  1. I am I am, I delivered you your food. Hello :)

  2. Im down to two vehicles (not counting my wife's 95 altima) 1984 GL 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200
  3. Lots of good info here. Especially the parts about you break stuff if you get too excited in RWD. I researched this extensively a couple of years ago, and drove around in my '84 wagon for a few days in RWD while waiting for my new axles. Somehow (for once in my life) I resisted the urge to do doughnuts. As far a getting the axle cups off I tried a few recommendations here on the board to no avail. I eventually ended up getting a thin cut-off wheel for my drill motor and sliced out some sections of the bearing cage (the part that holds the bearing in place). Wasn't too hard and worked great. Now I always keep them in my car along with the few tools needed to replace an axle just in case I have a catastrophic axle failure. I have dreams about my subaru being RWD with dual range 4WD. I <3 RWD
  4. I'll keep an eye out. I'm in that area a lot (school and work). sorry and good luck.
  5. yup, thats what i have for winter. some 14'' steel peugeot ('pug') wheels.
  6. easy there budeh - considering that your stated reason for hating this blacked out look sooo much is because it is unsafe (which i totally agree with) one would think that a thread about how to make this look safe by putting in brighter lights wouldn't piss you off so much. If he wants to acquire this blacked out look for his car while retaining safe lights, more power too him, and you of all people I would think would want to encourage that, not spew hate everywhere. (also the car pictured is not op's car or friends car, just an example of dark tail light lenses) not trying to start a war here, I just don't like seeing people looking for help in doing something the right way getting crapped on.
  7. What brumby420 said is all correct. I ran my 84 wagon for a couple weeks in RWD with no problems. I did however take it easy. You do need to put axle stubs in the front hubs though, thats what holds things together up there. I feel ya though. I really wish my subie was RWD with part time 4WD. i <3 RWD
  8. YES!! And i do agree that getting house approval is a long shot. but at least they are trying. I will be so happy if this goes through.
  9. All right, Today Mykeys you have won. .
  10. ooff. ya, thats sounds like a pretty risky buy. i completely agree with 'heartless' also subaru's have become so popular lately i would think you could find a surer buy.
  11. I think he is looking on info for plug wires, not the plugs themselves. Personally i do not know the answer to your question, I had to put resistor wires/caps on my 81 Kawasaki gpz. but for cars hopefully someone else will chime in here.
  12. +1 on the rear filter. well, both filters. although i think the one in the engine compartment is more of a separator than a filter. but they are cheap. I would do both filters and a full tune-up before dropping the money on a webber. (however if everything else is a-ok a webber is money well spent)
  13. the ea81's are great bullet proof cars, but 900 might be a lil steep. I bought a rusted through 86 hatch for 400. and my current 84 wagon for 500 (this was a great deal for it's condition). Do you have anymore info on the car? year, miles, can you check for rust in other areas? also what are you planning on using it for?
  14. cool, learned somin new today. all my experience has been with the ea81's. that is sweet to have a locking diff. glad you figured it out Cheers! --Chris
  15. Does this car actually have full time 4WD? or selectable 4WD?
  16. I too think that would be awesome!!! Also its great to see you guys (DirtFish) out here in the NW. Now someday when i get the money I wont have to travel to the eastcoast for some rally school action. --Chris

This should be posted in the "General Subaru Tech Forum" under "Older Generations of Subaru" You'll prob have more luck getting help in there.
  18. Does the fan work at all? if you turn it all the way up does it still not come on? I've read other posts on here about how the resistor coils can go bad (basically disintegrate). But i think you usually still get full power with the fan when thats the problem. hopefully someone with more experience will chime in here. also nice car!! I have the the same one 84 GL wagon, blue.
  19. Thats called the Rotor. Check out this website, it describes the basics of a distributer along with a simple animated iamge: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ignition-system4.htm Anyways, it sounds like you could have a problem there, check if you have spark at the ends of you plug wires. I'm guessing not. Then take a look at the points in your distributer cap to see if they look worn, inspect the rotor as well. If it looks suspect at all i would just replace them both, its super easy and cheap. $15 bucks will get it on rockauto.com, i've not heard weather or not OEM is superior in this case (such as the case with things like the clutch cable and thermostat) maybe someone will chime in with knowledge on that. Otherwise stick to a good company like Bosh. This would also be a good time to replace your spark plugs and wires if they are aging (just do one of these at a time if you are looking to find which one was the original cluprit). i am not an expert at all on this, just personal experience. good luck.
  20. man, that thing is clean! nice work! are those allied armament wheels? also i've never seen a white wagon look soo good
  21. Boo! that sux. But we need more info to try and help out Brain! year, color, hard top/soft top. . .
  22. supposedly they are going to start inventorying what cars they currently have, which will be accessible through their web site. that will be handy for those of us that live far away. new prices will suck, although when i was there a couple weeks ago they hadn't changed yet.
