  1. Hgs on the motors but there real easy to replace. The auto trannys kinda suck. If shes lookin jeep she should look manual. I also know they have a pretty good rollover rate when getting radical. But there pretty safe.
  2. 1987 has the fuel injection and the overdrive transmission. But with the 454 it will get not good gas miles. But its also old, easy to work on. Rust free texas truck with mint interior and exterior.
  3. Im thinking that with my new found passion for motorcycles and my need for a truck in a year when i find my 1st home. Also due to the fact that im going to trailer guido when i travel far away to go wheelin its time to find a good truck / tow rig. So then i find this. WOW. http://desmoines.craigslist.org/ctd/1860766087.html
  4. It was soggy out there thats for sure. Got a sweet set of cerwin vega speakers for next to nothing and mick got his escort gt seats. I had to convince him to buy the passenger side one so he had a matching set. Yea definately invest in some water boots next time. My feet were hot. Had a awd legacy there with the 2.2 only 160k on the clock. Also saw a 92 loyale 5 speed with no rust from oreagon. Might snag the fenders if im feelin froggy. Some light wheelin just happened upon us. 3 known lifted wagons in the whole state.
  5. Whoever reads this thread. Guys that was truly the most amazing thing. A thunderstorm roughly the size of the city moved into the desmoines and its suburbs and parked for almost 4 hours dumping pouring rain over and over and over again. I have a feeling that the junkyard which usually after a typical shower gets soggy will be truly a sight to be seen. I will be bringin my camera to take pictures.
  6. You might want to slow down in the construction zone man.
  7. I wouldnt mind a black or a dark blue one. Yea i like white but they get dirty quickly.
  8. I happen to have some spare time this weekend and i could always use a trip to the junkyard to clear my mind. I might not get anything subaru but id lend ya a hand if you needed it. I do have some rubber boots now so i can keep my feet dry. And yes it will be flooded. Let me know if there are some tools you want me to bring. I can bring guido but unless theres a dual range or a lsd in the lot not much i need really. Unless theres a green ford taurus bumper. P.s. Does it need to be that early in the morning. Cant you wait till say 9
  9. If your from new mexico chances are its rust free. We like to see pictures of rust free brats.
  10. You know im not saying it would be impossible for some iowa guys to come up for a bbq in say wisconson if someon wisconson folks were willing to throw one. Im just sayin.
  11. The perfect example of why to do it now. Since youve got the trashwagon now you can have time to let it be down. Hell you should ej it while your at it. Go all out. Then you can be all prepaired wcss next year and ill caravan with ya.
  12. Are dirtbikes and 4 wheelers welcome this day.
  13. Yea, i think i just need to go wheelin again. I had fun and would like to do it some more. But i dont have alot of bucks or time to drive out of town and wheel then camp then drive it home. How much is castina mick.
  14. No kidding, like i said. Its a trailer queen now.
  15. Sh*t tom that was only 50 bucks. Im headed there now.
  16. Your loyale is a trailer queen. I want to see you get it nice and dirty.
  17. Honestly ill probally stick with the subaru but im just saying. Maybe i can sell my taurus and use the k5 as a daily driver. Im sure the kids would love rideing in the back of that.
  18. True but your starting with more capable out of the box. Maybe my engine is sick which im sure it is. But the point ive always had with these subarus. You work so hard for what boils to down to so little. And thats not a bash or anything on your guys awsome rigs. But when you go into major modifications only to be able to go 35inch tires max. Thats considered baseline in alot of offroading areas. So thats kinda where im at. I like my car, ive worked hard to what it is now. It can be better but ive seem some people say screw it im not putting that much into something thats going to blow cv shafts everytime i get it at an extreme angle. And if you go that big you need more power to turn that stuff. I duno, ill probally keep it but its just the thought. Id really like to do some more offroading because it was fun when i went, id like to do that again hint hint.
  19. Yea i can see what your saying GD. I wouldnt run tires larger then 35 inch. Its just that also, ever since i lifted my subaru just 2 inch and put the tires on it handles totally different. The motor in it is so doggy because of this its kinda of a pain to drive. Which wants me to ej it, and if i do that i might as well put the dual range in it then. Which all takes time and money, or i could get a larger stock rig with a motor i can work on easier then the subaru motor. Some place i can go anywhere and get parts for. Ive only hit the cusp of the off road thing. I had a 91 suburban once and that was a blast to drive but the mpg was a joke. I dont know just sittin around thinkin about this stuff.
  20. Heres why. I dont drive it anymore, and i hate having things just sit around. Its a good offroader but not the greatest to maximize its potential. I have the opportunity to trade it in for a k5 blazer. Though i love my subaru the opportunity to have a offroader with 31inch tires standard and solid axels is pretty tempting. Its one of those one or the other things. I like how my car is unique but in order to make it better i need to install the dual range tranny and solidify the rear end. I probally need more lift also but again i just dont know. Just curious as to what you folks think.
  21. And when your ready to sell. Ill buy it off of ya for 1500 bucks.
  22. Agreed. Rule number one. You dont sell a rare rust free subaru. You could always put a subaru wrx drivetrain in it and have something outrageously unique.
  23. If this is at all real. You have a unmolested, original convertable. They didnt make many convertables and hardly any are in that good of condition. Tell your husband with all due respect he is an idiot and you need to keep the rare classic car.
