  1. cool video! I wish that there were more of those still around! How many of you guys on here have a 360?
  2. I would look on ebay I believe I have seen some KYB replacements that fit the Gen 1 brats. Not positive though but worth searching for
  3. Yes I believe the voltage regulator is in the alternator.
  4. I dropped the tranny when I changed my clutch but honestly it probably is easier to pull the motor.
  5. Yeah we actually tried to get him to fix it in place but he wasn't comfortable doing it.
  6. Yeah we have just a "few" of those floatin around up here!
  7. Yeah I bought a 2WD Loyale sedan one time. The PO was called Cracky (I wonder why?) But anyways he had a flat and in a drug induced coma he only tightened the lug nuts by hand. of course a little ways down the road, the tire came off and of course ground off the ball joint nut. Well he waited till the next day and went back and put the tire on again. He wasn't Bright enough to look at the ball joint. So he drove a couple miles down the road and the ball joint popped out of the control arm and there he was again on the side of the road! I bought it for 100 and all it needed was a new ball joint and new radias rod.
  8. well good luck!!! It wouldn't hurt to try removing the thermostat ans seeing what it does with out it.
  9. looks like a pot buoy to me
  10. Well hopefully you guys figure it out!! Still don't get rid of the car, obviously it's something wrong with the motor or the supporting systems but the car is still a solid rust free car with a lot of cool stuff!!! So don't give up on it!!! Keep us updated!
  11. It probably took me a total of 3-4 hours but a lot of that was trial and error and because I wanted it to look like "it was supposed to be there." Yes when you pull the 4WD lever, all it does is put it in 4WD. The new shifter is for putting it from Hi to Lo. You can shift it into Lo even when you are in 2WD! The 4WD engages the same as it did before, no difference at all. I'm really looking forward to using it on the road!
  12. The swap is very straight forward when you already have a 5SPD EA82 car so just put a D/R in! You will love it. And if you plan on using it offroad it all don't even second guess it!
  13. Yeah I can spin my tires in Hi if I need to but it's the fact that it's a lot easier on equipment if I can take off in 2WD Lo. The clutch takes a lot of abuse from big tires even if you drive it right. So I thought this was the way to go!!
  14. Lookin' good! Almost done now!!!! I guess I'm not familiar with "clocking" the torsion bar. How do you do that? But anyways Its lookin' good, it definitely reminds me of my build process! Keep us updated!!!
  15. Sweet! Are you still selling the car?
  16. Hmmm, I guess we just got lucky, I have a friend with a 1980 Gen 2 Wagon that he had the 15" spares on and he really betas the hell out of his cars. I've seen that car do things that I never believed a Subaru could do and he only dented the bead a couple times...easy fix...never bent any though
  17. If I was still driving an EA82 car then I wouldn't care but I have had cv axle after cv axle blow on my Brat. And not because of the lift...it did the same exact thing when it was stock. These things are really junk and unless you spend money on the MWE axles all you can get is reman junk! They do alright if as long as you aren't turning and getting on it at the same time. I have had many blow up when doing a burnout. Take off from a friends house and as soon as it gets too much traction...BOOM, the inner joint/cup just blows up! So I've learned to just not to burnout!
  18. Yeah I bet! I'm a little nervous about doing to many burn outs though because of the cheap junk reman axles!!! I would love it if I could get some decent axles. I know MWE is the way to go but money is the problem there!:-\
  19. Yeah exactly and that's what I've been doing but when you have to turn on a hill or something it really sucks....ya know the whole drive line bind thing. I can think of a couple hills right now that I have to use Lo range on and they involve turning and I can't wait to try this out on those situations!
  20. It makes it so that you can have not only Hi range 2WD but you can also have Lo range 2WD. It works really well when you have big tires and you drive on road a lot. Think about how hard it is to take off on a hill in 2WD. Then think about how bad it feels when you use Lo range 4WD on tar. So the solution is to disconnect the rod that engages Lo range and run a new shifter for Hi/Lo range! And your stock 4WD shifter is only used for 2WD/4WD.
  21. That's cool well it definitely worked out in your favor! Yeah I'd like to find some doors as well, mine are getting a little rusty on the bottoms. But finding doors for a Brat/Hatch around here is pretty impossible:-\ And all those dents on the body are just made so you can fit down the trails better!
  22. Yes I have and some of my friends have used them actually mounted used outback tires on them. They worked great for us but many will tell you that they really aren't meant for on road use. I personally used the spares from a 2Wd which are 14" and I beat the crap out of them for at least 3 years and then I sold the car. They never failed me in any way. I put some dents in them but you would have dented normal rims the way I treated them! But again they are not supposed to be used on the road.
