  1. Wow, I wish we had 4 inches in Bellingham! Just 1.5 here...
  2. It looks like it belongs on an EA81. I can't think of ever seeing a factory brushguard for any EA82.
  3. I haven't gotten wild in either of my hatches, but my turbo wagon get tail happy with a little provication on wet roads. Its awesome!!! Lift throttle, turn in and she'll slide all day!
  4. Sounds like there is a small crack in the head that, when it gets hot, closes up and leaks less.
  5. If you help organize it, I guess it can be where ever you want.
  6. Be careful about decking the heads, if you do it too much the intake ports will be too close together for the intake manifold to bolt on. Just a thought.
  7. EA71 1600 or EA82 SPFI pistons will raise your compression to about 9.0:1. Do some mild porting on the intake, exhaust ports and intake manifold to clean up the terrible casting flash. Other than that, a weber and exhaust work will help out a lot.
  8. I could probably be persuaded to help. Just let me know when things start up, when and where to be!
  9. I think it would be really cool! What do you think shipping was on all those parts? And would the new steering shaft interfere with the turbo set up at all? Pics?
  10. Yes, we ARE!!! Winter break is coming up fast and I need a project!
  11. It was pretty easy on the gen 2 car since they had them earlier. I just unbolted the bottom of the core support and cut out the top half. Drilled some holes for the top of the center lamp to bolt to and thats about it. I also had to cut the grill because the quad headlight set up came around after the cyclops had been killed. A friend of mine and I tryed putting one on his gen 1 brat and found that unless you're prepaired for some serious fabrication, it will not be an easy conversion.
  12. He knows the secret! Its like Qman says, one for the street, one for the woods!
  13. Sweet!!! How much did all the gear cost you and what did it take to make it work?
  14. I finally got all the new bearings greased up along with the seals for the front wheel bearings. They are pressed into the knuckle, but now I can't get the knuckle back on the axle. I don't have the special tool that the FSM suggests using. I need this car to drive back to school tonight, so if anyone has a trick or suggestion, please lay it on me!
  15. Thanks a lot for the advice guys! Thats why I love this board so much! I ended up using a BFH and a block of wood to beat on the end of the axle. Worked like a charm!
  16. I'm trying to get the hubs off my wagon, and I have everything off except the disc and hub. They are still on the axle. The cone washer is stillin there and I can't seem to get it off. I don't want to pry on it too hard since I don't have too many sitting around. I need this car to be done tomorrow night so any help you can give would be great.
  17. Spockproof huh? Watch too many episodes of Star Trek lately? Thanks for the info though, no wonder they didn't have any fluid at the dealer!
  18. That thing sure looks burly!!! My Kumhos have got to go now, I need me some SWAMPERS!!!!!
  19. Are you sure? The way I understand a viscous differential works is by shearing those long silicone molicules in half to get the desired limited slip characteristic. This would mean that the fluid would eventually break down and the diff would not work a well. Anyone have a FSM who is willing to clear this up?
  20. I want to stick this LSD in my wagon, but I want to change this mystery fluid out for some new stuff. The dealer doesn't sell fluid for the legacy's viscous diff and the parts store just has GM, Chrysler, Ford stuff. What do you guys suggest I do?
  21. I LOVE MY SCHOOL, I LOVE MY SCHOOL!!!! I also have a blurry picture of a set of EA81 heads that were modified to diesel. When talking to the current prof of the VRi (the program I'm in) he said that the EA81 diesel ran like crap.
  22. Never, ever heard of that. Would it be possible to go back and snag those?
  23. I would be all over these if they were 8 spoke, but I have the enkeis already, so I'll stick with those.
