  1. So, just a little resurrect here. After seeing the pics from Dave's install, I decided to hunt down some HID's too. I was going to do the DL quad swap, and put some nice Hella H4/H1 combos in it, but this is about the same price. So, after scanning the options on the BayE, I decided not to go with the same kit. Seems the seller is really bad at communicating (took him about a week to respond to a simple question). Anyways, I came across Xenon Rider (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZxenonrider) (http://www.xenonrider.com). 100% Bay-E satisfaction, responded to questions the same day. The kit I got is a Hi-Lo type, uses a funky telescopic bulb mechanism to change the focal point, thereby giving you both Hi and Lo beam positions, both in HID. IT PLUGGED RIGHT IN AND WORKED! I was kind of worried about this, because of the ground-switching headlight system, but it works great. 4300K is a great color, shouldn't attract too much po-po attention. I also have one of the factory headlight sockets free to use for my fog and driving light wiring to control the relays properly. I know you all want pics, but it's been some time since I could upload pics to the gallery, mods have tried to fix it. Anyways, the mounting and wiring is not complete, I'll try to do some proper pics when it's done. And I'm still waiting for my damn tires. Stereo's almost done, though.
  2. Nevermind. Found where the DRL relay is, then found my shop manual.
  3. Ummmm . . . try 33ish. Awesome score, Bryan! Does he have any other good stuff hiding out?
  4. Umm, so I live in the PNW area. I mean, I'm only about an 8hour drive away. Can I crash on your couch? Actually, even better: Andy, go pick it up for me. And find me a tranny while you're out that way. I all seriousness, someone should really jump on this. And give the guy some money for it! It's worth something!
  5. Anyone have them with details on Canadian cars? I can't find my shop manual right now, trying to figure out the headlight system w/DRL. (yes, I could probe wires - but I like schematics)
  6. Thanks guys. Your car kinda prompted this, Skip (saw the frontend shot in the "Offroad Lights" thread. I picked up a brand new Hella 530 fog light set from the pawn shop yesterday for $25! They fit in the factory turn signal spot VERY well, so I think I'm gonna do a re-locate. Hmmm . . . Bi-Xenon headlights, LightForce 140's, and Hella 530's. That oughtta cover my lighting needs. For the front.
  7. OK, got some feedback from the "Similar Threads" at the bottom (funny how the search didn't find them). Any other experiences, though?
  8. So, has anyone here relocated the turn signals from to bumper to the parking light assembly by the headlights? How did you do it? (I'm assuming you can just buy the proper 2-filament bulbs and sockets and wire it in, but just thought I'd ask)
  9. That you know of. I remember seeing a lifted EA-81 wagon (4" or so, stock tires ) in Kelowna or therabouts in '89 or so (I remember the approximate year, because we had just gotten our '82 around that time). It's possible that someone else had one in the states as early as that, I guess.
  10. I was only ever there in spirit, but I remember pretty much every single one of those pictures! (I made it down for one OOSC meet, but all the pics from it vanished with John and Ross). Sure is nice to see a trip down memory lane like this!
  11. SHO = whole new set of problems. Hope you like changing brakes, clutches, and subframes. Not to mention cats, and dealing with cooling system issues.
  12. So, I picked up some 140's today. I'm going to get them wired up and mounted while I'm doing all the other stuff I need to do (stereo, rear disc swap, rear diff swap, etc.) while I'm waiting for my tires. As soon as I have the lights done, I'll do some pics.
  13. More info on car: is it an auto? If so, when was the tranny serviced last? When was the last tuneup (filters, plugs, etc)?
  14. I read the info on the MSD site: does not say anything about backpressure there. It does say that the exhaust chamber injection makes the chamber act like it is longer, because the charge is denser, and moves slower. That makes sense to me (particularly on a 2-stroke).
  15. You've been teasing us with this for awhile! This guy must be slow as molasses! What, does he have a day job and a family and everything? I bet bet he's spending all his spare time trying to get his 'project car' on the road or something lame like that.
  16. I was wondering about that idea. Looks like a simple enough mod for those of us with the right tools.
  17. After much reading, that's what I found as well. I did find a nice thread about a guy who put a Liberty twin turbo engine in a 914 using MSnEDIS (minus one of the turbos). Have not read it all yet. The other issue I saw mentioned is that it takes a LOT of fiddling to get good drivablility with MS. Having a few good base maps available would be nice, but this luxury is not available with the EJ-22 right now. Doesn't look too hopeful, as this will be my DD.
  18. I know there have been a few issues mentioned, but don't remember exactly what. What other full standalone options are there (similar $$ to MS)
  19. So, a guy locally has offered me a '96 2.2 for my swap (into '93 Loyale). He has the entire car, but from what I've read, the OBD cars make the swap a PITA. If this is wrong, correct me now. If not, my question is this: would doing a Megasquirt setup be easier than sorting out the factory harness issues? Or is there another option I'm not thinking of.
  20. Well, if you just bought the car you have a lot of unknown parts to deal with. You most likely don't know when the plugs were last changed, nevermind other things like filters. I usually throw new plugs, filters, and disty cap/rotor (I know you don't have them) in every car I buy. The exception would be the last Loyale I bought, which had all of that done right before I got it. You can probably just put in a set of new NGK plugs in the standard heat range for the engine. Run some fuel system cleaner as suggested (something else I like to do) and see how it does after that. A lot of Legacys (especially auto's) don't get driven hard enough to burn the crap out of the combustion chambers. After putting a good dose of fuel system cleaner in the tank, run it hard up a long hill or something to get some heat into it!
  21. Erm, I think this is with the i-Drive system. Not exactly a "hot-wire" type issue, I don't think. There may be a setting somewhere in the ECU/TCU, or it may be something that is able to be set by flashing the unit (read- performance shop, ie: PDX Tuning or someone)
  22. Prices around Nelson here suck, but there's lots of Soobs in the yards. Stop by and say hi if you come through Nelson.
  23. Tried the forum search. 3-character keywords don't work. Kinda hard when you just search for "EA-82 Pump".
  24. Anyone know if there were any differences on the 85-92 vs. 93-94?
  25. Right, but where I live I need extra light on the highways, too. When I lived in the city (Calgary), I almost never used my high beams, but back in the sticks here I need high beams and more all the time. And I've been offroad several times when more light would've been a blessing. Some of the access roads around here (basically, logging roads) are good enough to do a fairly brisk speed - but not at night without a little help from better lighting. Of course, the actual 4X part of the driving I usually do when it's daylight. Unless I'm stuck
