  1. strange. Oh well...time to search out another solution.
  2. I would either buy that one on ebay and try to make it work...or find one in a junkyard if you really want it that badly. I never really tried to make the horn work...i was happy with just the wheel...since it was in a race car.
  3. Once again, I do not think it is the issue with the turbo and where it sits...but the issue of the LACK of an INTERCOOLER and the design of the FLAT 4 that makes the #3 cyl have some small issues.
  4. Dude...next time you need your car worked on....send me an email: wmaham1701@hotmail.com
  5. So JWX and I tored the dash and junk COMPLETELY out of the 89 RX i had... and could not find it. I also MUST note that the car NEVER hit fuel cut tho...and i ran alot of boost thru that thing....its possible that the box was removed during its many times in the body shop...as the car was totaled about 3 times before i got it. :-\
  6. I am going to pack my extra filter adapter, and go get a TON of straws today. I think this just might work...along with maybe getting some TQ out of it.
  7. By calculations...at 15~16 PSI before i added the IC...i was getting about 170~180 hp...as I outran that 2.5 RS...it was all stock except for an intake...est 170 hp for it...and we were at similar weights with people in the cars loading us down. I walked away from it steadily...so that means i had close to same HP as the RS. Either way, dyno time comming as soon as I can get time and $ to do so...and fix the gremlin fuel cut and clutch. after I added the IC...it was faster at 14 psi than the previous psi...ofcourse...it was definalty faster...and then the clutch started slipping.
  8. No. In 1987 SUBARU changed the steering wheel stuff slightly...enough that the steering wheel WILL still bolt on...but the horn mechanism wont work. I like the 85 stuff better than the 89 one...and i tried to swap...horn never worked. :-\
  9. as you can see by the pic i posted...the RX dampeing is WAY higher than others. the GR2's are based off the 2WD stuff and are only 10% stiffer than the stock 2WD stuff....as KYB is under contract to NOT make the 4WD stuff publicly avalible...and they make it all for SUBARU internally for the old stuff. PLEASE use these for the rear: 21007GA471 $36.27 EACH. thats the latest PN for the RX rear damper....7 left in the country. I can get the absolute originals...but they will come from JAPAN at a wait of ~3 weeks at no additional charge.....and are the same price. I would HIGHLY recommend getting the 21007GA771's and waiting the 3 weeks to get them...as those are the known REAL ones with no supercessions on them.
  10. As for myself...alot of people think that the EA82T cant do this or that...so I am sticking with it until I get it to where I want it. Oh...Qman has a PM on its way...
  11. If you dont care about what engine you run, as long as its a subaru one, reliable and makes alot of HP...then use a later EJ20G from an STi. Legacy onea are only about 220~260...STi ones from version 5 and on are 280 right out of the box. There is more work involved in the swap...but you get over 340 with intake and exhaust mods right out of the box....and its completely reliable at that point. Spending the same on the EA82T will yeild that same HP and work involved....but no one really knows the reliability of it...and parts are very hard to come by for the EA82.
  12. On a good EA82T with completely stock internals...intake, exhaust, intercooler and boost being the only mods...about 200 is the limit. Go more extravagant...say, stock internals...but some slight engine management tweaking, bigger turbo and IC setup...240~260 is the rumored absolute max output on stock internals. On an average EA82T with miles and years of driving...say, an 87 RX with 160k miles on it...180 is going to be the max before things start breaking...simply due to its age and life to this point...the ones with age/miles on them dont last at those aforementioned output numbers. A fresh one will do the numbers tho. I would say, if you did it all correctly; pistons, rods...cams, turbo, header, TBE, IC, full engine management...you could get about 300 out of it an daily drive it and probably get about 30k~40k miles out of it if its taken care of, and not used for track events...or a TON of autocross. Otherwise...rally teams have been able to produce 400~450 out of these things back in the mid 90's. Technology has impoved since then, and many new products, materials and information is avalible...I would not be suprised if a fully race prepped/built EA82T was able to produce 500hp and be reliable enough for a WRC style rally event, or the 'average GT road race.'
  13. MPFI and turbo systems are the same except fuel injectors.
  14. Some non turbo XT's had discs, and ALL GL-10s are SUPPOSED to have discs.
  15. I was about to say...ive had SEVERAL outer CVs apart with NO problems...DOJ is easyer to get all the way apart in a short order tho. The couter CV is a non issue with me...I just get it right apart in no time.
  16. ANY 2wd or 4WD ea82 powered subaru front brakes will work. they are ALL the SAME from 85 to 94, even XT. XT6...no. Same or rear as long as they are disc brakes. GL-10 and RX's had rear discs as standard....unles you've got an oddball GL-10 like JWX.
  17. Maybe I should install my equal lenght fuel system on the RX then. pics to come.
  18. possible its differences in temp/air density that does it. I know that with my RX its happened. One time I got 29 going to Atlanta from Charlotte. Same trip later in the month...25.
  19. Parts are still readily avalible for the EA82 engines. Its the other small things like body parts, interior parts etc...that are either only in JAPAN at this point, or "obsolete/inactive" which means its gone forever. The only thing with the engine parts that I have found to be O-I are the actual service tools. I can get you any part you need for the car. New, OE, stright from SUBARU.
  20. I run no covers at all, front or rear. I religiously take off all the covers on everything I get thats got a Tbelt. Ive been thru almost everything and never had an issue!
