1991 Subaru Loyale D/R Swap 3.9 LSD swap SJR 4 inch lift and front bumper KING springs front and rear PACBRAKE onboard air system 27-9.5 super swampers on 14 inch Peugeot steelies Lots of dents, dings and scratches Still a work in progress

I see that the compressed length of these Toyota shocks is 3 inches longer then the compressed of the stock, so is it necessary to run an over sized spring such as the Honda spring with these? Otherwise wouldn't the weight of the rear end rest entirely on the shock and cause it to fail?

In search of an oil pump
Logan K replied to 86TurboWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would buy one from ya if they are still around over there...i got one of the last available ones myself, its going to be real hard to keep these motors going if the pumps are really gone forever. -
Respect for the EA81 and performance mods!

Um...just curious...what kind of cars exactly are you street racing? -

Seems to happen in the 2500-3000 RPM range. More noticeable when car is cold, car bogs down, then starts ripping again. New O2 sensor, MAF works, coolant temp sensor seems to work (runs like poo when i disconnect it. Car is a 1991 loyale. Would the throttle position sensor have something to do with this? What does the throttle position sensor even do? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Value of a New Ea81 Engine
Logan K replied to Naked Buell's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Seems like rebuilt ea81's for sale online are in the 2k range. -
I have had very good luck with the Sachs brand. KYB is the oem supplier for Subaru struts and they ride great too. Just had better luck with the Sachs holding up to offroad use.

I have had good luck with this style of "heavy duty" axle on my WRX. It was an FEQ brand but looks similar (long inner boot). It seemed like it was too short when i first installed it but it has been ok for about 6 months and 10,000 miles now.

Anyone got pics of the SPFI turbo NOS ea81?

I really am more interested in converting to a newer seat
-
How many miles on it? Mine is blue, if it still has some life left in the cushion i would be interested
-
So the seats in my Loyale are worn out, anything longer then a half hour drive and im pretty uncomfortable. I have seen lots of posts of different seats from newer stuff (mid 90's legacy/ouback, wrx, ect). The one downside is these seats always seem to sit significantly higher then the factory setup. As a taller person (6 foot 3 in) I am curious as to what others have done and how much (if any) headroom is compromised.

The problem is with the heat not AC...if there was a freon leak it wouldn't cause the heater to blow below desired temperature. I have worked in the automotive repair industry for 5 years and never seen that. There is not enough Freon stored in the system to have a large leak at the evaporator that would affect temperatures for more then a minute, and once it drained it would be all gone. Passenger side of the dash is where the blower motor is located. You can put your hand on it and feel or hear if it's running or not. If it does not function on all speeds replace the resistor. It is located at the bottom of the blower case and easy to access. Verify your engine reaches operating temperature. If it does not, replace your thermostat. If this still does not resolve your problem flush or replace your heater core. If this STILL does not resolve your problem you may have a stuck blend door under the dash that is preventing airflow, or causing a mix of outside air to enter the system

This car has been in the family forever. My mom bought it new in 1991 and drove it every day till 2011. This was the first car i drove, and always held a sentimental spot to me. When my parents bought a new Outback, i convinced them to let me have the old wagon. Well, it didnt take long for some major changes to happen . I stripped and bedlined the interior, replaced t-belts and water pump and started driving the car every day. I had previously owned lifted EA82 cars and always dreamed of a few more inches of clearance under mums wagon, but first I wanted to ensure that I had the proper hardware to back it up. I sourced and installed a limited slip rear, maxima alternator and a dual range trans. This car became alot of fun on the local forest service roads and the trails behind my house, but was still lacking the clearance I desired. So i got the 4 inch lift from SJR. At the same time, I pulled and resealed the engine and had the heads rebuilt. When the lift was finished I added 27 inch swampers on 14 inch peugeot steelies. On my 3rd time out wheeling, I rolled the rig. I slowly found the body parts I needed to repair the car and other then the dents on the roof you can barely tell I rolled it! I have since installed the SJR front bumper, Rough Country Rock lights, Cobra CB and a PAC-Brake onboard air system in the spare tire area under the hood. This next year I plan to ad an SJR rear bumper w/spare tire holder, winch and front seats that are a little more comfortable. Let me know what you guys think!

New oil pumps are not currently available for EA82. Subaru's supplier quit making the pumps and the parts houses stock is exhausted. I got one of the last available in October of 2015. Beck Arnley makes a complete seal kit, Orileys sells for about 16 bucks

1979 Brat Rear Shock Question
Logan K replied to jakin55's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
What kind of lift? If its anything like the ea81-82 stuff you shouldnt need longer shocks... -
So i bought brand new OEM motor and trans mounts for my wagon (4 inch lift 27 inch tires d/r trans) and they SUCK. Letting off the clutch is harsh, the engine vibrates more at idle and im pretty unhappy. I see alot of different brands on rockauto (for about a fifth of what i payed ) and im just wondering if anyone has any feedback as to which ones are the best quality?
