  1. I plan on dynoing my car and yes I am poor, but there are ways around that. Dyno days are a great opportunity to get on the dyno cheaply. Also, if anyone in the Seattle area needs an all wheel dyno, my friend works at a shop that just opened up Kito Auto Sport in Freemont. http://www.kitoautosport.com/
  2. I wish I could have pulled the turbo, but all I had was a ratchet with 5 sockets and an adjustable wrench. :-\
  3. I'll put my hat in for the EA81 crowd. I don't think my car is as fast as Ken's at the moment, but the new header and turbo are going on soon and that will make up the difference.
  4. Just came across this post and thought I'd finish it up by saying that I eventually had to replace the molded hose and find heat wrap to replace the coolant hose that runs directly below the turbo. I never want to change that hose again!
  5. I have heard about a single turbo sedan existing somewhere in Seattle. There may have been a way to order the car from the factory like the original Z28 option, but they were never officially offered for sale.
  6. Just get the heads and intake manifold extrude honed. That will help the breathing a lot, turbo or not.
  7. I sold a set of white ones to Nuclear Bacon a while ago. If interested ask him since I know he was trying to sell them.
  8. What would you say the difficult parts of the swap are? I know the engine mounts are close and the wiring is a pain, but what problems did you run into?
  9. Do you think at some point you could do a write up on your car? I really like the professional approach you take to all the modification and fabrication. I also want to do this swap on one of my EA81s, so a complete guide to the swap would be awesome.
  10. I don't know where it went, but there used to be a sticky thread somewhere that had answers to just about any off road question you might have. Unfortunatly only three companies in the U.S. make lifts for subarus. If your shop could order a kit from the manufacturer then Im sure that you could get it for a reasonalbe price. Also look at the group buy post in the vendor forum.
  11. There is aftermarket support, you just need to know where to look. We all know we can get Delta cams, but does anyone know where to her high rpm valve trains (Ti pushrods, dual valve springs, oversize valves)? I do. Plus it helps that being in the program that I'm in at WWU gives me access to any type of machining that I could want. There will be little or at least the bare minimum of expenses for most of the mods that I'm going to do to this car.
  12. If you have a SS plange I'll take it, but if its just mild steel I'll pass. I think I'm gonna run the stock turbo for a while or maybe bolt up a VF7 while I rebuild/clean the VF11.
  13. Working towards it Qman, but somebody needs to actually do something with this engine instead of just dumping them like I've seen happening a lot recently. I'll see how much potential these turbo cars have.
  14. Well, unfortunatly I was the guinea pig this time. Just so everyone knows in the future a VF-11 and a VF-2/7 do NOT share the same up pipe flange. The VF11 matches two of the mounting holes but the furthest towards the rear is about 0.25" further than on the stock turbos, much like the TD04. Just thought I'd let everyone know since it had been mentioned that they were identical.
  15. I'd gladly take the FT gear box off your hands if you do decide to get the car and swap trannies.
  16. I'm planning on installing my stainless steel header this weekend, but first I need to buy SS hardware. I've already looked up the head studs' pitch (1.25x10) but how long are they? Also, what are the dimensions for the turbo studs? Are they the same pitch or different? I'd like to be able to walk into the store and tell them what I need. Thanks in advance!
  17. I looked into those heads as well as the Ram Performance heads a while ago and teh SUB4 heads cost ~$2000 with four ports while the 3 port Ram heads were ~$1500. Maybe some day when I have the money...
  18. Looked around Simmons' web site but couldn't find a set of the P86. Post a pic please, these sound like what I'm looking for!!!
  19. The driver's side dash speaker is 3x5" but if you work at it you can squeeze a 4x6" in there. Also, the 5.25" door speakers are very thin, so if you plan on upgrading then think about how much thicker the aftermarket ones are and how to make them fit.
  20. Sweet, I love it when project cars start coming together. There is nothing like it! Your wagon looks great by the way.
  21. Welcome to the board! We have a very convienient search function where you can find find both the answers you're looking for. They have both been answered fairly recently.
  22. I might try to make it if my lifted rig is fixed by then.
