  1. i dont know what i did, but the rx wont start, i think it might be the fuel pump, but i am not sure. the only thing ive done since the last tie it was run was turningit around in the driveway, and fix the hood release. now the car wont start, it cranks and all the accesories and lights work. there arent any dead fuses that i could see.i did notice that with the ignition in the "on" setting, i didnt hear the pump run when i pressed the pedal, at least i think the rx fuel pump used to make a noise when i did that, my impreza does. anyone ever have this happen?? i need to fix this so that i can drive the car when i get it registered. (im hoping tomarrow). i need sugestions on what it may be and possible fixes. gy the way, i just put fresh gas into the car. thanks
  2. not bad at all, now just paint that beast and get a bumper or something on the front. also, need better lighting when you take the pics.
  3. im not sure if the ratios were the same year to year, but in 1986 the gearing for the fwd trannies is as follows 1st=3.636 2nd=1.950 3rd=1.344 4th=0.971 5th=0.783 rev= 3.583 the gearing for the turbo nad 4wd trannies is 1st=3.545 2nd=1.947 3rd=1.366 4th=0.972 5th=0.780 rev=3.416 high is 1:1 and low is 1.196 in the turbo models and 1.592 in the rest.
  4. i had a very simular thing happen on my rx, i traced it to the hill holder. my hh wasnt connected, so that if anyone touched the valve on it, it would lock up the front right brake untill i went in there and turned it.
  5. dude, i wouldnt pay that much for tires with suck a low rating on em, look at the customer reviews.
  6. i think this might be a cool set up, besides, there isnt anything wrong with the ea82, well othere than a lack of hp, but that can be fixed
  7. the gt series is an ok set of games, but the whole "plastic car" deal annoys me to no end, if i hit a wall doin a buck 20, i expect to total the car and have the front bumper resting firmly in the back seat. if you hit another car doing the same speed going the wrong way on the track, you should be able to destroy both cars, easy.
  8. i know that there is a xt turbo in the game tokyo extreme 3, its a bit slow though. lol
  9. vvvrrrrooommmmmm, dangit. ill be stomping you when im done, . i just need to find a way to finish the car. my car will beat all when i finish it, its just going to take a litle while.i have almost all the parts i need, i just need to find a few more little things. next few parts will include ignition coil, injectors(i hope), lightend pulleys, maybe some better cams. lighten the car a bit more, roll the fenders out a bit to tuck the tires i have, lower the car a bit. hmmmm, there a few more things i need to get and do with the car, but soon, it will be the greatest.
  10. welcome to the board, you are lucky to have a brat
  11. i dislike the sony audio products, they arent know for longevity. i have all pioneer in my impreza, and am thinking about getting some boston acustic 5 1/2" subs to add to the mix. the best bet for finding car audio for a good price is to check the pawn shop. i got a $900 pioneer head unit and a pioneer disk changer for $500.
  12. i love my rx and my 2.5RS. i still am trying to get my rx on the road and drive the impreza everyday. its even hard getting respect with the rs, let alone the rx. the owner of a performance shop cringes averytime i walk in the door, he knows what i need will be either very difficult to find or just a pita to make. its even hard to get parts for the impreza, unless i need wrx parts.
  13. by the way, my car is a 1986 rx.
  14. there is a pap here, but they like to give you random pricing on parts. i wnt to get a spider manifold and was tol that it would only be $50, i get ti the checkout and was told that a completly stripped manifold was going to be 60 and that i had $40 worth of "accessories" on the manifold. some people are dumb.
  15. the lever has to be pulled back a little bit to turn off the high beams. i think that it is the switch, but i dont know if ill be able to get a replacement.
  16. i am having a very simular problem with my rx, you have to hold the lever to keep the low beams on. it is a problem for me cause i need to get the car registered.
  17. i wish i had the money and space to collect old subies. even if i had the money and space, id still have to deal with my mom yelling about bringing home "junk" and "other people's trash". it get annoying after a while, even just trying to swap parts from one manifold to another, she if flipping out about the fact that i have parts in the floor of my bedroom.
  18. ive just seen what it can do in an accident or if used wrong you hit a speed bumb and it could go kaboom, you hit the button an extra shot and the engine could go kaboom. too much risk for my liking, ill stick to taking my chances with the trees in the gravel roads here.
  19. nitro is for loosers that use it as an excuse for bad tuning decisions. the only accepable reason to use it is when you have done everything possible to your engine and car to get hp and cant do anything else but nitrous. and its also a good way to destroy that engine that youve worked so hard on.
  20. nope, just read through th owners manual, says nothing about not driving in 4wd hi, the only words of caution about 4wd is that to go from 4wd hi to 4wd lo, you need to be driving slow and use the clutch, also that your gas milage will suffer from 4wd lo. i was reading the fsm today i class and found out that both the front and rear diffs have the exact gear ratios, thus driveline windup isnt an issue here. go me.
  21. wjm, i dont think they will let you drive the sti cause you will prolly just raise the bar for the rest of us. i love the idea of a shoot off, but as in the case of the east caost, its the east coast. when i am done ill be posting numbers and results from the "ghetto sti". it should kcik some mighty something or other. now i just need money to finish it.
  22. mine is an 86, d/r 5spd. the service manual doesnt say anything about driving in 4wd, nor does the fsm. the only warning is about the lsd in a situation where one wheel is spinning in mud or snow. neither b ook mentioned that driving in 4wd hi would cause any damage.
  23. you should come over to the states some time. pretty sure youd get a warm welcome from the suby crowd here. i want twin turbos, i was thinking about doing that on my impreza when i get the legacy turbo block, i think that i could come up with a sick design for it, although, emmissions and inspection would be fun, good thing i dont have an annual inspection, just by annual emmisions testing.
  24. i want a front lsd. on the note of 4wd, i just go outta manual transmissions class, the lessons on transfercases and diffs were based around trucks, the suby is the oddball in the world of 4wd and awd. but with trucks, 2wd is usually the rear wheels and when you put it into 4wd, the front engage, but the fronts have a lower gear ratio. more to the point, on the rx is it safe to drive on the streets in 4wd in the rx?
