Rip that power steering crap off, its sucking your horsepower. Go with the same sized nipples at you have on your water pump and top hose nipples on the motor, Take good note of the angles of the engine nipples and have the radiator shop try to ease the number of bends needed by angling your new nipples.

Where to find wheel bearing housing
Matty B replied to 7point62fmj's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Beautiful Johnnie, simple and effective. Backyard as hell! -
I would go with the strengthening of the lower control arm as GD said, then go for XD falcoon castor rods. They need to be forged a little on the bolts end to fit. MUCH beefier.

LPGSuperchargedBrumby is his name

ME! The puzzle is still not complete. I have one grainy photo of his old donk, His was also EJ22 and the pumps (1GG toyota) are identical. Its just the differences in layout between a liberty and a Brumby in the mounting layout. I am still working on it, its just the Wonder Brumby is going so damn well at the moment, I hesitate to mess with it. (engine wise that is). The problems he had with detonation and pinging will be eliminated by feeeding it on LPG. I am currently getting an experimental distributor made up which will retard under boost instead of advancing. Read the Redevils whole saga. Its worth it.

Subaru must have been nuts!!!
Matty B replied to pheonix165's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Double clutch it down and give it a matching rev in the middle. It will slot right in there when you get it right. Good practice for any downshift when you are really hooting, or committed to the line of a corner and don't want to upset the cars weight distribution... -
Good man, let me know if you need help or advice, You will love it. matt

And the Wonder Brumby- they are built light but, damn are they rigid. Nothing beats a bit of metal on the front (20 million Aussies are not wrong). Nice Bar, well done! Steel beats plastic every time. Old boat building saying - Woods good, plastics fantastic but........STEEL IS REAL! People get out of your lane faster now I bet.

ea82 dizy advance curve turbo vs NA
Matty B replied to fredsub's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Everyone know what is going on now.... Then please excuse the hijack but, I am in the process of squeezing 6psi (max) of boost into the Wonder Brumby via a toyota 1gg blower. Now- I have a disty in the EJ22 and its obviously set up for natrual aspiration. It runs at 12 degrees advanced at idle and about 20 at full advance (full noise). In which direction should I be modifying it to give better performance with boost. More revs + more advance???? The rev and boost curve is not like a turbo, its almost a constant increase. Shall I just twist the bastard around a bit more and have a go? Thanks in advance:lol: Could't resist. BTW I bloody hate the dancing banana! -
Thanks dude, its a work in progress as normal. The matte black on the bottom lets me touch up the sratches and stone chips with a paint brush. Then one day I was a little 'offa' and masked the stripe all around. That's Groover (or El Grooverino, if you're not into the whole brevity thing), he is the finest dog in the entire world. My Mate!

I have just put a new set on myself..... Two new 130w PIAA's from ebay, one spot one spread. $60 Aussie or $40 US. I just scored another set for $72 as well, both spots. They are going on the jet boat! I currently am running 720w of forward light and 240w rear. Blessed be the alternator!

Hey the General of Disorderlyness, It is nice to see you back.

Hy LPGSB, its in a holding pattern right now. The Wonder Brumby is super reliable at the moment and it's my daily driver ( only car). I need to pour about 20 hours into it and work is not giving me much time to do it. Plus.... I have found the hull for my jet boat project!!! 14 foot aluminIum dinghy, + 120hp twin port EA81 + colorado single stage jet = a slightly insane fishing boat for estuary and river fishing. And renovating the house! I need to clone myself.

What bloody powers it??? I bet five beer tickets its got an EA in it. Five more says its an 82T. Cmon fess up!

No I had no dramas at all. It will be another issue all together when I try to squeeze this blower and pipework in!! How much was that disty ? I am sick of points ignition allready...I want bigger spark! Can you get another? Cheers, Matt.

Check your Earths or Ground wires, bad connections there will halt everything. Be kind to the earth! Those buggers have some load going through them sometimes.

Run a thin strip of black tape along the bottom edge of the lenses, it will stop the light reflecting into your windshield. Looks good Andyjo

Hey LPGschB, where did you find that bad boy?? Is it electronic? You better get a blower back on the ute or I am stealing your user name!! I beleive I will be the only one in the world as of saturday. maybe... LPGsuperchargedWonderBrumby!

I use about 1/6th more volume of fuel per 100km than gasoline would. Big deal! Its a bit over 1/2 the price and full of yummy octane. Cheers big ears is a part of a long drinking toast which goes along the the lines of..... Here's cheers to pioneers, buccanneers and engineers, (continues with more eers) and then slamming of glasses on table and a resounding CHEERS BIG EARS! at the end. Monstaru- go for it, PM me for help if you run into troubles. The engine mounts are made from 4 EA82 ones, i cut and overlapped then welded them up. they needed to be about 40mm longer. and you will need to twist them in a big vice, just a little bit. CBE

I have looked at the Ej18 heads, they are too restrictive. Yes the compression would have been great but I am getting it another way. The battery is going behing the co-pilots seat and a toyota 1GG blower is going to be feeding the horses. I am gambling that the legendary EJ22 will hold up to 6-8psi of boost with loads of LPG thrown in as well! Nice cold condensing gas, heap of octane, Aghhh ha ha ha ha (evil laugh)! I have all the bits now its just a matter of putting it all together. The only 4 wheel dyno in Tasmania is booked for the 12th of Jan. Deadline day. (normally $230 per hour, I am getting it for $115 per hour). I just have to run it lean for the 150km trip down and hope not to backfire the bad boy. I am looking for 200hp. Wish me luck, I will need the Gods of Head Gaskets on my side.

Does a disty retard or advance with boost?
Matty B replied to Matty B's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its a distributor from a Subaru fiori (sherpa?) which was installed into the blank on the rear of the drivers side head (Pass side in US). It runs off a cam gear. I have a pure LPG fuel system to allow me a nice icy cold air/fuel mix to compress to 6psi! Fuel injection is disconnected. It hauls rump roast now, but with AWD, big tyres and towing a 14' boat it could always do with some more horsepower. 1GG Toyota supercharger @ 6psi should help that.
