  1. Dalton, the 225's are excessive for an 18 year old vehicle with a lift kit. They grip like no tomorrow, don't get me wrong, just that 215's would do the job and probably better. I am growing up and slowing down, it is very hard to miss things with almost half a metre of tyres on the road; the flip side is it's also very hard to get a clean line off road (missing stuff also). Getting this vehicle past registration engineers is my quest. It is a mean feat, tough rules to follow but it makes for safer cars on the road....Cough (says ME..the Black Kettle). And... the 225's are deadly slippery on our gravel roads (which are made of little round rocks like bearings) the thing just floats on it, like aquaplaning on a really wet road, needs serious throttle to keep straight. Just trying to get this vehicle perfect, For Me! Best wishes to all Matt
  2. 225/65/15's They are too wide, I am going back to 215's.
  3. How high is it sitting? Higher than stock + 3 inches? Cheers Matt
  4. It's a EJ20, pre 1996 JDM engine.. TD05, Mines Tuned ECU, 2 1/2 " straight through exhaust, a 210kw or 285hp package. It is tuned and happy. ECU's FTW. Winter in Tassie is no time for working outside on cars. Days are too short and its damp and cold after hours. I have less hours to tinker, no time to experiment at all. I need a better shed. I have just put a tank of Ultimate in her, (98 octane @ $1.54 a litre) Its just getting smoother and quieter. The tune is pretty aggressive, boost comes on hard, very hard. My good Lady and I are 7 1/2 months pregnant, care with the throttle is needed. I have a heap of cosmetic stuff to do (flares, grill, tidy up of loom etc), then some runs down the airstrip are in order! Then pictures, and video. Thanks for all the kind words, Matt Oh Groover is SO happy the Ute is back.
  5. I put it away for the night, I will play tomorrow. "Don't take your guns to town son, leave your guns at home Bill." So happy, it idles perfectly @ 450rpm. Has not run for 6 years. happy Matty.
  6. I am feeling an overwhelming sense of bliss and achievement with strands of thanks twisted and soldered all through. The Wonder Brumby II is alive! I have unleashed 210kw of AWD dual range power upon the unsuspecting tarmac of the East Coast of Tassie. Groover lost traction in the tray and slipped uncontrollably towards the tailgate @ exactly 3500 rpm, precisely when I said ohshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitwhooooah. Boost came on, obviously. Lots. I got near ¾ throttle! Summary for the newbs…. Wonder Brumby, 89model, 50mm lift, large black bars, very wide tyres, (stupidly infact) and now ……. A 1996 AHEM. wrx donk with all the fruit. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand a nasty Japanese ecu (notice the capital letter for the very first time) which basically spits fire at the TD05. Thanks guys. OHMYGODwhenitcomesonboost, So happy it is hard to describe, I am now off the nasty korean hook. You see, If my WBII was not operational by the birth of our child..(due grand final weekend for poor sad AFL fans).. I had to give up completely, the Subarus and drive the spare car. Permanently. A 1997 daewoo lanos. Hatch. Can you spell incentive? I have just returned from the official lap of Cranbrook (2 miles or so, 5 houses) and The beautiful ONE is satisfied…thankfully. No woo for me.
  7. Go for it Scott...search jet boats and Subarus (usually in NZ) EJ20 Weberred and disty fed. No room for failure when its a single engined boat.

  9. Nup Crazy, that won't work. The SC14 I used only made 5-6 psi with the EJ22, maximum. The smaller unit would only give you 2-3psi I am afraid. You could ditch the clutch and try spinning it faster but then heat becomes a problem and I see you live in Arizona... I bet you ten beer tickets that it is hotter there than here in Tasmania. Ebay will find you one.
  10. That's a slightly smaller unit, made for a 1600 cc engine, this one is for a 2000cc. Same roots type just a different capacity
  11. Ahem, toyota. ebay SC14 from a 1GZE motor (I think)
  12. Good, he may as well start with a solid motor.
  13. Of course, I used a toyota SC14 blower from a 2.0 litre six cylinder toyota crown (JDM)..about $400 Aus on ebay. These have a electromagnetic clutch to allow switching control. I used a MSD boost timing master, it retards the timing by upto 15 degrees as the boost builds. It was about $250 US, it stopped detonation completly. Anything you do (if it is gasoline powered, not LPG) will need this control. Piston will melt any other way. It is possible to adjust the distributor curve, this will sacrifice off boost running quality, the MSD runs it perfectly both ways. Keep the boost mild, ie under 10psi or drop the compression by installing EA82T pistons and wind it up. Intercool it if you can, I found the throttle body best positioned before the Supercharger. Belts slip, use a serpentine system if you can, 5pk or 6pk multirib. Wrap as much around the pulleys as you can using idlers. It will need more fuel, a fuel injected platform from the start will help, there are a few carbs that can do the job, hard to find though. Theres more, my brain is full.. later
  14. my eyes burst into flames , I can't see anything.
  15. Righto Dalton, You will need to control your timing, either electronically or by re-curving your distributor. boost can be dealt with by either bypass blow off valves or a wastegate (external) I have the bits. PM me. Matt
  16. They seem to run ok when you throw a few extra main bearings in the oil pan! Ok that was in poor taste, Sorry.

  18. A well aimed kick to the head by a mule... steeep steps when he was a kid, gotta be something. I wouldn't want him after me thats for sure. Hey BDG....Swansea is in Canada.
  19. Phuc Phiz.... how close was that. Lucky Dude, buy your dad something appropriate.
  20. I had one running for 14 months and retired the project.
  21. Thanks Skipper, its been a fun ride with the belt driven Brumby. But the jet boat will rule shallow water.....
  22. Due to forseen circumstances I am not going ahead with the supercharged EJ in the WonderBrumby II. LegacyTT, I appologise, you were quite right- 4 months ago and I should have taken more notice. These circumstances involve Sascha and I having a baby very soon, house painting and the fact that I need an ultra reilable set of wheels. It has been great fun, very different and not cheap but the whole lot is bound for the jet boat so not much will be wasted except time and gaskets. I am furiously sourcing the required parts to put her together as an EJ20T from a 1999 wrx running with the installed megasquirt ECU. I don't think I will be too dissapointed power wise, it's just a bit less individual; small price to pay for reliable though. Thanks have to publicly given to Will, John and Matt who have helped so much trying to get this thing going right, sorry we couldn't crack it. Brace yourselves frame rails.....this may hurt. __________________
