There have been a few of these posts... But to be more helpful, I'm getting a 2" lift made this week and have some extra metal. If you want I can have some made for you also. Very simple setup, blocks in the front with holes drilled 3/4" difference (20* offset for camber correction) at least I think it was 3/4, I don't have my cad drawings in front of me right now. Im going to get the rear brackets figured out sometime soon.
  2. Ok so now that my brat's engine swap is done (enough to use as a daily driver at least) I can work on the boss' car. 1998 Impreza OBS, For a while the CEL has come and gone randomly. It has been checked and always comes back saying my cat is bad and knock sensor is bad. I have yet to do anything to fix either because the CEL would turn off for awhile before randomly turning back on. I am assuming the best course of action is to replace the knock sensor (I really don't want to spend $80 on something so small) and see if that fixes the CEL as well as my other problem. That other problem being the OBS is gutless on hills now. I used to be able to cruise up hills on the freeway doing 80 the whole way, now when I am in 5th and hit an incline I bog down REAL fast and have to downshift to prevent semi's from passing me Think maybe the new knock sensor will somehow help that? Or possibly are my cat's clogged and I just need to pull them off and hollow them out? (I don;t have to do emissions because of where this car is registered ) This is my wifes daily driver and our roud trip car and getting anywhere fun in utah requires driving up hills. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

That's what I'm made of! Wait, or is it thats what I'm lacking...? One of the other. Cool idea on the hubs, It's always exciting to see the gears turning on ideas around here (get it? gears turning. geared hub thread, I need to go to bed...)
  4. Sorry for no replies on the thread. I was vacationing in Zion Nat'l Park for my 2 year anniversary. So I have the fans hooked up just as they were before pretty much. The sensor in the radiator is still hooked up right, I guess the car is staying cool enough. The only real driving it gets is about 1 mile to work and back round trip, and my random 40 miles on the freeway to get my emissions ticket (required for an engine swap). I guess driving on the freeway had enough air flow to keep it cool. I haven't wired up the water temp gauge because I don't know what wire its supposed to go to I know, should have done it before but I was REALLY running out of time. If anyone knows of what wire the water temp gauge is on EA81's I would really like to know. Hopefully Safety test gets done... wednesday maybe? Install the swaybar for the test and a "new" axle that I got from Martimus along with the sway bar clamps. Just using them to get through safety then the bar is coming back off. Anywho, once its registered, looks for some dirt pics
  5. IT PASSED EMISSIONS !!!!! I had to take it to the state emissions office and have them give me a certificate to allow for the engine swap and whatnot because obviously its not going to be the same as a carb'd EA81. Also it toks its first real trip on the freeway, held 75 just fine with power to pass other cars. I am slightly concerned with my fans not turning on. I think I might just make a switch directly to the battery to turn the fans on and off when I want.
  6. On my brat I just used the donor car exhaust. At least until about 2 feet past the last cat, then I started clamping and welding bends from autozone to get it up into the muffler place. Someday when I have money I will get a good exhaust system made.
  7. Finally am using the brat for daily driving!! It made it to work this morning just fine with only one slight problem. When I turn sharp it feels like the car automatically applies brakes... Slightly odd and confusing. I just recently rebuilt one caliper and bled all the brakes so I don't know what could cause this other than maybe axle problems. Any ideas?
  8. I have two 10 inch versions of those fans and they push A LOT more air than the stock fans. I got one of mine on ebay for $25 shipped, and the other one for $5 at a junkyard You can reverse the blades so it will push or pull air for your needs. Very easy to install as well.
  9. I got a set of the washer and conical washer in my garage. I also am pretty sure my local junkyard has lots to be taken that I can go snag on the weekends.
  10. I dunno if ninefourteener got it finished, I did find out that the thread pitch for the toyota these wheels cam from is 12x1.5. So I would either have to get all new studs or I found some the seat properly from autozone. Hopefully I can find some money to get new tires since all I have right now is 15" wheels, no rubber.
  11. Here are the little exhaust dealios that insert into the gap. and then the oil filler tube, (the cap is somewhere in the bed of the brat I know. I don't know a price for these things. Hopefully they could all fit in a priority box. how bout $20 for everything plus whatever shipping is?
  12. I got a bunch of EA81 stuff including some exhaust stuff. I still have the headers and bolts and motor mounts. Let me know if you want them.
  13. So im just working on random stuff here and there to get it daily driveable. I did pick up some BFG snow tires for the front for $20 for the pair. I just made a new grill to see how I like it. got some free steel mesh and will paint it later to looke better but I wanted some opinions. just imagine it painted red, or black. Because eventually the car will be black with a red strip down each side.
  14. If in case the thermite becomes option A, please take pictures and videos
  15. give me a call this weekend and I can help you out. i got a few diagrams and stuff for when I make my 2" lift also. We can experiment with yours and then do mine
  16. The shaft having a slight in and out play is normal but if the cups can slide away from the trans that on the other hand isn't. I concur with the check the roll pins, they can be little buggers to get in sometimes.
  17. I am thinking rounding out the corners will make it fit better. I haven't taken measurements inside the strut tower to see how small it has to be yet.
  18. I am for sure a poor boy. I have been trying to keep my project as cheap as possible. I'd be interested in seeing some pics of the trimmed fenders.
  19. I was told by oneeye that the angle for brats is 22*? If 15 is the magic degree then I will have to make a slight adjustment of my design.
  20. Thanks. It's just google sketchup. Not a bad program to basic sketching and 3d design, but I prefer autodesk inventor. SOOOO much more you can do and a much more efficient program. But I digress. Hopefully the blocks get put together soon and work as I am picturing them in my head.
  21. Sorry for the late reply. The motor had 202K miles on it when I pulled it. As for price... 1. How do I ship such an item? (would you want me to remove random items such as intake manifold, etc to try and cut down on weight and size) 2. whats your best offer? I am not looking to make money on this since I would only get like 10 bucks at a recycling yard.
  22. Here is a quick drawing I did. For my brat I was told a 22* in-set was needed which for 2" block turns out to be a 11/16" move inward. The blocks on each bolt are easier to make obviously, but I didn't like the idea of the top hat balanced on two blocks. this design, the top hat goes into the hole, and then it has pressure all around it, not just in two places. It is VERY similar to SJR's design and others but its square because I happen to have a good supply of square tubing. Opinions and criticism are always welcome
  23. Looks like I can finally add myself to the who's who of EJ swapping! Board Member: gwilson87 Engine: 92 EJ22 Chassis: 1985 Brat Tranny: 5 speed, D/r from loyale. Other: Currently designing a simple 2" lift and ordering the 215/75R15 tires to go on my toyota 4runner wheels. Nothing more than the Y pipe on it right now. will have both cats from the Legacy donor and a straight through muffler for inspection purposes.
  24. not gonna lie, that looks pretty sweet as it is. Minus the fact the rear tires are a tad smaller... how do those 215's fit as far as turning? I am working on a simple 2 inch lift before I buy some tires and I'm a bit worried about the rubbing when turning possibility.
