  1. Stellar, Thanks for the info. I wish I didn't have to wait another 5 hours to get off work and head home to get this wiring finished. Tomorrows project is to get the wiring finished, and then get the hubs done. pictures will be included in the hub conversion.
  2. 1985 Brat. PO had a dash mat which I am sure helped a lot.
  3. I really should have started on this right after work instead of playing on the internet. Here is my current list of wires to be figured out. Starter Switch clip B56 pin 10. Neutral Switch clip B58 pin 10. Read Memory Connector clip B56 pin 12. And finally back up power supply B48 pin 15. That is all I need before i try to start it. for some reason I have an intense fear of somehow burning up my ECU.
  4. did you ever get all your wiring figured out for your swap? I am getting close on mine, just trying to figure out where the ECU starter switch, neutral switch, and read memory control wires go...

  5. That looks fun, bring that by sometime and we can come up with some orem ghetto style fix!
  6. So I am down to just a few wires. 1 being the starter switch wire. Am i just dumb and this get hooked up onto the starter? It is on B56 pin 10. What do i do with that little wire? And still my conundrum of the alternator wires.
  7. I haven't been able to find anything about what tires/wheels people are running with their lifts or no lift at all. Thus being the case, I want to know. What tires/wheels are people running with how much lift? I'm currently stock with some toyota 4runner 15x7 wheels sitting in the wings till the next paycheck comes in. Thinking of running General Grabber AT2's in a 205/75R15. What do you all got?
  8. Up in bellingham? If he's doing northshore riding then its likely his bike isn't the most pedal friendly. My old bike (specialized big hit setup for downhill) weighed in at 45lbs and couldn't pedal up stuff worth a darn.
  9. I have a little draw up in my email from one eye on how to do strut spacer lifts (body lift?) for just 2 inches. I was also under the impression that if you just push the struts down you don't have to adjust steering what with the front x member not moving at all. Granted it is best to do an overall lift of spacing the x member and strut so as to not wear on CV axles. I myself am planning a 2" lift for my brat in the next week or so.
  10. Let me get this worded different. Fill a void in the quarter panels with the foam, (like expanding foam you use on houses and buy at home depot?) then sand it down to match curves or whatever when it dries, and then bondo over that? meh, sounds good to me but might wait for some of those with higher knowledge to pipe in.
  11. So new question here. These are my wheels I plan on using. (don't worry, i will clean them first) I am wondering if there will be problems with the thickness of the wheels and the size of the hole as seen here... currently I have these lugnuts with the chamfered edges ... and im wondering if i need to try and find toyota style lugnuts that part of them goes inside the wheel before seating like thus... If it so be that I need to use said toyota style lugnuts, Hopefully I can find some that thread onto my existing studs so i don't have to get all new lugs to match thread pitch
  12. Zstalker, what are you doing tonight? MY goal is to have this thing running and back on wheels in time for a little bonfire thursday night. That means tonight is going to be a fun night of trying to get everything finished. Just the tedious wiring now... (oh... and the fact I have my front hubs off with two studs pounded out, and I need to extend my 4wd stick to accept the stock brat 4wd lever)
  13. Alright mostly wired up. GD's write up helped a lot. Getting the colors together and whatnot. Now my current question is this. Alternator wires... I have the EJ22 harness hooked up obviously to its alternator, but what about the wires from the EA81 harness? Do I splice those in? leave them alone? cut them out and bend them into stylish shaped wire art? Also, for running the ECU from the EJ22, Numbchux writeup said I can just put one wire going to the battery. Which one is it supposed to be? The pinout has "control unit power supply" B48 pin #2 and #13 then back up on pin #15. Should I splice #2 and #13 together and run that to the battery? Im so close to getting this thing finished, hopefully get it running tomorrow and start putting everything back together inside.
  14. Hmmm... what tires are those? They look nice and meaty. I'm in the decision phase of that right now.
  15. My buddy is hitting the junkyard in the morning and hes going to try and snag me a pitch stopper and bracket. AS for the wiring, I finally got my relays sorted out and started doing a bit of that, The thing that worries me the most is trying to get the dash wired properly. Any info someone can give me on wire colors and how to find out which wires from the brats dash go to what would be stellar right now. Today I finally got all the fuel lines and heater hoses hooked up. Took a bit to figure it but it SHOULD be hooked up properly. After getting that taken care of I got some tools picked up and put away trying to make the garage seem a little less crowded. Then I set in the brat with papers of wiring diagrams and started to chase wires around finding a few that I cut that I wasn't supposed to (daniel, what yellow wire are you referring to? Because i somehow decided a month ago to cut the main yellow wire going from the main/ignition relay from the 2.2 car and had to run a new wire there.) Hopefully tomorrow after work I can get stuff moving faster and possibly get this sucker running by tomorrow late night or wednesday afternoon!!! Cross your fingers everyone!
