  1. gettin the tranny completely rebuilt in my 93 turbo legacy.. to the tune of $1300.. get it back wednesday.. we'll see..
  2. i'm ruckersville, va if you can get here before noon i have 2 front calipers that came off an 85 ea82 wagon.. same caliper.. all ea82 calipers were.. breeze_863d@yahoo.com
  3. 86 turbo wagon (ea82t) 20w50 with a half quart of marvel mystery oil at every change.. at 300k everything was in spec.. even the crosshatchings in the cylinders.. don't need amsoil waste of money lol... same car had amsoil in the trans... every gear whined so loud the stereo couldn't drown it out.. so i changed the tranny.. bad bad amsoil..
  4. coolant temperature sensor.. it tells teh ecm what temp the engine is.. if its reading 20 degrees when the engine is 185 or so, its gonna flood out.. think i got one thats flaky on my spfi wagon..
  5. Jay, we might be talking about that trans, and conversion stuff.... depends on if i end up with the car or not
  6. its an 87 or so turbo gl wagon.. its automatic, but it doesn't have a pushbutton for the 4wd.. its a true awd trans... came that way factory.. too bad the tranns is shot..
  7. its an 85' gl wagon carbed 2wd 5-speed.. body is almost mint except the rear cargo panels.. otherwise very nice inside an out.. but the guy told me it has a blown HG.. i said ok, took the car.. for $50 who wouldn't? its got parts for my 2wd dl.. anyways i put a battery in it pumped it 4 or 5 times (carbed) and it fired right up.. smooth as a bell. idles smoother than my 88 spfi wagon.. but its deffinitely blowing antifreeze out the exhaust.. clouds of it.. but i don't think its an hg.. cause it runs too damned smooth... no miss no loss in power (will roast the tires off it in 1st) no other symptoms at all... so i'm wondering if it just sucked an intake / carb base gasket... any ideas?
  8. found a 4-speed dual range trans from an 82' wagon.. so it came out and went into the brat just for the gear ratios.. works nice now if i could just get a damned carb..
  9. nope... you got rubber lines that exit the tank on the passenger side, they enter metal line which goes to the drivers side, then back into rubber and into the fuel pump.. (round and mounted on the frame) then back into metal as they go through the cab, then back to rubber when they hit the engine bay.. wish my brat was this easy of a fix, instead i had to dump $365 on a new weber kit.. bleh.. good luck with your brat..
  10. well just ordered a brand new weber kit for my brat, since this damned hitachi doesn't seem to want to run at all.. now i get the fun part of de-emissioning it. muauhaha i already have teh 2 1/4" exhaust from teh heads back on it
  11. on a brat the fuel pump and primary filter is on the drivers side..
  12. they made the ea81 hatxhes until beginning of 89' i had an 89' ea81 hatch once.. to get parts at the parts store i had to tell them it was an 84..
  13. i've had so many accels its not funny.. the 8140's.. only had 2 of them go bad.. like in a week of use.. thats when i switched to MSD blaster coils.. never had any issues with them at all.. never burned an ignition module either.. best of all i get msd coils for like $28
  14. my old rx wagon would run 120 no prob.. it was far from stock though.. now my brat will run about 100.. with the factory carb before it went bad.. and the 88' dl 2wd like 90 downhill is tops.. it doesn't need to be fast since the wife drives it anyways..
  15. its normal for these cars to idle at like 2k or so, for a few minutes then drop down when they're cold.. i have an egr code but my egr vacuum switch is broken soo... and i can't find one..
  16. 297k - 86' gl-10 2wd 5-speed turbo.. original engine, and turbo.. purred like a kitten when she was junked due to rust.. i miss that car.. the brats got 199k right now and its original
  17. I fixed that problem in my 88' DL spfi wagon.. take the idle air control valve off and clean it real real good.. when i did this to mine i also swapped out the motor with a brand new one.. soooo.. but its got all the old sensors, intake and such from the original. i also changed all the pcv lines cause i found 1 that was nearly plugged up.. it idles fast when cold, then knocks itself down.. doesn't bog at all anytime regardless.. and it gets 31 mpg
  18. all i'm gonna say is, penzoil is he worst oil for a 2.5 engine.. non detergent mean anything?
  19. just a couple.. say i found a na 3.9 ratio 5-speed for my turbo legacy.. will the na clutch hold up0 to the turbo engine? or can i use a turbo clutch and pressure plate with the na trans and flywheel? i was thinkin the splines might be different.. but i am used to working on the old ea series cars.. this is my first ej car besides the outback.. also are my turbo cv's gonne go on the na 5-speeds output shafts or are the spline counts different there too?
  20. its been sitting in the driveway for the last 3 months.. tried sellin it, etc.. no luck.. so i tore teh radiator out and got the broken off oil pump housing out and got a brand new pump for it since i couldn't find any local to me.. got it all back together today and she's good as new.. oil pressure runs at 50psi at anything over 1500 rpms.. then i changed the trany fluid.. got the 15" pug alloys rebalanced and on it.. put some tokico rear shocks on it.. and of course gave her a bath.. gonna be commuting 50 miles a day in it since the legacy tranny just went out.. next week its gonna get some rust repair done (what little there is) and maybe some new axles to get rid of the vibration..
  21. well when i changed it i drained 4 qts out and put 4 back in.. then i shoved a bottle of lucas in it on top of that after it started acting up.. didn't fix it..
  22. Bump, can anyone else chime in on this? reverse just went out in my legacy.. and i really needa know for sure if the 95' impreza trans will work in the 93' legacy.. i thought the final drive in the 95' imp was 3.9 ?
  23. well i changed the trans fluid and oil this morning.. drove around town for about 45 min lookin for an oil pump for the brat.. everything was fine till my last stop then it no longer had reverse.. it went out in a matter of a mile of driving from the place i had just backed out of... all the other gears even 1st all work fine, just like they did.. i know its going into reverse cause i can feel it and see the tach drop, but you give it gas and it slipps so bad its just barely moves.. any ideas?
  24. shoot me an email address and i'll email you a pic of the custom rack on my 88 dl
  25. well the DL got a new motor, clutch, brakes, and suspension all the way around.. i thought by replacing the worn out struts it would level the rear out.. well now its sits like 2" higher in the front and the back is still sittin on the bump stops practically.. so this tells me the rear coils are shot.. (2wd wagon too btw) now to the question.. how much longer are the 4wd rear coils vs the 2wd's? and will they fit on my 2wd wagon if i just swap out the hole assembly?
