Upgradeing the wheels are what most people do when they lift. It just gives you a better selection of tires since there is hardly anything in 13' tires anymore. You would find it wont effect gas mpg to much and would look sharper. These are what im talking about. Sorry oneeye to hyjack a pic to prove a point.

You have the push button 4wd which is only 4 high. It still gets around great in the winter but if you were wanting to wheel you would benefit from the 4 low. Though that hasn't stopped me. Your car is awsome. You need to get some pugs on that quick. The larger wheel with wider tire will make them handle really well. You will be disapointed when you see how many parts dont really cross over into these cars. Not alot of aftermarket following and even certain parts like better brakes arent available with stock equipment. Things like great brakes There are some pretty impressive sealed beam units out there that you can still use the factory wiring. If you wanted to get things interesting you can swap a legacy 2.2 motor into that thing. Gives you about 50more hp and torque. Much better motor that propells the car further. But with hardly any miles on the car its barely broken in.

Correct me if im wrong sir, but if you replace the HGs with the new designed ones. Isnt that the end of your HG problems for the most part. And you must understand. The average person thinks replaceing the motor with one thats not really suspost to go in there is a silly idea.

sl33py i am your man. My 1st suby that i still have is a dl and i can help you out with all of your questions. 1. Yes any gl mirror will bolt up. When you get one from a junkyard electric or not make sure you get the screws and the gray plastic cover. Be careful because the triangle trim piece can be brittle. If its power then just rip out the electrics like i did and mount it up anyways. Position the mirror buy hand and your good to go. 2. See Above Post 3. You need different rear package trim in order to have the privacy roller shade. You can transfer the GL trim into your DL if you wanted to badly enough. 4. All GL seats should bolt right up. Infact if you replace the rear seat you might as well replace the front 2 as well. GLs had better plush interiors as well so the seats are comfier. On a side note, if the tops of your DL door panels are shot you can use GL ones as well and swap the middle section out for the manual window setup. You could rewire for power windows but its a royal pain to do stuff like that. 5. Stereo is anything you want and i have fit 6 1/2 speakers in the front doors useing the factory mounting area. But you will need to run new speaker wire and drill out the holes in the back doors to mount speakers there. There shoudl be space in the door frame but not on the door panl. Alittle tip. I got 6 1/2 factory speakers from a subaru impreza wrx and they bolted right up to the factory wireing. They were nice panasonic or pioneer speakers, but to each there own. Couple of side notes. If you want bigger rims other then 13 inch you will need to find some peugeot wheels or redrill 6 lug toyota wheels. Is yours a 5 speed or a auto Look up a rear disc brake swap. They are way better then the drums. Be prepaired to make others jelaous of the 4 headlight system. They are far superior to the GLs Big Headlight setup. Yours is Fuel Injected, not carbed. You cannot swap in the tach dash. Theres someone on here called mcbrat. He likes makeing fun of dls. But then you can say atleast you bring subarus to subaru shows. And silver. In McBrats defense he still has a awsome almost rust free brat he has only put a lift on but not wheeled. Its pretty nice.

So after working on my brothers brakes in his cutlass i thought i would check out the tauruses brakes. I didnt half to check far. Both rear brakes rotors are covered in rust. Like they havent been used in quite a while. All the braking is being done up front. Before i dig into this i was wondering if anyone had come across this problem before. Could the calipers be siezed open. Maybe the sliders need greased, or my porpotioning valve is garbage. Any other ideas would be very helpfull. Ben

Lets be honest, the early subarus werent known for plush interiors. Something like what your doing is what i had in mind. And hell 35 bucks for 2 seats aint that bad of an upgrade. Oh and those seats were pretty tore up.

Just curious as what just bolts in to the original seat mounts. Crawling around i noticed my drivers seat is in really bad shape.

Did some work on the subaru today. Fixed some broken vacuum lines and put on my new used iac valve and other one ? I also reattached the power cord for the cb. I despirately need to clean it out. Any advice on cleaning out alot of gravel dust from an interior. I would think that water and other stuff would make a bigger mess.

As far as i know they didnt start putting emission stuff on until 74. I know this because i had a 73 monte once and it had no smog equipment.

Ok well replaceing the bad parts for good ones. Its not restoration but your makeing it look better. And a slide in camper is a very very good idea.

Your pretty much going to end up restoring that thing now arent you. And you wanted to sell it. Now you just need a narley set of chrome bed bars.

Anyway i tried to fix mine today but ended up breaking it. Nothing a quick trip to the parts store didnt fix but i ran out of time to fix it. Now it sits, torn apart in the parking lot not going anywhere for a while.

They made manual cherokees until the very end and as far as i can remember up until 2001 or so they still had the vacume actuated shift on the fly 4wd. They didnt go full push button until the mid 00s. Or so i remember.

I would tend to disagree with you only if you can find a standard transmission. We know the 3.0 chrysler engine was garbage ok. The 3.8s have also had HG problems as well. But i know the inline 6 4.0 and the 3.3 like in my van are very good engines with a long history of reliability. Is it a chevy 350, no but you get my point. When i bought my 05 caravan i was like why am i buying this thing. I know the transmission is garbage. But at that point my wife wanted that one and she wouldnt drive a astro van. Ill pay for it eventually but i guess if your going chrysler stick with a standard transmission.

Dodge buy habbit makes bad trannys. Most of the dodges i find in the junkyard are there because of the trannys. the 4.0 inline 6 is a great motor but the auto trannys seem to be the weakest link. If you get a 5 speed no worries.
