  1. ] Oh and your are nuts to try an do those heads in the car. It's much easier if you pull the engine.
  2. They get really tight. I use a 2 foot bar to break them loose. You really have to lean into it. They will make a snapping noise a few times then get loose. My compressor doesn't have enough psi to break them loose with an air gun, that's how tight they are.
  3. I will search craigslist in that area and see if I see anything that interests me. Does the guy have an amount in mind?
  4. 96 would have a 2.2 if it's a 5 speed. 2.5 if it's an auto. The old heads are just about the same, just different exhaust ports. No point in changing them.
  5. It's a fair price. I get EJ22's for $80 but I have to pull them myself.
  6. It's a little over 4 feet wide and 10 feet long. 1200 lbs is about right.
  7. Yeah you are much more likely to find somebody who had the same problem on nasioc.
  8. If you cut the seal, try to keep at least one section intact. Then cut it so you can get the profile of the seal. Some of the restoration places have profiles you can look at to try and match it up.
  9. You might be able to find another seal that would work. There is some universal stuff out there too. Probably your best bet would be to cut the seal and save the glass if you have to get the windshield out.
  10. Can you still get a seal for an FF-1? There are no more left for the 360, so I had to leave the glass in when I painted it. But if you can get a new seal just cut it with a utility knife. If you are going to try to get it out and save it good luck it's probably rock solid.
  11. Is it glued in or does it sit in a rubber seal?
  12. It kinda looks like the steering column is lowered to clear the turbo.
  13. Yes, some of them have a ground wire for the trans in the area of the pitch stopper.
  14. You need to tell us what you're working on. But generally speaking most newer subies have 1 or 2 on top of the intake and the ground cable for the battery goes to by the starter.
  15. I'm a little confused as far as what you want to do with the signal for the neutral switch. If the ECU now thinks it's a 5 speed, it shouldn't need a signal from the park/neutral switch. But anyway, if you think it needs 5 volts there, just pick up 12 volts from somewhere and add a resistor as needed to lower the voltage to 5.
  16. Yeah just put it in, you don't have to do anything with the holes. I have an automatic radiator in my wrx, most replacement ones are universal anyway.
  17. FP is nice stuff. I'm considering thier 18g turbo for my wrx now. I still might go with a 16G not sure yet, still considering options.
  18. We didn't get the twin scroll stuff here in the US. So it would all have to be imported from Japan. For bolt on stuff here the 16, 18, 20G mitsubishi turbo's and the VF 22, 30 34, 39, 43 etc. are very popular for subies.
  19. Nice car. An '05 with that many miles must be a lot of highway. Price isn't bad. Go for it!
  20. A little of everything, fix up cars to sell on ebay, general repairs, sometimes I sell other stuff and parts on ebay too. I'm semi-legit, I actually pay taxes as a "self employed mechanic". Someday I will open up a small used car dealership I think.
  21. SELF-employment is the best choice I ever made. If I feel like working, I work. If I feel like sleeping, I sleep.
  22. I have 3 kids and I haul them around in the backseat of the wrx no problem. The trunk is pretty big too. If you are looking a new wrx, my feedback might not be so usefull, the 08 is redesigned and a lot different. A legacy GT is a nice car too. I especially like the Legacy GT spec B.
  23. I have an 02 WRX. It's a great car I have no complaints. You seem to be concerned about the seats? I can say the wrx seats are the best of any car I've ever owned. I've done 10 hours straight driving and my back doesn't hurt.
  24. GT 35R seems to be the hot setup with the rotated mount.
  25. I have never done it myself. But I have seen cars in the junkyard with the diff and axles out and the rear suspension untouched. So I think it can be done.
