After thinking...im going to stick to my original plan of leaving the block alone...and getting pistons/rods.

Burned valve......? Check compression.

1. There were never factory speakers in the hatch...the factory speakers for wagons were in the rear doors. I ahve used 6 inch speakers there...bu it requires some drilling and bolting to mount the speaker. There is not easy way to install speakers on the older subies simply because no one made anything for them... So, its just a trial and error process. 2. There are 4 screws holding the instrument cluster bezel on...and the thing snaps off...and unplug the wires and junk. Oh and the HVAC controls, you will need to pop off the "off" and "defrost" buttons to get those two screws out of it. Then the instrument cluster (ISCL) is held in by 4 screws, IIRC....and its easy to get out. Mind the speedo cable and the harness for it. 3. You will have NO top end power with a clogged cat. The best thing to do is do a basic tune up...cap, rotor, wires, plugs, air filter, run some GOOD FI cleaner thru the system...etc...NGK plugs...and almost any brand is fine for the cap/rotor...wires...its a toss up, but ive used the Beck Arnley wires with no isues. The NAPA silver filter is what Ive used for the Air filter...as for FI cleaner...thats a toss up too. What year is it, auto/manual, fuel system...etc...????

Air to Water or Air to Air Intercooler
WJM replied to Myxalplyx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~gavinp/airwater.htm I personally favor the AWIC over the AAIC...why? Just cuz. AA is easery/cheaper install and such...plus more 'bling' depending on application. The AW you can add/keep ALOT of stealthness...aka...a stock appearance, no hood scoops and such...and it does seem to be alot more efficient. -
10mm studs...with 14MM Ti nuts. i dont rmemeber the thread pitch...
-
me thinks EM has had too much eggnog or something...LOL its about a 7MM difference in diameter in pistons.
-
These are NOT copper. And the only bad taste I have in my mouth is due to the utter lack of humidity in the house after waking up.... Given the choice, i woudl get copper HGs again...simply due to the reuseability...as long as I got some Paeco studs. The cometics are multi layer metal HGs with some other kinda of material on the metal. They are supposed to seal great and hold like mentioned before with the stock bolts.
-
any ticking from the engine?
-
Keith (Keith at TWE) and i were talking...Keith is going to get Cometic to make Head Gaskets for the EA82T...as he is building one up. Price: about $70 each...as in, per side...but no final price is set...but thats the estimate. These HGs are supposed to hold up to 40+ PSI boost all day long. Shadow is in for a set or two, I am in for a set or two...Keith(TWE Keith) ofcourse for a set. Who else might be interested?

How much did the TWE Up pipe cost?
WJM replied to Jeepman775's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes. As long as you are modding the car for POWER its WELL worth every penny. -
of an XT6 rear hub. I dont care how rusty or destroyed as long as its "all there" as I am trying to figure out some things... there are NO new XT6 hubs in stock that I can find accross the country...its OBSOLETE and no more in japan as far as my information tells me...so that leaves used units that are still on cars or laying around somewhere... wait...where's shadow when i need him... still...someone, if possible, I need pics!
-
Maybe...???? Ofcourse....the impreza/legacy hub would need to be used on the front...

How much did the TWE Up pipe cost?
WJM replied to Jeepman775's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
$399 for the header, and $199 for the DP. The header/up pipe is a one piece deal on the EA82T's....for now atleast. -
Oh crap...after looking at some stuff...and seeing the wrist pin stuff...scap yet another idea. Anyone wany some STi pistons?
-
If I proposed the idea to transplant a 4G63+AWD layout into a 360 you'd say "do it" :-p
-
I myself dont know the difference...so I dont know.

Dare to Compare- Leg Turbo to EA82T
WJM replied to Skip's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
imthinking turbos spin faster than 100,000 RPMs...so maybe a '0' is missing...? -
I have no clue....but I think you can only get the heads bare...and its not hard to swap over the valves, springs and seals and such...
-
Oh...lol. I need a stereo. Ive got one already..and some speakers in front...but ive got some better ones for the front, and the rears are stock but are shot...so...
-
RWD is fun, thats for sure...but after 2 RWD converted subies...im going to stay AWD....its all purpose!
-
mmmmkay...
