  1. Already had that problem. Kingbobdole, the readings you are reporting sounds appropriate for your car. My wagon will get very high oil pressure when its cold, but I try to not rev it up when it is cold. The oil temp will be around 225 cruising on the freeway. I still need to hook in my water temp gauge though
  2. Check your ignition system. Plugs, leads and distrubutor to see if they need to be replaced or repaired.
  3. SubaruBrat is putting a built EJ257 in his lambo kit car.
  4. I second that. Thank you Eric and Ken (and anyone else involved in planning WCSSs) for everything you do for this community. Without leaders like you guys I don't think this board would still be around.
  5. That would be AWESOME!!! It would be sweet to keep the standard trophies for first place and have plaques for 2nd and maybe even 3rd place winners.
  6. THANK YOU!!! I'd love to get a couple spares for my dash. Let me see if I can't find any burned up ones for you.
  7. The downside to an oil cooler is that in colder climates you have the potential to over cool the oil. Just something to keep in mind. That being said, I have a larger one ready to replace the factory cooler on my wagon.
  8. They don't have trailing arms for one thing and their wheel wells are much deeper than ours so they can stuff the tires for more compression travel.
  9. Check out the vendor sales section and look at the pics they show of prefabbed peices. Those pics would be a good base for insperation.
  10. To tell you the truth, oil temps are what we should be worrying about, like Caboobaroo says, as it actually does more of the cooling for the engine than the coolant does on its own. Now, I have noticed that extended freeway driving will bring my oil temp up to about 225*F, which is HOT!!! (Don't know what an EA82T runs) Almost to the end of the gradents on the autometer gauge I'm using. My car does have the factory oil cooler, but its pretty small. I have a big fat one sitting in my basement, but the high temps make me wonder if my oil thermostat in the cooler sandwhich isnt opening all the way or opening at all. At some point I would like to have the oil and coolant passages extrude honed (Polishing will decrease surface area, thus cooling potential) when I can track down a decent spare engine.
  11. Paul, if only I had that kind of space I KNOW my backyard would look like that!
  12. Sounds feasable, don't see why it wouldn't work. Also consider using Redline Water Wetter or a similar product to keep hot spots down in the head.
  13. I've got to get my lifted hatch running before I can even take it out on a trip. Wish me luck!
  14. They should be identical except for the FI bosses in the head and the oil return fitting on the passenger's side head.
  15. Ok, so look for oil leaks. What about rust? Do these cars have any problem areas on the body? How does the electrical system stand the test of time? This car is FI with a 5 speed, so its all good in that respect. What else should I look at, or is that just about everything?
  16. Anyone have any idea about the coolant passages on the EA81/EA81T heads and if they have the same design?
  17. Cleaning it seems to be a temporary solution. I'd start looking for an EA82 4EAT and convert to that or start talking to Jerry about the 5 speed conversion kit.
  18. The very same kind of rare, maybe more so because most of the used ones are bad already. When I got my wagon it had almost the same problem, but mine wouldn't shift into 3rd, so the fastest I could go was 45. I just dropped in a D/R 5 speed and called it good.
  19. I'm going to be looking at a '91 Justy GL 4WD for a friend tomorrow and I was wondering if any owners or fans could give me any ideas on what justy specific stuff I should check on the car to decide if its worth buying? I already plan on checking the basics, but are there any parts on Justys that tend to go out?
  20. Yup, sounds like your tranny governor is on its way out. Try cleaning it up and reinstalling it. If that doesn't fix your problem, then its time to look for a new one.
  21. The hatch isn't a prototype, it was actually an aftermarket car built by Motor Trend magazine. It currently resides at WWU and has a fresh block but a VERY leaky turbo. There may have been a seperate hatch built for the movie but I am only going on pictures I have and from what I can tell from looking at the car.
  22. Thank you Sako, you spelled it out perfectly. Look at the lap times on Top Gear and tell me the top 30 cars, I bet there isn't a single FWD car in that group.
  23. 23 hours left and counting! Is anyone on the forum bidding on this!?!?
  24. Subaru and Nissan don't share a parent company and never did. Nissan used to own a majority share in Fuji H.I. just like GM did until recently. But to answer your question, early Z cars and early 510s used R160 rear differentials. I know there are more, but these are the only ones I know of for sure. Our differentials are an upgrade to the original Nissan ones because ours have LSDs.
