Couple notes: ** Yes, the power windows are operational. ** I "thought" there were 2 motors....one is in the back I know and then one to tip the glass up and down. ** This sunroof is completely different from my 1995 Legacy...that car does have 1 motor and it's up front. ** Fuses are checked and good. Will look at the switch. What relay exactly? Thanks! Todd

Make sure that your pedal box/frame under the dash is not flexing when you push the pedal down. Flex can add an 1" to available cable. Flex is common and they do break if the cracking gets severe.

Found two 78 subaru wagons
SUBARU3 replied to BLT78wagons's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
That's a stock SOA roof rack. Typical front fender rust. Look at the front inner wheel aprons inside the car where they meet the floor of the cowl and the top of the firewall. More pics! -
I have 4 (1995) EJ engines, but my 95 Legacy is the only one that when it's started cold, it "revs" up to like 3000 for just a second, or 2 immediately on startup. It then has normal cold idle and then warms up to a lower normal idle. No other issues...perfect car. I just HATE to have a cold car REV, even for just a second! The colder it is out the higher it revs. Summer is no issue. Ideas? Can this be adjusted? Thanks! Todd

I'm completely confused on starter applications. What starters are interchangeable with...(1995 2.2 automatic Impreza) I know that they need to be specifically for automatic and that Legacies are different. Are they the same for 1.8 Impreza automatic? Are they the same for Impreza from 1993 up to 1999? (or is 1997 and up different)? Are same year 2.2 and 2.5 automatics different? Thanks! Todd

It's kinda sad that Subaru cannot seem to replace the EJ22 reliability! It's like get the best Legacy/lowest mileage up to 1999 and then get the same thing in an EJ22.....do the plug and play swap and then keep it and be buried in it at some point!! LOL So consensus is that 2010-2012 is as close as I can get to a 1995 EJ22?

I already have a 95 Legacy 2.2 and 2 1995 Imprezas. Great cars. BUT ... I am wanted to look at newer cars for technology, style and other reliability issues. Don't get me wrong, I love the 95s - 99s, just starting to want a "change", a fresh new style....etc. So like something from 2005-new. I keep cars a long time, so I just don't want to get into anything other than Subarus BEST!

It clearly right side and it's rhythmic when throttle is applied. (bump. bump, bump, bump...speed related) Increases a lot when turning right, with throttle applied. Fades when in straight line, fades more when turning left and more noticeable when car is cold. Let off the gas...all goes away. I'm wondering if it's in the differential!

I currently have 3 1995 (EJs).....I'm there with you on that they are great. I'm looking "forward" and "newer". So from 1995 all the way to 2010, Suby engines were marginal? So the 2010-2012 engines have finally made it back to the EJs in terms of reliability? And yes....the EA71s and EA 81s just NEVER die! I have some 70s wagons too.

OK....I will open a can of worms here. I'm a dedicated EJ22 and EJ18 person, (outside of the EA71) I love the power, the reliability, the hydro lifters, the non-interference design and the gas mileage. BUT, they are starting to get old and I'm FINALLY looking at newer Subarus. If you wanted a close 2nd in reliability to the 90-96 EJ series engines, what year cars/models would you look at, new or older. Subaru of course. Why do you like that year/model? Thanks!! Todd

1995 Impreza Front wheel drive only. 1.8 5 speed. I recently replaced the right front CV axle. I ended up replacing the entire knuckle, because the original axle shaft would not come out of the knuckle! NO WAY. Multiple machine shops with presses could not even do it!!! Never the less, I just got a replacement knuckle, had professionally pressed in bearings. (Not Chinese bearings) and a rebuilt CV axle. All went together just fine. NOW, I have a new problem/noise! I get this rhythmic light "knocking" from what appears to be the either the wheel area, or the tranny area. It happens mostly when cold. Happens more when firmly turning to the right with gentle acceleration. With no power applied, there is NO noise. When turning to the left, no noise either It's not the outer CV typical clicking. That is ruled out. Could this be IN the tranny? I did get a little rough at times trying to get that original axle out of the knuckle, but I was not that rough I hope! Could this be in the differential? Could something have broken with the process of axle removal? The transmission shifts and drives fin and there are no other noises. Could it be a bad rebuild on this inner CV? I've done lots of axles and this one is the first time I created a NEW issue!! Thoughts anyone?
