  1. nope, part-time 4wd's (non-turbos...i beleive), were 3.9s, full-times (dual range or not) were 3.7.
  2. :cool::-p:slobber: :banana::banana::banana:
  3. Looks like I might not need it!!! my dad just bought an '88 D/R 5-speed wagon with shot shocks (ha ha), and bad disty, so I think I'll throw my adjustables on it and lift it instead, then fix up the loyale and sell it.
  4. well.....little change of plans, my car tried to throw that stupid axle back at me (ok, it turned out to be loose lug nuts, but it sounded like a DOJ....and gave me a good scare), so I didn't get out of town, but I'll be leaving in the next hour or so, so I'll be there about noon-1 or so...
  5. Well, my AA lift should be at my parents place by now, and I will as of late tonight, so tomorrow (tuesday) I will start tearing things apart, I'll be taking the rust-free florida body and FI motor of my loyale (see sig) and putting the D/R 5-speed drivetrain from my GL + lift under it. there will probably be lots of pop and chips, and stuff, free to anyone who helps! my ultimate goal (probably won't happen, but I can dream can't I?) is to drive a lifted wagon to the midnight star wars showing. Anyway, the address is 4880 County Road 6, from the cities, you go west on 394, turns into 12, through long lake, then you come to a stoplight (county road 6), turn left, drive ~ a mile, first driveway on the right AFTER townline drive. I'll probably be there at all reasonable hours of the day, in the garage working, but if you'd like to call and check, the number's 763-479-3298, and ask for Matt or Chux, it really doesn't matter. my parents know what I'm doing and that I'm inviting people, so it's cool to just show up too. I won't be picking up the phone unless my mom's there, so if you get the machine, leave a message, I'll call you back, or send someone in to screen them. here's a map: So if you guys with the BYB kits wanna see the *first* AA lift on the market and it's installation, come on over!
  6. hehehe....I've done that....and yes, it really is funny when everything's done and working. I've never done a lift, so I can't help you specifically with that, but, as is the case with many large projects, sometimes it helps to stand back and think for a few minutes (though if does feel really good to throw something...)
  7. Yes, they are plastic, but they're some pretty heavy duty stuff, not your everyday, thin, flimsey crap. but I don't know how hot they cook 'em to do the powdercoating...
  8. Well, FINALLY my subie and my wheels were in the same town together, so on they went! (I live in Duluth for college, cars live at my parents in the Twin Cities, wheels were up here with me...) And D@MN are they HOT!!! I love black on black...ish. And I finally got some carriage bolts and wing nuts to attach the fairing for my roof rack, now just some tabs for the lights, lift, unibody swap......oh man..... Anybody know if you can powdercoat these centercaps???
  9. have one of each, my dad lives by his haynes (has one for every car he's ever owned), I think it's pretty crappy, but if you can't get your hands on an FSM (or just to lazy, like me), you can usually find the info you want between the 2.
  10. Yea..unless you retrofitted Les's former-wagon with your lift, that's a BYB lifted car, though I see you've tinted the windows and put your decals on it, so I suspect you did. Got you're email/PM...sounds great, should get here in perfect timing. Just thought I'd put in a good word for these guys...I've ordered one of these lifts, and despite the fact that I ordered before they started producing them, they have been in great contact, and my lift will be here ontime. And also not to badmouth PK, as I know he does great work, but if he had been in contact as reliably and easily as these guys, my wagon would have been lifted before any of us had heard of Allied Armament. And at a competetive price (oh wait, I got a killer deal cause I ordered so soon, and none of you will get that!!!! MUWAAHAAHAA).
  11. how long are you staying? I'll be coming down on Sunday, the 15th and starting the install of my new Allied Armament lift on monday, I'd love to meet up with you, and see that imp!
  12. Nice!!! Is that yours?!?
  13. Do tell! What tranny? What happened, I'm running RWD temporarily, and want to know if I should be afraid (I probably have MUCH less power than you do)
  14. or a garage day! I'll be doing my lift/4wd swap that weekend!
  15. Awesome...keep 'em coming!!!
  16. looks awesome...and SOLID!
  17. yea yea, i know everybody asks about tires. but i want to hear what everybody's running. (maybe a good sticky) just what year/engine, lift size, tire dimensions (standard AND metric if possible), stock springs or not (accord, RX, ?), adjustable suspension?, trimmed fenders?, wheels, and anything else that might be relevant. so those of us putting tires on a lifted rig for the first time can have a bigger "square 1" from which to start. I like this write-up: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=198832&posted=1#post198832 but want more info about sizes. I've ordered a 4" Allied Armament lift, have 15" pug alloys, and adj. suspension, just need tires...
  18. It's not that cold!!! MSP is nothing, try living next to the deepest lake in north america! I have no advice....nothing you don't already know....dealers, misc repair shops.
  19. hmmmmmm.....there's an old stop sign in my parents garage........*lightbulb goes on*......
  20. My weekends in July are pretty much taken...but june and august look pretty open, so...
  21. Morgan, I am focused, I've got wheels, lift is on the way, exhaust, some extra parts, tow strap. the only things left are tires and bumpers. Anyway, I'm not very close, but it isn't far from my parents house (where most of my friends live, and some of them have trailers), so sending someone to pick it up would be easy. but I don't have a way to look at it before the auction ends. He says the grill, headlights, fender, and hood would need to be replaced, and the rust isn't very bad, very fixable. but that his scanner made the pictures come out crooked, I asked him for more, and we'll see. as for my budget, right now it's limited...to say the least. With the money set aside to finish my wagon, I'm left with only a few hundred bucks, for now. though when the pay period here at the school is over I should be getting a hefty check from some of the extra work I've done for the orchestras. I probably won't buy it, but I haven't seen any for sale in this area, almost at all, except that rust-bucket morgan found a while back. I'll get some more info, and see if any of my friend are down in that area in the next few days.
  22. Anyone have any insight on this ebay brat? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6467&item=4544107590&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW I really want a brat, and they're hard to come by in this area...those of you brat guys, or just somebody who knows a bit more about the structural makeup of these. Does this damage look repairable? Any of you guys in the cities, or souther mn want to take a look at it for me? Kurt, you're down that direction aren't you?
  23. nope, never heard of anyone stripping out their transfer case doing this, it seems to have been designed to take 100% of the power either way. the guys running a second, devorced t-case run it off of the rear output on the tranny alone, then have a seperate, external front diff below the transaxle. and I haven't heard of any of them damageing the subie t-case.
