EJ25 heads
Matty B replied to Matty B's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
Spectacular plan! Thanks again for the info. Big thick DOHC gaskets, SOHC heads, 20% bigger crank pulley! Hopefully it should stay reliable now. -
new wheels for the subie. 15" superlites.

Thanks 970, that is exactly what I needed to hear! I have to go with SOHC as I have clearance between my frame rails (just). DOHC heads will not fit. They are the compreession numbers I wanted to see. PERFECT for 10psi. Keep in touch and let me know how your creation goes. Cheers, Matt -
demo derby in a soob.... :P

Aim to drive the whole thing in reverse! Less to go wrong when you back into them. I like the General's Idea with cement. -
Howdy all, Interested to hear what people have to say about the topic. I am planning to inject via 2 375cc injectors in the inlet tubing (after supercharger). As I am dedicated LPG, I have a redundant fuel tank, lines and pump all in place and waiting for a tankfull of water. Will an electric fuel pump (NA) supply enough pressure to vaporise the water? Thanks Matt

Carefull cutting that AndyJo, It's under tension. I would brace it first then cut it. Great job on the Bull Bar, It would hold its own against most here in Australia. Can I ask what it weighs?

Brother, that never ends! Keep up with it and they will run forever.

That is the gospel truth. Keep at it.

My battery is now behind the co-pilots seat. It seems Mr Fuji left enough room for my blower right where the battery used to sit. Ran a big fat welding wire through for the Positive and grounded the Negs.

The extra power loss is due to the gas coming out a venturi, thats cool for a LPG only system but whe you add the extra restriction of a carbie as well it is noticable.

HE HAS SEEN THE LIGHT, CAN ANYONE ELSE SEE IT??? Wind it up rich Bugaru, drive it a month and then lean it out a little. Ease the old girl into it. Sensational. Love your work:clap:

The system is simple, but needs setting up properly with a selection of new parts and fittings for safety and peace of mind. The gas boils or condences from a liquid to gas in a condensor. This is heated by your coolant via T fitting off your heater hoses. The gas now runs into either your throttle body or a carb via a venturi. It is drawn out by the vacuum of air rushing past it. (no moving parts here) The only adjustments are Idle control and the air/fuel mixture. They don't need messing with, ever. (except maybe someone changing elevation radiaclly) You get better fuel economy if your compression ratio is higher than normal. Std compression will make LPG 10% more thirsty than gasoline. LPG/gasoline systems have more inherant restriction than a pure LPG system, there will be power loss here trying to keep both happy. Run a standard computor to fire the spark, no worrries at all there. Pleased to help anyone with info or tip here, but bear in mind I am a first season rookie with the gas my self.

By the way, with 650 - 750 kilometres a week rolling under the Beast, I have paid for the conversion ($1900 ish Australian) already. Daily driver and workhorse @ 65% of the running costs. You work it ou. GO GAS!

Hi WJM, I see you arn't running sway bars, may I ask why not? I am debating fitting a set and really have had mixed opinions. Cheers, Matt

12 months converted for me, absolutelty rapt with the LPG, highly reccomend it to anyone.

Go the Gasseous powered Subies! Well done on the project, It feels good to get it all together and running. That thing will be unstoppable, Is it dedicated Propane or are you running a liquid fuel system as well? Thats going to change a few ideas of what a Subie can do an where they can go.

 Double post sorry.

I have full belt adjustment on the alternator and also an idler pulley from an EA82T which can also go on if I need a longer belt. Bugger power steering and a/c, horsepower suckers!
-
Yes Chris, its wired to a pressure sender, If I get a (another) backfire, it declutches the pump and lets the backfire pressure out. No figures yet, I need more retard in my distributor to get all the power out. Loads of torque at 2-3K (70-110kmh in 5th) right where I want it.

3.9 for me too, but then I dont think anything is factory anymore!
