  1. Yeah, but the Aussie's didn't get the XT6
  2. Well, figures the one axle I didn't reboot or replace now has a ripped DOJ boot. Its alright, I have a new EMPI sitting in my room, just been to lazy to put it in, or have had other things on my mine. Either way, guess I'll be swapping it out soon enough, I'm gonna reboot the original if I don't chew the hell outta it before replacement. I am also thinking of replacing all the Dash bulbs with Green SSLs from SuperbrightLEDs.com Might do some type of combo like I did with the Legacy, hmm.
  3. Not much to say, guess cause I'm watching. But, you're doing a good job and gotta love "Short Block" mode.
  4. Did you turn the pistons so they are at TDC and use a brass wirewheel on a drill? Thats the best way to clean them.
  5. The timing looks dead on, but it can be off a tooth of two and not "Snap spin" on you, Just be gentle.
  6. Was the seal chewed up like that, or was it from removing it? Maybe you'll get lucky and it won't leak. Make sure you re RTV that little plate on the left side of the rear main. The screws for the oil plate look like Allan Keys not Torx
  7. Yours has Torx bits for the rear plate? I've only seen them with #3 Philips screw heads (On 3 different motors) The problem with attemping to replace the rear main is, pressing the new one in square, a little bit off and it will leak (Probably worse then before)
  8. Amazing how many views this thread has had in little over a year. On-going build thread / Journey of TW10.
  9. Just got Fel-Pro valve cover seals today, took the covers off, cleaned them up and have now painted them a deep mica red with silver "SUBARU" lettering. Pics tomorrow.
  10. Yep, been following your thread. Oh, that just looks like a build up of oil, dirt and grease. Mine had the same thing (keeps it from rusting)
  11. I bet your "Caked grease" was from a bad axle boot that has been replaced. Yes, pulling these Subaru engines are very easy.
  12. I had that thought of putting H3 Halogens in place of the reverse light bulbs, Man that would be super bright!
  13. No, please, feel free to post the pictures. Feeds my addiction
  14. Damn, now I was a set!! Maybe I'll just have to drop the money and do it. But not until I get this thing to stop pissing oil and running right again with a new O2 sensor. Why does Japan always get the better stuff and the crap is handed to the USDM and EDM? Lol.
  15. Is there anything else thats different about them besides the clear Ambers? I haven't seen them in person. Damn those Deep 8mm!
  16. Next up will be JDM Tail lights I think, just waiting to find a set on ebay that don't have a $95 Shipping-Charge from Hong Kong. I am also going to replace Cam and Crank seals along with Valve cover seals and groumets in the coming week or so. "The thread that never ends"
  17. Check for rust in the rear wheel wells (Where the coil over bolts to the body) also check out the rockers under the car and the sub-frame rails, these are typical spots on the older Subarus (Along with newer Subarus) Don't be afraid to pick at it, its best to remove stuff and discover the rust before it gets out of hand Cheers.
  18. I dunno, I have seen an '84 GL sedan from Monona at a Junkyard, and it was not "Swiss-Cheese" But either way, a lot of structure rust can be fixed as I have seen. EA82s are good vehicles, just give it some basic care and it'll last (Mine has) -Tom
  19. 3 Deep in Leganus...!
  20. Swapped struts around on my buddy Jon's two Legacys. Red Brighton now has Outback struts, and the Green Legacy L has Standard struts.
