  1. Build off!?! A little "friendly" competition never hurts.
  2. Don't know about the model, but some mazda 14's are about a perfect offset. Check out post #6 here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=95517&highlight=trail+wagon SJR makes a real nice 4 incher...I like it's light weight, and the 3" drop gives you 1" clearance over stock.

Have you noticed any extra heat or rattles from having the exhaust tucked up more? My exhaust sags and I was thinking of going up and over as well.
  4. I've been on enough runs now to get some pretty good ones. Baker Lake 01/01/10 Custer PSE field 12/27/09 Walker Valley 11/07/09 Custer 'Baru B' Q. 7/26/09 Walker Valley 2/7/09
  5. Great idea! If we decide to go that route, I'll be headed down to portland in a week. Think a slim fan would mount to the underside? The other option Scott came up with is to raise the rad. and support. That would not shorten it, but improve the approach angle.
  6. I would check the relay after fuses.
  7. With the cap off, squeeze the upper rad. and heater hoses to get out most of the air. You can also park nose up on a steep hill and run it, but that's never worked for me...seems to build up pressure and just dribbles water instead of air. Check your water regularly, and if any is missing at all, it may be a blown headgasket. Mine does that, and has never had water in the oil.
  8. We had a great time, as usual!!! You guys do much on that last trail? I spotted a gravel pit of sorts on the left of that trail, coming back down, but we were done and low on gas. All the rest: http://s387.photobucket.com/albums/oo319/ericget/Baker%20Lake%20run%20Jan%201st%20%202010/?start=0
  9. Nice! I had been up to goat eons ago, but never seen (or cared about) any good places to wheel. I'll have to hit that up on one of my oregon trips.
  10. Same bolt pattern, though your brat wheels may not clear the front calipers. I'd bring 'em just in case, or you could probably mount them on the rears.
  11. It's hard to tell from your small avatar, but isn't yours the newer style EA82? You know...sticks out like a foot, instead of the plastic covered tin foil one. There's not much room there to mount lights into steel. With the cover and foam off, you could carve out some foam and mount some extension brackets.
  12. The pics are deceiving, but that's a stock wheelbase, so we don't want to make it any longer. Prob pull the rear seat and put a smaller gas tank there. Removable mud flaps for the rear. This thing will be light and powerful with an EJ in it.
  13. HA!!!! Everyone's prob worried about their hangovers...but not me. Pam and I will make it.
  14. Maybe, but I think the radiator should be relocated and the front chopped too.
  15. Sorry Jeff, it was too late in the day this time. The kid was doing nothing but playing on the xbox, so we left after 2:00 and wheeled until dark. Normally I'd get a much earlier start, but being so close to home allows for this sort of thing. Next time I'll at least give you the chance.
  16. Custer, WA. near Bellingham.
  17. We had our stepson come up for a visit this weekend, so thought it might be fun to do some spur of the moment wheelin. Pamela took the bronco for a recovery vehicle, and took all the pics. It was quite the challenge! The mud was permafrost, not allowing for much of a run at the pits. It was rough going...I imagine much like rock crawling. The pits were iced over about 2 inches, full of water, and prob some cold thickened mud at the bottom. Much different than the last time I was there with NWOG! I got stuck just once, but had to rock out of several other areas. Here's some of the better pics, with a slideshow of the rest: http://s387.photobucket.com/albums/oo319/ericget/Custer%20wheelin%20december%2027th%202009/?albumview=slideshow More good times!!!
  18. Installing a winch will be more fun than cleaning up a mouse nest, though!!! Eagerly awaiting pics.
  19. Right, and low cost is part of the reason I went subaru. Now right out of the showroom, my bronco could have handled some decent off-roading...even with the dinky, stock 235/75 R15's!!! Never wheeled it, though.
  20. Welcome aboard! You gonna keep it stock, or lift it?
  21. Still can't afford the parts, but at least I now know they're available. The owner wants $60 for the pump and lines alone, is that reasonable? I may just get them and run it full-duty for now, as the steering sensor prob won't work on my existing column, and I'd have to do some serious "landscaping" to even get to the rear quarter panel for the speed sensor. It didn't appear to be inside the trunk. On another note, would it be possible to use a switch with multiple settings and resistors, like the heater fan, to control the pump duty's? That would get annoying in traffic, but it could always just be left on one of the mid-settings. Thanks for all the help, 'specially Gary! P.S: This is a VERY complete XT6, and anyone needing parts can get them from me for just a little labor $. The owners prices are so-so, but just pm me and I'll get you a price. Patience required!!!
  22. It takes a lot of work and mods to make a subaru capable off-road. Less so with the forester, but I'd say MOST stock 4x's are "better" just with ground clearance alone. Now the hummers are as heavy as a tank, and not nimble enough to go where we can, but at least they won't high-center in a pot hole. Don't get me wrong...my car is fun as heck off-road, (not so much on-road!) but it took a lot to get there. That said, and to get back on topic: How was the run? Pics didn't show much of any obstacles, really.
  23. NO Damage!?! Glad you guys had a good time; can't wait to get back myself.
