to do is take the bezel off around the cluster. i would only swap a dashboard if i were to go as far as faking titles and VIN from one to the other. john kows what i am up to, and i tell you any way t=you want to do this car can be done. the way i suggested would be the easiest cost wise, laborwise, and downtime wise. i say go for it, either alleyboy or Bard, whover ends up with thecar. and if you need something aske me, as i have done carb in turbo swaps, ea81 in ea8s swaps, automatic to manual swaps, and 2sd to 4wd swaps. i'll have some technical info on my website here after bit. stay tuned!
  16. is the cable too tight? the tighter it is the more its like having your foot ON the Pedal we had a bent pressure plate, we had to tighten the piss out of it to work right, it burnt up a new clutn in a day of baja'n. was a bad pressure plate......
  17. it will fit on an ea81 carter/weber, too. suppose you can use a longer stud, drill a hole, and use a wingnut to hold the whole thing together
  18. you anint got S*!t on my Gran Turismo! well now you see what i was talking about, going to jail and all
  19. putting an 81 glf front subframe into a 78 brat over here....
  20. hey good idea. imagine having an ea82 steering column, workinf with the cruise control and ea81 components, and yet having lights and wipers on the steering column too. suppose we could explore the possibilites of swapping all aspects of the ea82 into ea81 cars. i have put an ea82 suspension on the front of an 83 wagon. i got rear trailing arms and rear disc in back. at one time i had ea82 coilovers in place of shocks. but in order to use ea82 axles in theback, the track will have to be widened, may have to adapt an ea82 rear suspension tube in place of the trsion tube, inless there were a way to widen the torsion tube or the flange that 3 bolts to the loewer control arm the narrower track is not much different, i liked the combo torsion bar/coilover for weight handling and cornering
  21. what i meant is that all the mpfi wairing harness in the car is left alone i have a carbbed spfi motor in my turbo wagon, the mpfi wiring is still there, i can put a turbo back in. the motor was in the trunk, i started aith the carb, fixed the turbo motor and got it on, running, it blew up, went back to carb. turbo option is still there it had an ea81 carb the first time, now it has an ea82 hitachi all i had to do was change out the didtributor and fuel pump and that was IT but i think it might still work if the turbo dist is used with a carb i have done spfi ea81 to carb once and turbo to carb twice, (ea81, ea82) i have also put ea81 in a carbbed ea82 sedan this way you would have a rather modular setup. no messing with wires or anything swapping the dash for the vin would not be wiring harness related
  22. i had driven to wcss 2300 miles, and i had every tool i needed to do anything on a soob, in a convenient "Subaru Survival Kit" on the way there i changed an axle and fixed a broken timing belt pulley the basics tools 14, 12, 10, 8mm wrench 1/2 drive socket19mm,17mm 3/8dr socket17, 14, 12, 10mm 1/4dr socket 12, 10, 8mm have a 7/8 offset box-end wrench for the crank pulley when doing toming belts/timing i had a homemeade axle tool or use 1/2 drive breaker bar with 36mm, or 1 1/8"(i think) flat screwdriver #2 phillips screwdriver pliers combination 12 qnd 14mm offset wrench proves quite versatile
  23. get rid of the automatic. swap in a dual range with 3.9 gear and lo range. it will be faster than an automatic, and lo range can give big tires more streetable gearing
  24. the xt6 4wd rear is the same as the ea82, hub ans axle, splines but it uses a 5 lug ej style rotor to fit on ea82 so how about 4wd air struts, as what mine had. are they bigger than legacy struts. 2wd legacy strut?
  25. i remember matt from out west, he didnt know what to think when i said i been to jail and such:D he claimed to spank me in v-rally while riding the wall and i spun out executing power slides. i said i out ran the cops in a field, he said he gave one for a run in the VOLVO anyway, it was fun i remember you all from the show and you guys seem pretty cool to hang out with austin's video and pictures were impressive, and his girlfriend was down with the subaru scene corky was ok if i had more time to fraternize with him qman was cool, and zap and ed opened their hospitality
