Rockin New Kicks
Yeah I hear ya there! I would sell mine, but don't want to give up all the custom parts and extras I have, so I guess I will keep it till it rots away and then swap everything into another car

Rockin New Kicks
Sweet! So no lift? I just figured you would because you did on your Brat. But nice wagon anyway. Eventually I will come get me a nice rust free car!!

Sweet! I have a set on my 89 GL. I paid the same amount. I love how they set out wide. So what are your plans for the wagon anyway?

benchpressing 250 pound transmission at 2 in the morning...
bratman18 replied to shortskoolbus's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAll you do with the A/C is unbolt the pump and move the whole assembly to the side. No need to disconnect any of the fittings etc.

Mickey mouse gasket
They said it would ship the next day after they received the payment, which will probably be the next business day. And I actually had it shipped first class mail, so it will take a few days. But yeah, not bad at all, I thought. I have dealt with the minimum shipping charges before, they suck! And unfortunately sometimes you have no choice because you need the parts!

Mickey mouse gasket
I just ordered the oil pump gasket set from rock auto and the shipping wasn't that bad. But it also doesn't weigh anything. It was about 8 bucks and change with shipping.

Mickey mouse gasket
Sweet thank you. I will be ordering immediately.

Mickey mouse gasket
Got another question for ya! How does Rockauto ship? Do they use USPS or UPS/FedEx? I searched on the site and couldn't find an answer. Thanks

Mickey mouse gasket
So I was curious where you guys got oil pump seals and gaskets for EA81 and EA82 motors? I have had a hard time finding them and the last time I had to get one from the dealer which was a serious pain. So does anyone know who else has them or sells them or, does anyone have a set they would let go? Thanks in advance. -Jason

Full Impreza suspension/axle swap to 85' brat.
GD, I think he is planning on a custom setup where he plans on bolting up the whole drivetrain from the legacy/Impreza to the Brat body. Which will entail some custom brackets and what not

bratman18 replied to shortskoolbus's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI too have done it a few times, but I did it on a lift, it was much easier but that thing is still VERY heavy!! Good luck, hopefully you got it!!

Gas mileage: AWD mode Vs. Front wheel drive mode
Well there won't be a huge difference in gas mileage, but when your Brat is in 4WD it is not AWD! It will not drive well at all on tar and will make things wear very quickly, so that's not really an option you have, unless you somehow swap in a different tranny that is actually all wheel drive and not four wheel drive

Carlise May 15-17th the East Coast Meet
So, what happened? Did someone cause trouble or are the people that run the event causing trouble? Sounds like Volvos were involved:lol: Anyways, I would love to meet up with you people at some time in the future and if it means not going to Carlisle, than so be it. But it would be cool to know what happened.

89 gl 4x4 with low range 4 to 5 spd swap
There is lots of info on here about this, try using the search function. But no the driveshafts are not the same, you will need the driveshaft from the donor car with the 5 spd. Then you will need to make a center bearing mount for that driveshaft. Also the tranny crossmember as well, then you'll need to combine the two tranny crossmembers to make one that will fit the 5 spd tranny onto the car. Also, you'll need to change the shift linkage. Show us some pics of your car!!
