  1. An EA82 fit in there without hacking up the framerails? Might want to take a closer look at that before buying.
  2. You need to line up all 3 timing marks before you pull the belt. 2 on the cam pulleys go straight up and one on the tabs on the back of the crank pulley to the notch in the oil pump. This is not tdc. With all the marks lined up the pistons are all halfway up, which is what you want.
  3. Imprezas don't have a drain plug until 02. I also just jumper the fuel pump wiring and pump it out.
  4. I don't ever resurface subaru heads. Think about how short they are. If the engine got hot enough to warp a head, I refuse to fix it. You know it'll be back knocking in a few weeks if you do it. The factory finish on the heads is better than anything your typical local machine shop can do as you found out. You need a finish as good as factory to seal the new updated mls gaskets.
  5. It's 10'x easier to do HG's with the engine out and is easy to pull. But do the 2.2 and drive the car another 100,000 miles. It's a better choice.
  6. April fools joke I hope. The pic looks like somebody took a belt sander to it.
  7. Common problem. I just zip tie the shift lock linkage back so it never engages. Problem solved.
  8. I have 01 Impreza seats in my 95 Impreza. I just swapped the buckles over. I've never had a problem. If they sit too far inward, just bend them out a bit.
  9. It's air injection. Just remove all that junk and block off the port under the passenger side valve cover.
  10. I sure know it. I've made a good living off subaru resale value for the last 5 years. You don't even have to try hard to sell used ones.
  11. That's about what I get as well to do a 2.2 swap as well. About $1000-1100. We're 2000 miles apart, so no competition for business.
  12. I've been cutting sections out of rust free junkyard cars and welding them in.
  13. Go to nasioc and search. Most mechanical parts can be swapped over if used in the right combination. The wrx rear lsd is the wrong ratio unless the wrx was an auto.
  14. Awesome. You'll be happy with it. I've never had a single complaint about the ones I've done, they should have built them like that. I crank these swaps out like a factory, I probably have close to 100 of them running around here on the east coast, I lost track of how many I've done after 50 or so. My buddy and I did one in an hour and fifteen minutes once.
  15. I just install a fuel door with a finger pull when the cables go bad. Imprezas had them some years/models. They probably would fit a legacy, everything else does.
  16. 02 and 03 Impreza front end parts interchange. Sedans have the flared fenders and wagons don't. So the bumpers are different. But the complete front end will interchange between sedans and wagons. I have a complete 02 WRX wagon front end for $1000 if you need it.
  17. You should drop the EJ25D off at your local scrap metal recycling facility while it's out, get some cash for it and buy a 2.2. Unknown history overheated EJ25D is just asking for trouble. You'll spend all your time and money doing HG's and a month later it'll have a rod knock. Especially with a teenage driver, who isn't going to be easy on it. Lots of people have learned this the hard way.
  18. $1000 is a good price. Buy it, swap in a cheap 2.2, never worry about head gasket or engine problems again and drive it another 100,000 miles.
  19. I get them for 10 bucks at the junkyard here. I've got an extra one somewhere, no sure if its ca or fed.
  20. The cali cars have a few more sensors and solenoids in the tank and evap. Probably would get a cel for what's missing.
