  1. The EA-81 will fit perfectly in the engine bay. It won't have any issues with the hood closing or anything. The EA-82 is far too wide, and will result in a lot of cutting.
  2. Regular 'ol RWD bugs with a lotta power are pretty damn fun!
  3. Well, if you plan on being at high levels of boost for an extended time, then I would look seriously at oil cooling and maybe egt. the stock bottom end is still very rugged.
  4. 4700 isn't a lot for these engines. Part of me says don't worry about the bottom end. The other part of me suggests shot-peening the rods, and upgrading or at least replacing the rod bolts. Synthetic oil wouldn't be a bad idea. Keeping an eye on oil temp wouldn't be bad, either. An oil cooler might be a good idea. Nah, screw all that. 4700 is nothing for thee engines.
  5. The weber 32/36 is probably your best choice. I think the guy you talked to may have been pulling your chain. These also came on ford 2.0-2.3 powered vehicles back in the day. Might wanna check one of these out. They came in electric and water-heated choke variants.
  6. $5 says you smoked it. I say HG or cracked head.
  7. They finally got everything right. They guy opened the seal box, and it was the same one I had returned! But he had recieved the correct one, that store and it's warehouse have some organizational issues. The car is running again. Anyone wanna buy a Loyale?
  8. They are simple, but I don't think there are many jets available. Best bang for the buck is a weber 32/36.
  9. In their defense, they did order the correct parts, but recieved either wrong stock, or things incorrectly packaged.
  10. Haven't posted in a while, thought I'd say hi. My aunt dumped a nice 91 loyale on me, in hopes that I could fix some stuff and sell it for her. I decided that I would install timing belts and put oil seals and a water pump on the front. No problem. Went to Advance, 10 miles away. Got timing belts, front main seal. Had to order cam seals, water pump. They said they would be there in two hours. Cool. Two hours later, they said they had missed the ordering window. The stuff would be there in another two hours. OK. Two hours later, they had oils seals and water pump. Went home. Opened water pump box. Wrong one. Went back, ordered correct water pump, also tried to order oil pump seal kit. They said they couldn't get it. I went back home, and installed one cam seal. Opened the box to the other seal...wrong one. Dammit. Went back, ordered correct seal, talked to someone else, found the oil pump seal kit. What a fricken' pain in the rump roast. Anyway the car is still sitting in the driveway, with the oil pump out, one cam seal installed and the front crank seal installed. I should have been done yesterday.
  11. Welcome. Not too many Floridians posting in here, so we are glad to have you.
  12. As of right now, it's a no-go for me. Moving into a new house and all.
  13. I still might come. Subyrally, this means you.
  14. My old Cj would never have done this... Liberty transfer carnage
  15. You can heat it evenly with a torch, and it may just fall off, or take some light hammering. Putting a new one on is the same way. Heat it up, no need to get it red hot, and it falls right into place.
  16. Change the timing chain now before you have problems with it. I bet you can't blow it up afterward. <---owns a subaru and a Toyota truck
  17. I had to stomp the fender off of it so I could drive it back to the carbola.
  18. I'm keeping the RX. I had to sell off the TWE header, downpipe, and bodykit so I could fix things on my fiancee's house (yeah, I'm getting married, again), and that sucked. But she likes the car, it's pretty reliable, and she can drive it in snow and stuff so she doesn't risk her 2005 Mini Cooper convertible. So the RX is now in 'the other car' status. The third leg. The backup. Backburner. How perfectly horrid.
  19. Not that anyone gives a rat's rump roast, but in the diesel world, removable cylinder sleeves are called 'liners'.
  20. It's not fuel that will hurt them. It's vacuum on the compressor side that is the problem. Engine vacuum will suck oil past the seals.
