Its an 03 outback 94k miles, shimmies around 68 mph and goes away around 75, So i had a shop check it out, they put a steering rack, and power steering pump as it had metal flakes in it, and inner tie rods on it. Then they aligned it. They said they got it up to 80 no shimmy. I get it back go up to 68 and it still shimmies while cruising. Not under heavy accel, probably why the shop didn't catch it. Ive had my tires balanced twice, still there, tried anther set off wheels, and still shimmies. So what else am i looking at to get this fixed?

Yes the front differential is not overfilled, it shows right below the top notch on the dip stick. nor is the trans atf portion, my guess is the rubber seal you are talking about, maybe i could get one from the dealer? After another look around where the speedo cable screws into the front differential there is gear oil around that too, ill have to look around for the seal, if not ill try the rtv

93 legacy So last summer driving home from work, i go over a 9% precent grade. On the was home its down hill for about 9 miles, started smelling burning oil, pulled over checked oil it was nearly empty so towed it home The passenger side cam seal was completely pushed out of the block. So i replaced it and the other side, with new dealer cam seals. Now 6 months later same deal on the long down hill run, but this time the left side. So i think i have to much crank case pressure. I was told it could be the pcv, is that possible? If so where is it located? Also after this long down hill run, i get back on the road, and for about 1 mile it puffs large amounts of blue smoke, witch i believe is valve stem seals, as it never does it other then after the the long down hill coast, both my subarus do this. My ea 81 for about a half mile as the 2.2 does it longer. I can prevent it by coasting in neutral down the hill but that puts alot of strain on my brakes. So does this mean when coasting down hill, there is more back pressure on the motor, making crank case pressure increase?

Bogging Down on Freeway Hills

My ea 81 i drive a 15 mile up hill at 8 percent grade that starts at 5000 feet and tops at 7500 feet, i just have to keep it in 3rd pegged and its goes 68mph, fourth gear is just no go at the 8 percent grade at the altitude, car thrives on it i think. But you may have a problem but mine will bog down and not really recover, unless i keep it in 3rd and rev it to death. -
Ive used dei products, ie viper clifford python....., ive had no issues with them, but i did install them myself, with a lot of work involved, and are not plug and play, ive never had them turn on with out the button being pressed, but it can happen when its in your pocket, so when there in the garage, i turn the toggle switch off, so it cant start. But i dont park in garages often so not a biggie, but it is a very big concern. Other then that they do work great in the winter.
