S. OR camp/trail run. Sep 19-21
soobme replied to a topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yea, U are prolly right:rolleyes: . And it needs to be done any way. And I got my suspension lift in the back done today to, so that helps give me some more time. -
Are those ALUMINUM?!? They look GREAT, but I'd hate to hit a deer with one, I saw what it did to mountan griz's steel bar. Aluminum would not hold up as well on the trails around here, my buddy had one from oz land on his Toyota PU. That lasted 2 runs before it was so mangeld that we had to take it off.

OK, so do I still need to do all the water proofing before the run? ( I have other projects on the car I'd like to spend the time on if poss.) I LOVE TECHNICAL TRAILS!!!!! It is soooo much fun to see just how tight of a line U can take, and then pull it off:grin: -
I had no idea it would get such good reviews:D It is arownd 35lbs, and it uses the stock holes in the sides of the body to mount it. I could duplicate it for arownd $70, and 2 days of work. And it's VERY stout! It takes my winch in the rcever, and never moves at all when I'm pulling.

I never thought of that before, but it makes sense! That little tid bit of info will come in handy:burnout: I will use the 2x35A fuse Idea, 70A sould be perfect! Thanks!

Well, it looks like my nephew IS going to get the Subaru, so he will be comming on the trip with us. -
Good point! I never thought of that. So if I do I should add a fuseable link in the line. 65amps should do it, yes, no?
-
I know that at least one went with them.

Do we have a definat head count yet? -
I know that that #4 is over kill, but I have allways used it for all my batt. and alt. cables:drunk: It's welding cable and it works GREAT ! I just wonderd if it will hut any thing to have a wire going strate from the alt. to the batt.:cornfuzz:
-
On an EA82, can I run a heavy (4gauge) wire trait from the charging post on the back of the alt. to the battery? I know that this will help get more juce to the batt., but I dont know if it will cause a problem some where down the line in the harness or the computer:confused:

Any one hear anything from them since Sunday?
-
Thanks! I know the 1st thing we will be doing if he gets it;)

I don't have a Y pipe my self to look @ but: What if U un-bolted the Y from the heads, would that give U enough room to pull it down and get the sheeld off? Or @ least enough room to get to the O2 sensor.

Well, my sister-inlaw's son is going down today to see about trading in his Ford 1/2T 4X4 in on an '84 D/R 4x4 wagon. It's got good paint on it, and a set of crome mods w/snow's. If he gets it he will be going on the 8-19 S.O. camp trip with us:-) Do the EA81 4X4's have adjustable suspention like the EA82's do?

John said to tell U that they tried to hook up with U while they wer going through. And that they will try on the way back. We should try to all get together for an HR or 2 when they are coming back through.

EA81&EA82 Intake Manifold Q.
soobme replied to JonOfScio's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As far as I know, they will swap between EA81&EA82, becaus I know that U can put FI from an EA82 on to the EA81 engine with no mods to the heads or block. -
I saw them all in Medford today arownd 6:00PM @ Schucks Auto. They had to get a belt for Johns hatch. I gave them Adams #, but he was @ a wedding today. Kens Brat looks good! Lumpycam said that he was "the only one that would make it through the trail.":burnout: They seemed to be in good spirets, and wer planing on hiting the trail in the morning I think.

My turbo car is ANYTHING but prime:( And it's all I got for a 4x4, and I just don't care for the complexity of EFI&Turbo W/water&oil cooling all on one engine, not to mention that it leaks oil like a sive, and springs a new water leak every month:banghead: And I am sick to deth of chasing FI problems all the time, I miss my carbs. I know that they don't work as well off road, but they do work. I thought that the pump was in the tank, is the one on the under-side of the car the only one? If so then I have NO PROBLEMS:D

Best way to gain C.R. with EA81T heads
soobme replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I was looking @ Adams EA81T intake and heads yesterday, and it looks like U sould be able to just drill the hole in the heads (for the stock injectors) to take the CIS injector holders. But I could be wrong on that. If that will not work, U could have a machine shop make U 4 injector holders out of aluminum that way they could be welded on, then they will expand and contrackt @ the same rate as the head. -
When I go from The EA82T in my car to the EA81 will the EA81's fuel pump pull through the pump in the tank, or will I need to swap to a carbed fule pick up?
-
U are making this tooooo eazy! I didn't think of it till I got home and was lookin' @ the EA81 W/ the carb on it. And I do have a 2bbl on mine, and the starter IS off on the driver side:D I will start looking for a 1bbl carb, so keep one of your intakes ready for me. As soon as I'm ready, I will get it in, and the turbo is all your's:headbang:

I was there today with the digi cam, but I didn't take any pic's caus I didn't know if he was ready to let the cat out of the bag yet:rolleyes: . I can tell U that it looks good, and the engine is up where it sould be now( ER27 ) This thing sould be THE BOMB!
