I put them in and although not a perfect fit ( the protective silicone floating tubes are a little too long on the wires and bunch up in the raceway, suppose I could trim them ), I am other wise happy with them so far. I went around the hood for a test drive in first gear. The car felt very solid revving . Interestingly here are the stock Ω values as pulled from the car. 1 8.11 KΩ 2 13.84 KΩ 3 8.7 KΩ 4 12.58 KΩ
  3. Not sure if this is a good thing or not but my new -06 doesn't use a drop at 75KM, 6000 KM changes. I am considering going to a 5000 KM Oil interval as the mobil seems pretty beat up at 6K. There is too much noticeable improvement for me not to diagnose the 6KKM oil as overdue.
  4. I got out the fluke and here is what I found. Karolyn/STI Values #1 cord: 1.553 kΩ #2 cord: 2.520 kΩ #3 cord: 1.667 kΩ #4 cord: 2.668 kΩ Factory Resistance values Per Subaru Manual. #1 cord: 7.1 — 12.1 kΩ #2 cord: 12.1 — 19.9 kΩ #3 cord: 7.7 — 13.0 kΩ #4 cord: 12.3 — 20.2 kΩ These wires are possibly inappropriate with approximately 1/4-1/5 th of the factory resistance. But possibly this could be good if the better wires will fit . Now I want to measure the stock wires to be sure of what they really read.

  6. I know that a great many people understand the automatic 4 wheel system. Traditional 4 or 5 speed automatic transmission which is connected to the front wheels. The rear wheels get all this by way of a 5-7 disk viscous variable friction device. Analogue to the front wheel output are the rear wheels but with a variable friction coefficient . But how does the viscous system work in the standard? Is this reverse viscosity like in the audi? But then again How does it work?

  8. I really want to do a serious but non lowering suspension myself, how are the KYBs ? but I digress. Got new yokahama advan envigour and I pumped them up to 35.5 PSI front 32 back any how I had problems about the same time you did, the car was bobbing around like crazy on the highway. The wind was gusting at about 40 kmh. Lowering the tire pressure to stock cured it. Stock load index on the "bridge stones" is 89 and the load index of the snows is 91. So along comes warmer weather and now I have a tire running equivalent of 37.5 because of the extra load index maybe more because it has warmed up almost 10 degrees since I added the air. It becomes a science experiment and there is way too much frequency.

  10. I am debating replacing my summer tires this year. I am thinking that the stock Bridgestone Potenza RE92A might not be the way to go this time. I am looking towards the sporty side of michelin and yokohama. Any suggestions?

  12. Ontario Government approved test facility. Need to do it for renewal of registration of vehicle in Ontario. There was a tailpipe sniffer. The machine has two different gasses. One to clean it out and one to provide a calibration sample. Man says next year that all the machinery is changing. From the sounds of what he said the obd II will be doing the work and it will just be a mater of scanning and registering the output with the Government. Paying the administration fee.
  13. Explain what? yes the car passed by a long shot HC stands for hydro carbons. CO% Stands for percent carbon monoxide or CO.
  14. Did my first ever Drive Clean today. Did an off the rollers test in park. Idle at 705 rpm scored 12 ppm HC and 0.00 CO%. 2500 RPM got 20 ppm HC and 0.00 CO%. The pass/max for ppm HC was 150 The pass/max for CO% was 0.7 and the gas cap was tested:lol: 06 impreza wagon

  17. Motoring 11 said they prefer Subaru AWD best when it was hooked to the auto. The auto is really good in snow.
  18. Subaru tells service techs not to even change the filter ( it is already protected by an internal screen ). At your 72,000 KM just do a drain and fill that's it. 3.5 litres without and 4 litres with filter. Do it and be happy! Ironically I ended up doing a rinse with Dex III followed by two replenishments with Subaru HD. As a cocktail by my own anecdotal (accidental) results I might recommend it ( certainly 24 hrs and 150 KM highway with dex 3 didn't hurt ) . Who knows could be the ultimate cheap rinse. I will clearly state that the 4eat in my car has never worked better, and this includes when it was new. Yet again mine is a 06 and HD is recommend mid 05 onwards. I would hazard a guess that many subaru's are driving around without HD or J type fluids in their trany. HD fluids remain with a 7 viscosity at 100 degrees as do J series fluids who marginally exceed that. Not sure what other similarities or differences there are but I do know that regular DEXIII will blend completely.
  19. 06 impreza wagon 4eat 73000KM Recently did a drain and fill with dextron 3 ( accident ). 1 generic filter 2 drain and fills with subaru hd fluid. 1 Subaru filter Each drain and fill was separated by about a 150 km drive. The car is way smoother now! Limo like around town! We both feel it is driving like a new car! So even though I didn't know it could get any better, it did! Do a drain and fill 3.5 litres! ( 4 litres with filter ). Subaru dosent even recommend a filter change. ( I did one ) Do it! you will thank me! Remember Subaru HD fluid mid 05 onwards.
