Andrew as always, mister know-it-all:lol: j/k but seriously, my friend had keys made for his 82 corolla the exact same way, at the same place for 20 bucks.

just need some reassurance here.

is it going to be $2300 on top of the $2000 for the car, making a $4300 grand total? -

not to be rude or anything, but yes, it would be alot more than the car is worth. in exellent shape, it might bring $1600-$2200 on ebay, actually, is it 4wd? i say get the basics fixed and drive it, but it will be tough to pull that much back out of it. just my 2 cents -
your best bet is to pop the ignition switch out and bring it to a locksmith. i did this with my 360 and had 2 keys made for $20, its hard to believe it is cost effective for the locksmiths to do it that cheap.

Might have a place for brat roll bars.

*edit* $3k for a brat; when is it worth it?
75subie replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it is worth it when there is no rust, few dings and scratches of a 20+ year old car. all original and running good. interior halfway decent, and under 80k miles. that is just my opinion, probly would never really pay over 2k for a brat. they do seem to bring it though:eek: -
free 82 GL come and get it!

here is another one that sounds free: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=54870 ea81t's are definatly hard to come by, and usually have head problems, either blown head gaskets, cracks in between the valves, electrical problems, etc, etc, they are not impossible to find, there is a junkyard site with a few listed. dual carbs or a weber would be another option, i bet you could get even more horses out of a souped up ea81 than an ea81t, but that is just my opinion. -
Where else to look for Subies for sale?
75subie replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
oh and monkeyads.com -
oh, it is not at all naturally aspirated:lol: i don`t know the measurements, but he had his cam ground by delta cams, bored ea82 intake with a 38 weber, ported and polished heads (i think the heads were decked too), high flow exhaust, msd ignition, hot plugs and wires, and a few other mods i am forgeting.

collectorcartader, paper shop in PA, Carbuyersmarket, Nasioc, google search "subaru +sale" (or something to that effect, yea, you`ll have to be really board to search through all the pages, but i have found a few good deals this way) any specific model you are looking for? i always see a few here and there. are you willing to pay like $500 shipping for a rust free car, or would you prefer a local pickup? -
sold that one to mr. fishums and it is getting hopped up real nice, in the end, the ea81 motor he is building is supposed to be putting out around 120hp (+/-) and that is without a turbo or supercharger. that car was a beauty, not a spec of rust on it:D came from Oregon, gotta love the west coast.

75subie replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you could make your own:brow: get some turbo decals, turbo mirrors, and gold emblems, and a complete ea81t and drop it into this here sedan, then link that up to a 5 speed manual with 15 inch pugs holding it on the ground, that would be super sweet. -
fabreeze wouldn`t even touch the smell that was in my brat:lol:
-
is your 87 hatch, an ea81 or ea82? either way it is going to be a pain:-\ you will need alot more than the turbo charger.
-
you`ll see some big numbers on this thread. i think there is one guy around here with 500k on his (not the original motor tho)

Why NOT to use a forklift to lift a car!
75subie replied to RallyKeith's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
that does seem a bit high for such a wreck, the pass rocker looks like rust has got it pretty bad too. -
alot of the ea81 cars i`ve had and seen have had an aluminum trim along the bottom that is painted to look like a 2 tone. it was from the factory and covered from the rubber molding down.
-
c'mon, how could you guys not like maroon!? sorry i had to do it:

75subie replied to SyntheticBlinkerFluid's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
that looks like a well wheeled soob for fwd:lol: the pugs would fit fine, and if they don`t, just get out the sledge and some metal snips;) -
if you think thats bad, you have to see the inside of my 86:lol: i hate mice, as soon as i turned the blower on, mouse droppings blew into my face:mad:

75subie replied to subiemech85's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
