DALLAS FORT WORTH, TEXAS Hey guys...cleaning out and I have a pile of stuff headed to the trash....but it's all serviceable stuff. Mostly Gen 1 stage 2 BRAT/Cars. Must take it all and you throw away what you don't want. Pick up in Euless. email me @ subaru3@aol.com https://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/zip/6285581592.html

No...gen 1 dealer install AC has been vacuum actuated on all Gen 1s I have had. It depends on the kit that was installed. Kit's were regional and some differed. (York, vs Sanden for example) The kit's also evolved from late 77 thru 1981 and became better and more upgraded toward the end of the production run.

I had a problem on my Impreza with the cooling fans staying all all the time in the winter cool weather. The thermostat would never open as it was cooled by the fans. Coolant would still overflow, but engine would not overheat. It would over pressurize the radiator and fill the reserve tank. Weird situation.

Has anyone experienced any under dash leaks on these? I have a mystery. 1995 Impreza....drips from the AC evaporator during rain and mostly when the car is facing uphill. Sometimes a lot if the car is position just right! (AC in not running, so it's not AC evap water). Now facing downhill , no leaks. It appears to drip from the very bottom of the evap case. Could it be entering through the cowl/windshield? Everything else seems dry up under the dash. Leaves clogging something? Thanks for your thoughts! Todd

1979 Subaru Brat flooding while driving?
SUBARU3 replied to Wiclipse95's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Is your fuel pump the original, or an exact replacement? Many pumps have too much pressure/flow and will fill the float bowl too high. -
Whew..what a day! Was nice to meet BRATROD and it was fun to pick through a nice "lot" of parts that otherwise might have ended up...well who knows. We now have to inventory with part #s. Loyale. EA 82 stuff went to BRATROD. (Which was about 70 percent of the lot). He has some really nice things!! I have mostly the Gen 1 and earlier stuff. Some pre GEN1 lenses and some other various bits and pieces too. I'm gonna let this day digest and I will get back to you.

I'm thinking I may pass on this lot. I am going to try to get a handful of things, but leave just about all of it. I would venture to say that a lot of it is Loyale, some 80s GL/BRAT stuff and a few Legacy/Impreza stuff. Anyone local Dallas/Ft Worth interested. I will put you in touch with the person. www.todd-peters.com/Forsale email me subaru3@aol.com

OK...I had the opportunity to view this lot today. It is a mix of early 70s, Gen 1, Gen 2 and even newer. It's mostly contained in multiple large bins, but also many boxes. It's not a tractor trailer load, but about 3/4s of this car trailer. Here are some photos. There are multiples of many of these things. Things I remember: Key blanks Cylinder heads Gen 1 and 2 BRAT tailight lenses 79 GF taillens turn signal switches electronics clocks grills water pumps. Lot's of Loyale stuff too. No sheetmetal, No seats, no BIG items like door panels, or glass. Look at the pics and give me your thoughts. Should I negotiate and get it? What do you think this lot is worth? There are a lot of "smalls" Link to pics: http://www.todd-peters.com/Forsale

Well, I was contacted by a retired person that has 1/2 tractor trailer load of NOS SUBARU OEM parts for 70s and 80s cars and BRATS. All tagged with part #s. He gave me some random part #s and some were rear CV axles for 79 BRAT, late 70s door panels, Wheel bearing rear 1980s, right front steering knuckle early 80s. Dome lights, seat cushions, rebuild kits and alternators. So that is some idea of what may be in this truck. No sheet metal and no complete engines, but about everything else he says. It will be in Dallas in AUG. I will be getting photos and seeing want the options are. The gentleman seemed like he might be easy to work with!

1979 Subaru DL Revving really high!
SUBARU3 replied to doughildreth's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Make sure you have good play in the accelerator cable at the carburetor. If it's even the slightest bit taunt...our idle will be high. Loosen the set screw and pull the cable out some.- 8 replies

No brown plaid seat covers left. Use a voltage meter and check the power at the fuel pump. Do it quick when you have it running. The alternator needs to be putting out power. If you have power and your fuel pump in new, it's safe to assume that is not the problem. Also...remember that the fuel pump is not a motor that runs all the time...it is a pulse pump and it will "click" vs purr/or run like an electric motor. If no power, try "temporarily" running a power line from the + battery terminal to the lead on the fuel pump. Also, that pump "grounds" via the mounts and nuts. Check the ground. You can try to put a big syringe on the fuel line from the tank at the fuel pump...... with some fuel in it and do a "push/pull" with the syringe. That can sometimes clear a restriction. There is no additional filter at the tank.
