  1. So I installed the coil overs on with the torsion bar turned up. Way to stiff (like what was said and I thought it would be). Tried to turn down the adjustment of the torsion bar and broke the bolt. So I removed the torsion bar from the tube. Reasembled everything, turned the coil overs to the stiffest setting and went for a drive. Bottoms out and doesnt flex to save its life. So this part was a fail! Gonna try something differant.
  2. Hey guys, what have you done if you broke the adjustment bolt for the torsion tube. I put the EA82 coil overs one and was trying to releave it for the softer suspension. I am thinking about the bar that the bolt goes to just remove it. I think this will work, what do you think?
  3. Built the brackets tonight. I made mine a little differant than was shown. I am not using any washers. I drilled the holes for the coil overs bigger than the bolts I used and then welded the nuts to the front of the plate. Thus using less "washers". This was still not enough spacing, so I drilled the center of the same size nuts out and used those as spacers. This worked perfectly, have about a 1/4 inch between the coil and the inner fender. More to post later.
  4. Thanks, I figure about 300-400 lbs for the canopy, basket and spare swamper. If it was to bouncy I was going to use the torsion tube as my adjustment. I will post what I come up with. Now looking at the other post that were on here. I may have a broken torsion tube. The drivers side of the brat sits down 3/4-1 inch lower than the passenger side. There is not a load on either side... already checked.
  5. I have searched and found one post on this, which the question was never answered. I have the same problem evtte had. The rancho shocks are to soft. Now before I get the "put the air shocks on" story. I have a 4 inch lift on my brat, I also have a canopy with a roof basket and full size spare. So I already have alot of weigh in the rear. When I take off from a stoplight, in the mirrors all I see is pavement. I seen the GD has put the EA82 rear coils on his EA81, I would like to know if there is an easy way this could be done. zzz
  6. Where do you have your ground? Gas or flux welder?
  7. 85 Brat EA-EJ adaptor plate Flywheel redrilled Havent had a single problem one, Scott even called me to varify what I wanted. TOP NOTCH!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I have done that trail also in a roo. been a couple years. Probably alot worse by now.
  9. So I have a tow bar for flat towing my brat. I am going to wire it into the original harness for the tail, brake and turn signals. Has anyone done this yet?
  10. Sounds like the cops were diggin the "BRATS", every one slipped by without a ticket. Sorry ZAP, cant say the some for you. Should have brought the brat. I know I cant wait for the next meet!
  11. No speeding tickets for me this weekend! Barely scaled by that one... 61 in a 45!

  13. Installed clear headlight and painted the grill semi gloss black.
  14. Took 3rd place in tuff truck race in Rainier WA. this last weekend. Now I need a new p/s pump.
  15. Sounds like a plan. I will tackle that think weekend. It did its bobble thing today for a could miles, by the time I had a chance to pull over and inspect. It was gone. I am wondering if I have a vaccum line the may be collapsing.
  16. Reno- Any luck with getting your problem figured out?
  17. Gloyale- Will hooking that up make the CEL light come on the dash like it is suppose to? Also I forgot what IIRC stands for.
  18. No worries, I must have miss read that part. I will put my CEL light in and see what I get. If I floor mine, it most of the time wont go away. Its like it had a mind of its own. Drove it 50 miles today and didnt do it at all.
  19. No I havent hooked up the CEL, I am pretty sure mine is vaccum related. I have that huge intake and the fittings are not as tight as I would like. I also have the bigger vaccum line that is kinda kinked. Im pretty sure that the issue is vaccum. Mine does not happen everytime on coasting to a stop. It can happen just driving. I can feel it surge a bit and to the FLOOR test and its there. Drive a bit down the road and its gone. When I get around to fixing my vaccum line I will post how it works.
  20. Wiring and center console?
  21. I have a similar problem with my ej swap. Except that mine doesnt die. I have a ej18 with a ej22 auto harness. So in that area we have the same stuff. But i have found that when my idle drops to +/-400 rpm's it always catches itsef. BUT, when drive (stop and go traffic) and I floor it, at about 7/8 throttle I have a huge bobble/surge, let off the throttle a little bit and its fine. Then it does away. I think I have narrowed mine down to an intake/vaccum leak. Just my .02, hope that might help.
  22. The exhuast is starting to get a bit louder. Intake is still louder then the exhuast.
