do you get any sort of odd rubbing rubber on metal noises with that rim and tire size combo because i am running a similar set up and i am getting strange noises but i cant track them down.
-
agreed. we are all here for the same reason we love our subis and we love wheelin them. we can argue the difference between the tires all day because they are not the same tire a/t and m/t dont compare on the same level. and a friend of mine just informed me that the general grabber at2 that looks like the BFG all terrain preforms exactly the same as the BFG and costs less for those who might be wondering.

i have known people with both tires on their vehicles ( BFG A/T and cooper STT) personally i think the cooper is not in any way an A/T tire but the do work well. and the only thing about tire cleaning is that you need a certain amount of wheel spin for the tire to clean, the mud wont just fall out of its own accord. i have BFG's on my ranger and they are super quiet on the road and handle very well and a friend had a set of cooper STT's on her wrangler unlimited and they were very loud and seemed to wander a bit. thats just my experience personally i dont have any experience with the cooper on my own vehicles. i would look into some goodyear wrangler mt/r's version 1 they will do the best for you on anything. Good luck finding a tire.

1998 legacy Straight axle build PICS ADDED 06-26
subimonster replied to True2Blue's topic in Off Road
i love it. thank you for finally posting this thread. i have recently moved and havnt had a good chance to use a computer to look at your thread but bad rump roast man. i agree on the stock toy axles with the built in locker and 4.56's i worked for toyota for a while and your subi would be awesome with them and you car doesn't weigh enough or have enough power to break them so you would be set with 33's. personally when i finally get the parts to do this build i am going with a bigger tire but the people i wheel with do more then trailride. good luck and hope to see it in action soon!!!! -
to superu. maybe you should just message me so we dont take up precious space not talking about his car...
-
i see. good to know. i still would rather go with a tire i can use on the road for more then 8 thousand miles...
-
i kinda just built this car on a whim because i was tired of seeing lowered versions and noticed my moms outback was taller then mine so i slapped some outback struts on it ordered some super swampers went to work on the fenders a little bit with my cutting wheel and had a buddy weld my rear diff and i have been wheelin the piss out of it for almost four years this way. i am just ready to change it up a little.
-
i have had 28x 8.50 14 super swamper tsls on it no problem but they dont make that tire anymore from what i hear and i want a more street able tire on it and i have gone to a 15" rim now so i would like to run 235 75 15's but my fenders wont clear it in the front. i would normally be all about a bigger lift but i am broke like a joke right now and i am a mechanic not a fab guy so i cant build all the awesome stuff you guys do which is lame i must admit but i figure a little chopping and bending and maybe 1" strut spacers in the front would do it since it is about an inch lower in the front then the back and i already have 98 outback struts on it. any help i can get from more knowledgeable people then i is greatly appreciated.
-
i have to ask you because i have been following this thread religiously. i have a 95 legacy and i want to go up a tire size without more lift. i can chop down the fenderwell as you have in the back but what is the best way to clearance the front fenders?
-
I would also like to know how to go about getting these cams for my legacy ej22. Thanks.
-
I really wish i had time and money to do this to my legacy. Your brat is the ultimate bad rump roast subi. I bow to you

yea i was wondering because i have worked in the car business for a long time and i know that uni-body cars need support built in. i love it and think it is awesome i was just wondering in case i did a similar project. sweet ride...

how did you re-enforce the strut towers?

What the best tire size/brand for a lifted Legacy?
subimonster replied to EastCoastEJ22T's topic in Off Road
i have stock 98 outback struts on mine and i had 28 super swamper tsls on mine but i had to do a little pinch weld modification in the back nothing big but it drove great. I mostly agree with the 27" general grabber at2 because it is a very good over all tire. or the BFG at which is almost identicle to the grabber or you might be able tolocate some BFG km2 tires. -
Ok i have a 95 legacy L sedan with ob strut swap. i have had 28" super swamper TSLs on it but am now running a 27" snow tire. i would like to know A: where would be the best place to get a 4" or 6" inch lift B: Do they even make a 6" lift for my Subi and C: if I did go with a 6" lift would i be able to fit 30" tires? any and all help would be appreciated, Thanks. This is the car right now, some of you have seen it already.

I want to give that a try in my subi!!!

What do you have for EJ swap exhuast?
subimonster replied to Mr. Brat's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
well for what it is worth i have had many exhaust systems on my subi. first off my subi is a 95 legacy with a ej 2.2 right now it has the stock 2.2 manifold that has been cut into to separate manifolds and true dual 2" pipe into dual 18 flow tech glass pack which sounds really mean but is loud as hell and i get pulled over alot for noise pollution so i wouldn't recommend it on a car that sees road time. the one before this one was stock 2.2 y pipe with one cat and 2.5 inch pipe all the way out the back with flowmaster super 40 which rumbled really good at idle but was really raspy in revs. and the first one i had was still stock 2.2 y pipe with one cat and 2.5 inch pipe all the way out the back to a cheapy ricer can which sounded great, good low rumble at idle and great low wrx like tones at any rev and it still sounded great even after i beat the hell out of it off road. hope that gives some ideas from my experience. -
what is in my messages? i didnt see anything new from you...

im not trying to be a wongleflute i was just wondering and if you are technical about crawling you dont need the big lift just saying. my rockers are also completely destroyed already so no biggy there. i would love to go wheeling with you not to prove you wrong but to have a good time with a fellow subi lover. i only ever get to go with jeep and toyota guys it would be awsome to kick it with another subi. so to clear the air not ragging on you just curious still think your subi is bad rump roast and would love to go wheelin some time.
-
i was just wondering because i have hit terrain like that in my 95 automatic and had not even half as much trouble but i only have a welded diff and at the time i had 28" super swamper tsls. any who that is a sick trail.
-
go with a 205 70 r15 tire or something like that and i agree if you are not going to run a bigger tire dont waste time with a lift because the gain from that lift will be nothing without a bigger tire under. just speculating but hope this helps.
-
looks sick. if i might say something, if you have a low range in your subi it is much easier to rock crawl in low gear. not trying to judge i just do a bit of rock crawling and that is how we do it. i also assume the terrain is harder then it looks. where is this off road park i want to try it!
