you dont get the comfort of haveing a NEW NEVER BEEN RUN AND OVERHEATED/COOKED block when you buy new. STi/WRX SB's for for around $1500 or so, and sell like hot cakes...and they DONT stay stock. They get another $1500 or more invested before going into the car. So yeah, get that JY block thats been cooked re worked and put in 1000 worth of rods, 200 in crank work, 400 for pistons, any about 200~400 for labor and block work...for it to blow due to a cooked block that really could not be fixed. 1k is a GREAT deal for a block that is no longer in production, 11 left in the COUNTRY, and are NEW.

blah blah blah blah blah blah ...............

some of them had feedback carbs....it was useless...but they still had it...dunno what years and models tho..
-
yeah...what ^^^^she^^^^ said. So...someone buy some.
-
its supposed to have it.

whinner? No...but I like to keep USMB up to date on whats going on in the Mad SCientists project cars... Post w^%*...maybe... Yep, all on the RX...and I think all the RXs are supposed to have PDRs...and i didnt know that the ENGINE would put out that much power to make it slip with just putting the IC on.... ....it too spyder intake, large TB and special more fuel in the top end to make the wagon slip like the RX is slipping now... oh well... I hope either SOA will come thru and give me a clutch...or im getting one of the clutchnet x puck clutches VERY soon. According to a few sources...the clutches on all the EJxx AWD stuff is the same as the 4WD/Turbo EA82 and some EA82 stuff. the 6MT STi stuff has a larger clutch disc, so thats out ofcourse. Otherwise, it appears as if thickness: 5MM. Diameter: 225MM/8.875IN, spline/teeth: 1/T24....are all the same on the stuff across the board. Ofcourse, flywheels and presure plates are a difference between many things and NOT compatible at all between EAxxx/EJxxx....

On all the subies ive had with an EA82 in it...all 3 RX's would pop the lock back to unlock if you dont hold the handle. Only one of the 3 had working power door locks...and the other two are supposed to work. My wagon has PDR, and you have to hold the handle....or it will close and unlock all doors. The passenger side is the same way on all of them. Only the rear doors remained locked. The 89 DL had no PDR...and did the same....except the PDR stuff.

On XT's they are in the trunk. :-p In the sedans/wagons/coupes they are under the steering column above the kick panel there. IF its carbed and has an O2 sensor...then its a feedback model carb, and has an ecu...might throw codes, might not...just have the ignition on, and the LED will blink on some slow and fast flashes...oh, you might want to pull the panel down so you can see the ECU.

Manual tranny shift problems
WJM replied to hooziewhatsit's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I can get into 1st at 40 mph. Run ATF for a 1000 miles or so...making sure to do alot of nice and easy slow shifting...that will do it...and then switch to a known good fully synthetic gear oil of your likeing. -
looks normal. Rebuild the PCV system...clean the hoses/lines, and replace the PCV valve...that will help out a TON.
-
Soon, I hope to be squirt'n and spark'n.
-
synthetic is good. it is the only logical choice.

Dont use stop leak junk on these engines. Sounds like head gasket if its looking coolant and running weird temps. get two of 11044AA013 and pull the engine...there ya go. Or the complete engine gasket kit can be had for about $110...and...MACHINE THOSE HEADS!
-
RFL for me.

More clutch slip. 11 PSI now. ARG. Weird issues with stumbling and no power when just puttzing around....but when i drive it like its a waaceee Kaaa...its fine for a while....puttzz around...20 mins of that and it complains. AND....the gremlin fuel cut is still there. Power door locks dont work. The passenger and hatch locks are....well, dont really operate on key use...they sound like pastic breaking when its turned....AND!!!!!!!!!!!!! and.....the rear speakers suck.....ADN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! adn....well, and.....ummm....its really cold out side. Im done.

My concern was... Im planning on a big brake upgrade at some point...and I still need ebrake to pass safety inspection. So...I figured Id rig the handbrake to the hill holder somehow... I was hoping it was rear only...so, WRX style rear handbrake action!!! Could be done tho...might still do it...who knows....either way...STI ver 6 4 pots front, and the STi ver 6 2 pots rear......but, as it is now, the brakes, STOCK, will easily overcome the 215/50 R compund tires....well, EBC pads and SS lines.
-
that stuff is not legal at SCCA events. :-p
-
what brakes does the hill holder operate when its working correctly??
-
ijm working at prestige suby now...so i get more than foglers...so after bills are paid from not working...watch out SM!
-
Its ready to bolt things on and run.
