  1. On the communication subject, I guess cellular telephones are also an option. There should be coverage in the major towns, certainly Klamath Falls. We can "fine tune" our meeting that way, too (TSJ, is you're number still the same?).
  2. Oh yeah. Brian..is your EA81 going to be ready, or will you be travelling in the Leg?
  3. Andrew, we're going to miss I-5 completely. I believe we'd be entering town from the south, on what appears to be OR SR35.
  4. Yeah Brian, I have no prob with camping at the show, but a good bed and shower along the way sure was/is nice (like we did for WCSS3). JB and Jeremy, are you getting much smoke from the Carson City fire? It's million dollar homes you're smelling:( .
  5. Is there a Hilton or Sheraton-type hotel there? I can meet you in the lobby, then we can go to breakfast:burnout: .
  6. The more I think about that, the better it sounds..sort of the same way we did for WCSS 3. That way we'd be rolling into the show around noon or so, and give us a chance to scope out the joint for a good campsite and get settled.
  7. Brian 395 doesn't go to Klamath, but I think I know what you mean..sounds like a good meeting place, then continue to Bend. Anyone know Klamath Falls well enough to recommend a meeting place in town?
  8. WD-40 works great for me. My 2 bucks
  9. Just off the top of my head, I'd say B&E. The earlier the better.
  10. We used to ride our bicycles up there (pre driver's license), great views along the way. Did you go all the way up to the top where the observatory is? Sounds like a huge meet:) .
  11. Many thanks for all your hard work in making this a reality..WOOT!
  12. Yeah Brian, great job on the maps..a meet-up in Klamath looks good. I guess we'll be hitting Bend also (discussed earlier), LOL. Now I guess the only thing left to coordinate is the time to meet/travel. I'm looking at being gone from home Thursday thru Monday (so as not to be in a big hurry while travelling in a 22 year old car:-\ ) My 2 bucks
  13. I drive many rental cars in my travels, which include '04 and '05 Subarus, all 2.5 automatic. They're all holding up well to the abuse (you wouldn't believe how fast the GM stuff disintegrates). The '05 is laid out a little different then the '04, and is a little roomier. The '05 has a little better acceleration than the '04. The "zippiest" is the Forester.
  14. I noticed that in the '05 Outbacks...blows cold for a bit, then "not-so-cold", then cold again.
  15. I know of a guy in Santa Rosa, way out on the west side, just off Fulton Road: Nice guy, he'll talk your ear off.. Pagnano's Auto 707-544-3020 Also, there's a shop in San Rafael that's got a good rep: http://www.askimsauto.com/Home.htm
  16. Andrew, I don't recall taking 395 the whole (or most of) the way. When I looked at the route on a regional map, there was a relatively straight shot going this way: http://mappoint.msn.com/(iagf1h45w0fhlhmssrd4ji45)/directions.aspx?&StartName=89450&StartLocation=39.25165%2c-119.92560&EndName=Hood+River+Co.+%5bHood+River%5d+(county)%2c+Oregon%2c+United+States&EndLocation=45.51901%2c-121.65119&DataSetLangID=USA,409&RouteType=Quickest&RouteUnit=Miles Can't remember if it included Bend, but this looks like a good high-elevation route for those of us without A/C. I think coordinationg actual meeting and travel days/times will be a more complicated issue.
  17. I looked at a couple of possible routes and IIRC, Bend was along the way:) .
  18. Yeah JB, we'll coordinate something...going over to the 5 puts us more than 100 miles out of our way.
  19. I've been hanging fresheners from the dome light...it's out of the way there, no contact with "un-authorized" surfaces. Just my 2 bucks
  20. I guess I'm lucky. I've taken that car from sea level to over 9000' passes, no pinging or problems..the only difference I see that's elevation related is that my mileage is significantly better at the higher elevations (6000-plus) than at sea level.
  21. Y'know Mick, I seem to remember way back when my '83 California-spec EA81 was new (I know the original owner), I was told that her car "likes premium gas". Shortly after I got it in 1990, we adjusted the timing so there was no pinging on 87 gas. 200 thousand miles later (285 on her now), there have been absolutely no engine related problems. As a matter of fact, one of the guys at the local Soob shop commented on the "nice power" it has. Go figure. My 2 bucks
  22. (Insert ski resort name here) and (insert mfg.) snow tires..Presently: Diamond Peak and Firestone.
  23. Rallyruss- You're in Santa Clara County, right? Isn't a visual inspection part of the test? What I mean is, no matter how good the sniffer test comes out, all the correct equipment has to be present and installed (right down to the heater pipe to the air cleaner and correct gas cap)..unless you have a connection, heh heh.
  24. Yeah, what Tim said. I used that process to get an RX2 in the same situation a few years ago in California. Check with you local DMV first, they might have a printed list of forms and instructions.
