WJM replied to WJM's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
Its staying stock sans an STi muffler and STi struts. 166/165 is the output on it. -

RWD Subaru - differential gearing?
WJM replied to stephenw22's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just swap the RING AND PINION and dont bother with the diff swap. any R160 R&P will fit in your stock R160. Find a WRX or SVX rear diff, and use that R&P. Both of those are 3.545. -
So where are you guys getting those Fel-Pro headgaskets for $14 each? Cheapest I've found was Summit Racing for $27 and some change....
-
These guys: http://www.aluminumheads.com/Subaru.html Has anyone used them? They any good? They've got the cheapest prices I've found. Most others are 700+ for heads plus core, and for that price, I can get NEW ones for cheaper than that ($300 each).....I've only seen one other ref. to them on here...so any other input would be greatly helpful.

Usually thats just a rebuild of their own stuff.

Yep.... Many thanks to meeting people at Autox....my mechanical skills and driving skills that get me 'in' with people and crowds, so I can work my way around and get to know important people....help people out...they help out in return...etc etc....

EA82T is going in with the AEM running it. I am just ordering 05 Legacy GT fitment rear assemblies right now...I've got a great relationship with a Tein distributor with alot of connections within Tein...so I can get those items...plus with the 9k spring rate from the factory...I can throw on the 10k's with no issues....then I can throw the 12k up front once I figure that out. Next...since I have some spare front D2 damper shells laying around...I am going to attempt to fit those to the front and figure out what I need to order and have made up for a direct bolt on peice.
-
Thats right...the RX is finally going to have a REAL suspension under it.

strut rod bushings whaaaaaat?
WJM replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Flat sides OUT. SuperPro makes them, but its a wait to get them from Austrailia, and they are more expensive now. -
I have two EA82T's sitting in my bay....unfortunatly....one of the engines, the heads are super cracked JDM style.

Brat & XT6 CarbonFiber Hoods
WJM replied to Gravityman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I want an UNSCOOPED EA82 hood....why? No TMIC for me...AWIC for me. Also...CF fenders...? Yes, I will pay. -
NAPA sells a nice bolt on muffler....PN 18400 IIRC. Its about $18 or so...last time I got one.

Another Stupid Exhaust Question
WJM replied to 4WDFrenzy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
on a turbo car, the BIGGER, the BETTER when you are after the turbo. Sizing is not all that important infront of the turbo, but is more important. with the TWE header and DP+2.5" back from the DP...130mph on stock boost (7psi) was obtained almost daily, and rather swiftly. -
Hey....guess what I just realized.... I drive thru Valdosta nearly every other week. WJM thinks it might be time to stop in the dealer in Valdosta on my way back up next week.....
-
Not fast huh? You can tell that to all the WRXs and STi's I've outran with it in the past. And YES it was reliable for that time. I put 20k miles on it before something happened that it was down for more than a day.....and even then it wasnt something related to the engine internal peices...it was the turbo coolant pipe rubbing on the header, hole was made...leak was created. 240 crank hp and 320 crank tq is not something to shake a stick as...especially with only 2490 lbs of weight with AWD.

Well, after careful ocnsideration, and many math headaches...the stock 'flat' manifold is just fine. However, I will be bolting a WRX throttlebody onto it to use the MAP sensor and the Idle control valve for the AEM....so I am going to be making a really trick adapter tube for it. WJM
