Fuel Filter & Idle Questions
A 3/8" socket extension fits in the fuel line like a glove. Just shove one in the line quickly when you pull it, Then pull it out and put the line back when done. Easier than a clamp and won't damage the line.

Timing Belt Life EA82
Isn't the scheduled replacement for timing belts 60K ? And has anyone ever had them last that long? On 6 of my 7 EA82's the Driver side belt has ALWAYS failed after about 30-40K miles.

is that timing belt idler pulley important?
NAPA isn't always bad pricewise! couple weeks ago, I got an inner seal for my rear wheel bearing (91 Loyale) Schucks wanted $7.99, NAPA was only $2.79 and they were the same manufacturer! (SKG)

Egg in the radiator?
Crimp and fold(or solder) the ends of the leaking tubes, Much better than egg! UselessTrivia for you, Model T's came with a small bag of corn meal in the tool kit, Yep for radiator leaks!

Just a thought...
Question for "Loyale 2.7 turbo" You get 40mpg? Is Honduras mostly level ? I have never seen that kind of mileage out of 7 subaru's I've owned, But I cannot go ANYWHERE that's not up/down hill.

Hesitation and loss of power at freeway speeds
Yeah one near the fuel pump and one under the hood.

Hesitation and loss of power at freeway speeds
This may sound crazy, But have you replaced the rear fuel filter? My GL acted very much like your's. At first intermittently then always. For some reason I never suspected the fuel filter, But when I finally got to it all the symptoms ceased. Incidently my trouble started after buying gas at a "hole in the wall" in rural Oregon. NVEXPLORER may be right about water in the fuel. My rear filter looked like the element was distorted and had a buildup of sediment in it. You could blow through it but not freely.

How are these cars for towing?
I used my GL to tow my daughters 77 Chevy Nova about 90 miles.(up and down hill, winding road) No problem except hot brakes. Seem's a bike trailer wouldn't hurt anything, Just drive mellow.

mpg woes
Didn't by chance retard the timing when replacing the cap/wires? Or knock off a vacuum line? The performance should be degraded if so, Also mileage.

Rear Privacy Cover
What are you asking for your blue cover?

Flushing the Heater Core
It worked great for me, And I just held the hose there with a rag wrapped around the 2 hoses. nasty water came out for about 5 seconds then the flow picked way up and the water turned clear. Went from no heat to good heat in minutes.

Help me start my car!!!
I had same symptoms on my 86 gl, turned out to be starter solenoid (internal contact's had worn paper thin from about 1/4" new). Still first I'd try a KNOWN good battery! Driving and starting, are a world apart for a battery!!! Driving should run on alternator with a DEAD battery, Starting draws a couple hundred amps. battery has to be on the high side of OK to crank. You could hold a voltmeter across the terminals while someone turns the key. I it drops to 9 or less volts, it's shot.

Oil Pressure survey
15-20psi @ 800rpm,(warm). a bit over 45psi at 3200 rpm (speed limit in 5th). 45psi idle, approx. 65psi driving (cold) Never have T.O.D. so I don't know if the oil pump leaks. "91" Loyale EA82 4wd 5spd. about 48,000 mi. on engine. Castrol GTX 10w40. Stock gauges, Temp reads low, Oil press. might also. Gas gauge ACTUALLY runs out on E (very unlike my other Sube's, go all day below E)

Timing Belt Covers - Yay or Nay?
Yeah it seem's that the threaded inserts in the covers are alway's "free spinning" when you try to take them off. Has anyone found a cure for this? Like maybe epoxy or loctite while their off so "Next time" won't be so bad?

87 GL... weird noise
My GL made a groaning/creaking noise when stopping hard or going over speedbumps or similar. It sounded like a worn out front end, When I had to replace the front CV's the noise stopped! A welcome suprise! I would have bet it was other front end parts.

fuel pickup screen?
I always shove a 3/8 drive socket extension in the hose, It's fast and works great!

grinding noise ?
See if the brake caliper is scraping the inside of the rim when it happens, I had a gl do that, After replacing the half axle! Didn't do it before. Had to get a different rim. Only did it in reverse with steering hard over.

fading FM reception
The center conductor goes to the antenna and the shield goes to ground, They both need a good connect to complete the circuit.
