  1. Yeah, the arm pulls off the end of the bar. It's possible to do it while still in the car as well. I did just reclock the outer side, not both like you are talking about. It rode pretty well, could have been better though but it was very livable. But I never had any trouble with it, and I drove the car as hard an one can an ea81 4 speed with cheapo tires.
  2. on my 87 hatch I lowered a few years ago I used a generous amount of pb blaster and a rubber mallet, might have to hold the bar with a vice and hit on it till it gives up
  3. wow, that looks like a solid foundation for cheap, congrats can't wait to see what you do with it.
  4. If I'm not mistaken its located on/beside the abs unit under the hood.
  5. just so you know, the thought that subaru copied volkswagen is completely false. the horizontally opposed design subaru drew inspiration from was the old Goliath http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/115952-something-unusual-1958-goliath/
  6. the hub is definitely needed as well, basically anything that is bolted to the trailing arm needs to be swapped over.
  7. the ecu doesn't care, but you'll need to get the rear diff and driveshaft out of the manual car as well. That car will most likely have a 3.90 final drive, your auto outback will be 4.44
  8. I've been seeing updates to this build on their Facebook page. Very neat little car.
  9. the difference may be because you're 2.5 car in this case is a forester, I can't think of any reason they would be different otherwise.
  10. It's common practice in the automotive world, the last subaru with an actual oil pan gasket would have been an ea82
  11. because someone will buy one if a parts store sells them
  12. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/137829-using-a-non-egr-engine-in-subaru-with-egr-exhaust-gas-recirculation-valve/?do=findComment&comment=1160910 this is what you are looking for sir
  13. I've noticed almost all the ebay gasket sets have a pan gasket too, I've never used one though.
  14. These engines didn't use an oil pan gasket. They were glued on from the factory.
  15. did the ecu I sent end up being what you needed?
  16. is this the first gen1 brat with aribags? lol
  17. Hey Bennie, sorry I haven't been able to get you any info on those heads. Its been a hectic couple of days. I haven't forgotten about you, just delayed a little bit.
  18. Where its an open deck engine the gasket differences there won't matter. They will match up to where they should be on the heads.
  19. it can be done, I've read about it in some of the ej22t stroker builds either the block or the crank has to be machined your choice basically
  20. a 99 forester should be an ej25 engine unless it had been swapped before. it will be a pretty straightforward swap onto any 99-04 forester, impreza the except wrx) , 99 legacy (non gt or outback) or 00-04 legacy (non h6) there may be some slight variations in those ranges such as egr systems, but it will work
  21. start asking away at those burning questions, and welcome to the forum
  22. I've seen quite a few of the fender mirror sets on ebay.
  23. What did you use to clean that engine. Turned out really nice. Goood luck with the adventure.
  24. Oh yeah, as long as it was a running engine to begin with there is no real reason it won't continue to serve you well. I was just confused for a moment, thought it was the motor out of your 99, because its definately phase 1.
  25. Is that the engine that came out of the car or is it the donor??
