Ok, i have the motor, ecu and harness out of i belive a 94 turbo legacy sedan. could be older. The ecu spent the last few months under water (leaky garage roof). not sure if the ecu still works. i used a whole can of lectro-motive and scrubbed it with a toothbrush. i pluged it into my mother in laws 91 n/a and tryed to start it as a test. the car didn't start but backfired a few times. My question is... Is the turbo ecu supposed to start the 91 na legacy?, everything plugged right in as the stock ecu did but im not sure if the drowned one normally would start it at least at idle, or maybe run rough or somthing. i also tryed a na ecu with a different number than the one in the legacy and it started it. turbo ecu, "E8" 22611 AA691 (bacfired on test car) spare n/a ecu, "B8" 22611 AA382 (started but would not idle, reved fine) ecu in test car, 91 legacy na, "E7" 22611 AA563 (original to test vehicle) If the turbo ecu "E8" should't start a 91 legacy then is there anyone with a turbo legacy also using the E8 ecu willing to plug mine in and let me know if it works? i'll ship it to anywhere i need to and back and willing to pay whatever ya want to plug it in and let me know. If i determin that my turbo ecu is no good is it possible to run a turbo 2.2 with the non turbo B8 ecu or will i need to find another ecu from a turbo legacy? where as they have the same plug setup the internals are alot different. Left is my spare n/a "B8" ecu and right is the turbo ecu "E8" that was drowned. Chim.

You can, i usually cut the pipe 1/2 inch from the fitting and weld it closed. just as long as it's a tight seal. -

Absolutely, cut em and pinch em off or weld them closed. -

nope, that knock sensor hasn't been plugged in since the motor swap like 6 years ago, plug is all messed up and have been lazy about fixing it:lol: -

absolutly, but they obtain higher resistance by adding more octane. -

ok, so i was unable to find that collector, covered in snow somwhere on the property. it's the one i had on my car before i decided to go duels. a friend of mine has a car with a collector that i built tho, ill talk him into bringing it over for a pic. -

im currenly running 14 psi boost on a stock ea81 and have no trouble running regular, given it did run better before they forced the ethinal junk, running super does seem to give a little better milage, other than that i don't notice much difference. -

That wouldn't cause it to missfire, if anything it would miss more on higher octane fuel. octain is a catalyst and the more of it you have in your fuel the less flamable the fuel will be. Thus why it's used in performance vehicles that have very high compression. running a low octain fuel in a high compression vehicle causes pre detination or "ping" wich is the sound of the fuel detinating before it should. Think of Diesel, not very flamable by itself but apply alot of compression and heat and it becomes very flamable. -
Is tehre anyway to run an $WD trans in a FWD car?
CHIM replied to aaronxs400's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
your gonna need to have the drive shaft it as it tailshaft seals around the spline and keeps the oil in. whats year is the car? if it's an EA-82 just run the front half shaft and bolt the carrer up. -
could be a condensation build up and froze. mine has done it a few times. i usually leave it on the warm setting and while it warms up it'll start moving. i plan on pulling the dash aparts and soaking it in WD40.

Nope, won't mess ya up, if your making a new Y pipe just watch your angles on the collector. on the collectors i build i make a seperator. lot of people don't wich causes a bit more than desirable back preasure. -

I used the stock flange and cut the old pipe off flush and ground it smooth, increased the flange to 2" and welded 2 inch pipe to it. i used to work at "custom metal concepts", metal fab and exhuast speciaty shop so we had a hydrolic bender. As far as your bends your gonna want to measure your bend and check the fit before you weld everything up. everything i have ever done has been built completly custom to the aplication. i don't use any universal measurments. but it's roughly 4-5 inches from the flange. your crossmember will be channeled for pipe clearence tho. i wish i had a good line of sight of my cross pipe and collector on my turbo, that is just a work of art!. i have it all wrapped up in fiberform tape tho. -

I allways pull the blocks off and tap the stud holes to a standard coarse thread and thread lock them in. Using a stud that course on one end and fine on the other, course side in head. I got sicks of stripped studs. and then run a wild custom system. My custom system on my GL-10 turbo: And custom dual on my lifted wagon: -
OMG!, this makes me wanna get to work on my RX, it's been sitting in the garage untouched for over a year. If i get a decent tax return im gettin my megasquirt and droppin the 2.2 turbo in it. after looking at this picture i went to the garage and starred at it for a good 10 min. Anyone have an XT6 they wanna part out?
-
This radiator came out of a 94 legacy and is pictured in my 84 GL-10 wagon. wassnt to difficuly. Had to drop it down and behind the stock lower mounting point. just welded the brackets to the support and made the upper bracket to bolt up and threw an in-line cap. Helps keep that turbo alot cooler.

I have been running a welded diff now for 2 years (both axles in), No problems as of yet, just make wider turns and you should be fine. Speed thing doesn't seem to be an issue with me at all.
