I got to see the new 2010 Legacy up close and personal Wednesday evening. In person the front and back of the Legacy look great! The interior is very nice. The side? The slab of wheel wells make the 18 inch wheels get lost in there. The wheel wells look like a 1966 Olds Toronado. It looks way odd. The Outback can't be told from the Tribecaa that was parked next to it. It is also unbelievably tall. I am 5' 8 and it was just taller than me! Think real jacked up SUV looking, crossed with a mini van! In short I might buy a sedan but since it is not a wagon it does not have enough room for 4 adults and camping gear. The Outback? It looks tall enough to flip it in High Speed Autocross. Judging from the Subs from the last few years they have been infected by the ownership stake of GM a few years back. Think lack of gauges, chrome slathered on with a trowel and just bigger with no personality.

When the flat bed from the trans shop came by to pick up our 98 GT wagon, the driver miss judged the clearance while pulling the car up. It got stuck in a tree. There were a few scratches and one broken limb on the tree. Has anyone else had their Subaru stuck in a tree?

I was given a Subaru Legacy by the auto rental place during a bad snow storm that closed the airport. The AWD handling in the bad weather was amazing and I had to have one. So soon after we bought our 98 Legacy GT wagon which we still have. The handling is amazing and it gets a few HSAX sessions per year at the track. The reliability is not at Toyota levels with HG and electrical problems etc but is isn't bad. I would like to buy a new Legacy wagon but they are not available in the US.

The current Legacy is built on the Tribeca platform. It is exactly the same and are built on the same assembly line in Indiana. I am still waiting for a Legacy wagon that is not an Outback. You know like the rest of the world and Canada can buy. -
The symptoms you describe are called Ford disease when it happens to a Ford. It takes a while for the trans to engage for the first time in the morning. The seals in the trans get stiff and fluid leaks past them. Thus the pressure never gets where it needs to be. The additives cause the seals to swell and well.....seal. It could last for a long timer like that but eventually the trans may need to be rebuilt. Good luck!

I just saw in the Subaru newsletter that for 2009 there will be red and green Legacys available. Not just all those shades of gray which could be easily lost in a parking lot. Now if I could just have a real wagon and not an Outback. You know a car like the rest of the world can have. That silly Outback cladding is like going to work in a clown costume. You just can't take it seriously.

Unfortunately the free market is not always the best solution. It is only best for some economically. We have caused animals to go extinct, made the sea a lifeless cesspool, wiped out entire forests and caused pollution that will not go away for centuries. Oh. And heated up our planet. We will use a resource whether it be food, minerals, animals and plants until they are gone and then move on to something else after destroying everything that got in the way of exploiting it.. The technology is already here. We just have to stop waste and use energy sources other than oil and coal. It just takes a little planning that the free market will not do for us