  16. Can we get a slow clap going just because that is so epic?
  17. Todays work finished up my ghetto style radiator hoses, and an attempt at getting my fuel lines hooked up, it seems that by about 2pm my brain just kinda starts to shut down and some of the simpler things don;t make any sense. That made my daily attempt at getting something accomplished with the wiring was useless. I am REALLY struggling with this wiring thing. Pretty sure I cut out a lot of stuff I probably needed, but for all I know I just need to hook up 3 more wires and I'm golden. Either way it confuses me greatly. I also realized today that I have nowhere to mount a pitch stopper. It seems the car I got the trans out of had it hook up on the engine, and the car i got the engine out of, had it hook up on the trans. Hmmmm... that means I won't be able to go to the junkyard to find one until friday... Any suggestions from anyone on this?
  18. Anybody want to come do the wiring on my car? I will pay you $100... There is a reason I failed my electrical engineering section test in basic engineering...
  19. Apparently they "ran out of money" on the cash for clunkers program today. thats the word i got from a dealership in the area, pretty popular I suppose.
  20. It was a good day on the brat. Got my hoses made at EVCO, got a 10" reversible aftermarket radiator fan from the junkyard that clips to the radiator itself, and my steering linkage all for $15. Here is the pics and info on the power steering system I went with. Part list: 1 - 16MMBT-6MJ Bump Tube Adapter 1 - 10BS Metric Bite Sleeve 1 - 6G-10MDL Male DIN Light M16x1.5 1 - 6G-6FJX Female JIC Flare Swivel 1 - 6G-5MFA Male Flareless 3.5 ft - 6MGT Megatech 1000 (cool looking fabric coated cable*) 3.5 ft - 6M2T Hydraulic hose 100R16 4000 PSI Total cost was $90.79 Old stuff... fittings were cannibalized due to lack of metric fittings available to me. Word to the wise, evco is lacking in the metric division. luckily I had all this so I was able to get the proper equipment. Look at how pretty and clean it looks in comparison! The metal tube end is a reused fitting, I don't remember the size exact, but I know it was a 17mm nut and is on the return line of the power steering as seen in the pic of the two hoses. This is the other fittings. Taken from the high pressure side of the system, 14mm. There is only a fitting on the high pressure side because the return just clamps on. Hence the difference in hose type, The cool looking fabric one can me clamped on, while the rubber less cool looking one is better for the pressure. Here is the new fittings in place at the steering rack. Instead of going down under the engine I went up over the top, underneath the throttle body above my adapter plate. Leaving me plenty of space to bolt up the headers. The hoses hooked up the the PS pump. An overall view of things. I think an extra half foot would have been nice, but it worked none the less. Enjoy the views, let me know if you have any questions.
  21. I found a few on amazon but I was hoping to find something local so I didn't need to wait for shipping. They are the 35/64 size and there are a few around 10 bucks. Searching for 14mm I only found 2 and they were 14mm all the way down so they wouldn't fit 1/2 chucks like I have.
  22. Undid it and they didn't have much room. It also kinda scarred me having the lines THAT close to the exhaust. However!!!... The new power steering lines are made installed and the headers are bolted up also!!! Much thanks to the guys at EVCO for their help in making this system. Pictures will be posted of the assembly as well as part numbers for anyone interested. Total cost was $90 but it is clean and I am very happy with it.
  23. Talked to EVCO today and they said they can make lines for me with the proper fittings. Gonna take everything in to them tomorrow after another visit to the junkyard for other steering stuff. I will make sure to take lots of pics of the hoses for those who want the info.
  24. Looks sweet! I am tossing around the idea of making my own lift (just like 2-3") but don't know what degrees of camber etc etc etc. probably should focus on getting my swap finished.
  25. ok so here is where my exhaust is in comparison to my power steering lines. So I am thinking I can get the proper fittings put onto proper soft lines long enough to reach the power steering pump. Any thoughts?
