I had trouble putting the 5 speed 4WD linkage into my Brat, but after goig with Jerry's kit, it worked marvelously. I recommend his kit for sure.

Which AWD tranny are you going with? How about fitment of the struts into the ea81 tower?

yeah do you hate me or what? I just need to get those parts ordered before next thursday. Give me a call. -
its time to get a meet/wrenchfest at my place and discuss our planbs for the show and everything. I plan on having a guest as well in town that weekend, someone who I think everyone will want to chat with and hang out with. July 25th and 26th, with a BBQ and all that fun stuff too.

EA81 4spd to EA82 5spd swap roll call...
Jibs replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, I was like "What Brian's helping me put a tranny in my car what?" SWEET! Yeah I just drilled a hole, used a spacer, and found a bolt. easy enough. The onlt things to watch for when getting a kit from Jerry - make sure the shift linkages you send him are from an 83+. Apparently they're different than an 82. And make sure you have the flywheel from an 83+ as well, its bigger than an 82's. -
Yeah sorry guys, I ended up working on the cars this weekend, trying to get one ready for the show as well as a DD. I would like to meet up, so just let me know or just show up sometime.

wasn't ther an xt6 messageboard a while back? I can't seem to find anything using google. thanks.
-
I wouldn't say it was. Lifted subaru safe - yes, but not for stockers, there were a few spots that unnerved me in the scout. But that sounds fun. I'll look at a few maps tonite and see what's cool out there.
-
Ok yes that is the plan then. Where do we want to go? I'm up for anything anywhere.
-
Which 5 speed are you going to use? A 5 speed from any ea82 car will bolt in (minus the tranny x-member) without having to get custom axles. If you are going to swap in a legacy AWD tranny, then I think you have to get custom axles.
-
I was always under the impression that onn ANY BLM property you are able to have campfires and that only on NFS (Forest service) land are you required to have a permit for a fire.
-
This is all going into the USRM right? Nice build mick. maybe I should abandon the scout and swap it all into one of the bazillion brats I have.
-
Yeah at this point, I might have to take the scout. I was thinking of going somewhere down by you greenley, maybe south of gardnerville, then Brian wouldn't have too far to go. But any suggestions are helpful too, I just want to camp.
-
When getting custom axles made, how much of a factor is in balancing the shafts? Would it wear the seals and things a lot faster if the axle shaft was unbalanced?
-
Is there any difference/advantage in using legacy struts in place of impreza struts in the front?
-
Yup stocker friendly. I don't need to be going anywhere crazy right now.
-
Who wants to go camping? I want to. Lets set something up before the show. Maybe a wrenchfest, but I'm thinking more of a camping trip somewhere. What do you say? maybe 2 weekends from now?

Jibs replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I asked for Friday, the 28th off, and Monday, Tuesday, and wednesday, the 31st, 1st, and 2nd of september off. That should give me time to get up there and back. -

To sound like a broken record, I am in the same boat. I am working on getting the brat running well enough to get me up there and back. I have incentive as well, my sister wants to go up this year. My plan is this: Leave Thursday after work around 5 or so, drive as far as I can that night, then the rest of the way friday. Stay at the show and leave sunday afternoon, and head back, spend 2 or 3 days coming back and by the time I am tired of being on the road, I'll be home. -
I want know how to clean some parts. I've never done it. I have a engine x-member that has 20+ years of grease and grime on it and I want it to look like new. What do I do? I don't have a pressure washer or a parts washer, but that'd be nice I'm sure.
-
Yeah is it me or is it getting late this year? I need to request time off and the such if I'm going to make it.

In for sunday
